Back to school with Matalan - Review!!

In less then two weeks the kids break up for the summer holidays....I have already started to think about buying new clothes, coats and shoes for September....I could never afford to buy it all in one go the week before they go back so buy a little every week.....

I saw that the lovely people from Matalan were looking for people to review their schoolwear....I jumped at the chance....I have never bought school clothes from Matalan before and was interested to see what there items were like.....I usually get the back to school clothes from Asda or Tesco I always seem to forget about Matalan as there isn't one local to us....I never think of ordering online.

We were sent a selection of clothes for Becky and for Ellie......

We were sent....

  • A pair of trousers each....Prices vary depending on style but start from £4. They seem like they will last....Ellie is terrible for wearing out trousers on the knees these seem tougher then most....
  • 2 short sleeve Blouses for Becky....They are easy iron one's which suits me fine....Prices start from £6. I like the pintuck detail on the front....So pretty.
  • 2 Polo shirts for Ellie....
  • A cardigan each.....Prices start from £5
  • A pack of 5 vests for Ellie - £5

From first impressions the uniforms look fab....The quality is great and everything looks really well made...

The little details make the clothes look so nice....The pleats on the blouses, the little flower motif on the polo tops, the bows on the trouser pockets and the wavy edges on the cardigans make everything so pretty....

The trousers both have the adjustable waists.....Which I think is great....Becky is thin for her height and I sometimes struggle to find trousers to fit in the length and in the waist....

The back of the tags on the clothes have a space to write their names.....That is a wonderful idea....No more lost clothes especially on P.E days.....

The only problem we found was that Becky's trousers were too long....I got her 11 year old size....She is short compared to the other children in her class but hopefully she will grow over the summer.....If not she will grow into them she has another 5 years at school.....hehehe

I can't really say how they wash as I'm keeping them until the girls go back to school in September.....I will update then.

I think Matalan does a great uniform....For a very reasonable price too....

Don't you think they look smart!! I'm sort of looking forward to the new school year now and we haven't even finished this one....hehehe

I was sent all the items listed above free of charge....This is my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own...

  1. I bought all of the school bits that I could from Matalan the other week. I feel so organised that they are all hanging up ready for the new school term at the end of next month! Fab review. xx

  2. My little boy has to have his jumpers and polo tops from the school because of the logo, and the price is ridiculous compared to places like Matalan.

    1. The prices are crazy when you have to buy them from schools....I bought two jumpers for my eldest thinking she needed them £12 each! Disgusting!!

  3. Matalan is great - my kids have always had lots of clothes from there. I'm loving the new sporty ranges they have in too (for adults I mean!!). We do have a local one, but driving through Reading's one-way system is not my favourite thing to do so I usually order online. I'd be interested in reviewing the sports ranges for my health & fitness blog if you think Matalan would be up for that? Because I am a small grown-up I also have some of the teenage range for me!! #triedandtested

  7. They both look very smart, and I always forget to look in Matalan. We have a local store, and I think I will have to make the effort as they certainly seem to have a good price for what can be a very expensive clothes trip come September. Thanks

  9. They look really smart! Ben is a skinny monkey too so I have similar problems getting him trousers to fit.

  10. My kids uniform is so expensive. It's yellow polo shirts and green jumpers, both with the school logo😖. I can only buy them from 2 shops.
Ryan goes into year 6 in September so I'm not buying any new uniform for him. He only started the new school in January so has enough. The only thing I could get cheaply from Matalan is a skirt for Jordanna.

    1. What awkward colours to have....
Hooray! That you don't have to buy any for your boy! My youngest gets a lot of hand me downs so I have hardly anything to buy for her :) x
