The Autmun/Fall tag.

I saw the Fall tag questions and answers over on Bubbablue & Me and thought it was perfect for this time of year. I do love Autumn. I think even more than summer.

1, Which two things tell you that the fall season has begun?
The kids going back to school and the crisp, chilly mornings!

2, What do you love about autumn?
It's still a little warm but now sweltering, the best TV is back on, there's of course Halloween and the most amazing sunsets!!

3, What do you dislike about the season?
The darker nights coming in. The kids have only just found a good bunch of local friends that they play out with. I don't like them being out in the dark so it means they have less time out on an evening!

4, Share your best memory for the autumn season?
I think it has to be Halloween with the kids over the years. In the past we've made decorations, biscuits, cakes and the kids have of course dressed up for Halloween to go trick or treating. I don't think I'll be invited along trick or treating this year as now they have new friends to go out with. Hmmf!

5, What is your favourite scent for the fall season?
Cinnamon. When I smell it I feel all cosy.

6, Apple bobbing or toffee apples?
Toffee apples. They are yummy. We are going to try making them soon.

7, Halloween - love or hate?
Love it as long as I don't have to answer the door to trick or treater's.

8, What’s your favourite autumn food?
I love casseroles and stews cooked in the slow cooker.

9, Thanksgiving – celebrate or not?
Not here in the UK but I would love to. I love a turkey dinner.

10, What’s your go to fashion in the autumn?
Jeans/jeggins, oversized jumpers and boots.

11, Which place do you love to visit in the autumn season?
My dad's place. He has quite a bit of land which is perfect for blackberry picking and finding conkers. He has a lot of trees so the piles of leaves are going to be amazing!

12, Fairy lights or candles? What is your choice?
I like a bit of both. Fairy lights when the kids are around but I do like to burn a candle.

13, Pumpkin picking from the fields or the supermarket?
This year from the fields! I've always bought them from the supermarket as there was no pumpkin fields nearby. Now the farmer up the road is growing them and we will be going to pick our own!

14, What’s your pumpkin carving of choice?
We always do faces. We're not the best at carving pumpkins but we do have fun!

15, Real fire or central heating?
I would love a real fire but it's central heating here!

16, Apple pie or Pumpkin Pie. What’s your favourite?
Apple pie. I don't think I've ever tried pumpkin pie before. I want to though.

17, Do you enjoy feeling the cold air or do you wrap up warm?
I like to be warm and always feel cold even when others don't. I am all for wrapping up warm.

18, Do you have any specific traditions to celebrate the fall season?
We didn't (apart form Halloween) until this year. We've been blackberry picking and we will be going hunting for conkers. We are also going to the local firework display.

19, Share your favourite quote related to the autumn.

  1. I love the colours of Autumn. For the last three years we have been to a local farm to buy our pumpkins from the farm shop and then decorate them in a spooky tent. They make a real effort to make it fun and the kids love it (plus it means none of the pumpkin mess in the house)
I don't like the evenings getting dark so quick though.

  5. The downside of fall is the shorter days for sure! It’s always so sad to look outside and it’s dark by 6:30!

  8. I love autumn for many of the same reasons as you. I like that it's cool but not cold, so you can go out with a gillet on for a nice brisk walk and not feel chilled or overheated. And that smell that you get in the air too.

Plus it sort of marks the build up to Christmas which is my favourite time of the year.
