This week my Word of the Week is:
It has been a real family week and I have enjoyed it! The girls are older now and when they are not working or at college they tend to do their own thing with their people so for them to take some time out and spend time together as a family has been lovely.
The girls spent Saturday with Stu, taking him to the cinema and to play pool as an early Father's Day treat. They all had a fantastic time and we ended the day all on our laptops and computers separately but playing online games together.
It was of course Father's Day on Sunday and the girls were up early, well earlier than they usually are on a Sunday. We had a nice day together not really doing much but just being together made me feel content. Stu was so happy with the gifts that the girls got him. A couple of Funko Pops, a framed print, some chilli sauces and a Newtons Cradle which has been driving me insane all week. It is on his desk and when any of my family walk past it they set the balls off swinging. The clanking is so annoying! He set up the old Wii and him and Ellie played the Mario games together. We got a takeaway for tea, Burger King which was a real treat as it's a couple of years since we last had a Whopper. The only time we seem to get Burger King is when we are in Newcastle as there is one in the train station.
Stu and I had more time together on Monday, we went out for a pub lunch. 30% off is fantastic when it's just the two of us. Three courses came to just under £30 which I think is decently priced as everything is freshly cooked and tastes amazing. We spent some time sat outside in the beer garden and it really didn't feel like a normal Monday at all, if anything it felt more like a bank holiday Monday with music playing and the sun shining, OK maybe not a bank holiday, we usually get rain on those Monday's. lol
Ellie went to college on Tuesday only to be told there was no more work to do so she hung out with her friends. They are all planning on spending more days together during the summer holidays which she is looking forward to. They have some exciting things happening which I am so jealous of but I am hoping this will be the best summer for her as it's her last one while in education, there'll be no more long summer breaks for her!
It seems like the rest of the week I have either had Ellie or Becky at home with me. Some weeks I feel like I hardly see them but this week has been good having some one on one time with them and yesterday we were all together! We were going to to and see my dad but the thought of walking there in the heat put us off.
I hope you are all managing OK in the heat? I have been staying inside, my days of sunbathing are over and I hate being sweaty. It's times like this I wish air conditioning was a big thing here in the UK. I have seen various people on social media from places like Florida and Texas who are visiting the UK and they have said our heat is different from theirs back home.
How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one! I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!
I'm glad you've had a lot of family time together. I know what you mean- it gets harder as they get older even if they're living at home because they want to be with friends and/or have to study a lot. It's important to cherish that time together and I know you do! I can see not wanting to walk when it's so hot out. It's not been super hot here (yet) just warm and one day when coming in for a walk with Alyssa we were so happy to come home to a house with AC. If we didn't have it, I can see how that would deter walking! I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHaving everyone home is something I can relate to. Everyone is back with us now. I love that they spend time with their friends, but also love spending time with them too. I wish it had been a bank holiday last Monday. A three day weekend would be good. Your Monday lunch with Stu sounds like a bargain. I'm not sure I'd want an AC, although it would help to keep the hound cool, so maybe. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice that you've had lots of time together this week, my two usually disappear into bedrooms nowadays long gone are the toddlers under our feet days.
ReplyDeleteWe love a burger king, so much nicer and tastier than McDonald's. Have you tried the Nacho chicken range they do? it's so good.
I don't blame you for staying inside, I've pretty much done the same. I love the sunshine but not the horrible sticky heat.
I am sure you enjoyed time with your kiddos! I want you to know that I found Ginny & Georgia on Netflix and have finished the three seasons!! I skipped through season 2 but enjoyed season 3 and now look forward to a new season. Thanks for mentioning it in your previous blog! The heat here in Florida, in the summer months, is terrible because of the humidity. I can't stand being outside right now. Have a blessed Sunday and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteTogether is such a great word and always makes my mama heart full! Enjoy you time together!
ReplyDeleteI love you've enjoyed lots of time together. Family time is the best! Although, my eldest is often doing his own thing more now.
ReplyDeleteThe pub lunch sounds like a nice treat and what a great saving too!
I like summer but that muggy heat can do one, it's been unbearable. Yes to AC, it should be standard here to save people from my moaning about being hot every 5 minutes, lol. xx
Can't beat a bit of family time and meals out. I don't know the last time I had a Burger King. Hope it was enjoyed #wotw
ReplyDeleteWe have also had some time with my oldest daughter who lives away from home and it has been nice to have us all together again for a bit. And I do love a good bargain - 30% off is definitely a great one.
ReplyDeleteAww family time is great. I love it when all mine are getting on and spend time together, it doesn't happen very often but my daughter got a Switch2 last week and of course everyone had to play Mario Kart. Sadly, it's only 4 at a time and there are 6 of us, some were willing to watch and wait though.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think I've ever had Burger King.. or if I did then it's lost in the midst of time LOL! It's lovely you could all spend time together and that you got lunch out with Stu. Karen - Early Rising Mum
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have lots of time together this week. Sounds like Stu had a lovely Father’s Day. Glad you enjoyed some time together too having a pub lunch out. Hope Ellie will enjoy her long summer with her friends and be able to make the most of it. #WotW
