This week my Word of the Week is:
I should rename these blog posts to this week my break of the week is... lol I am so done with things breaking, they say these things come in three's but we're well past that now. Over the past few weeks the kettle broke but was fixable but only after I bought a new one which is still sat in it's box ready for the next time it breaks, my mobile phone broke and I got a new one, the house phone broke and we haven't bothered to replace it as we don't use it and we've had a couple more breakages this week. Ugh!
On Monday evening our shower broke, well not the shower. The pull cord which switches it on, it snapped off. You would think it would be an easy fix, just tie the cord back up but no. Stu had a look and it snapped from inside the box. To fix it meant taking the box to bits and taking some of the wires out and Stu knows better than to mess with electrics. We had a workman out and it was all fixed within half an hour, he just replaced the bottom of the box and we got a new cord.
The next break was the SD card in our security camera. I blame the electric being switched off and on from the fuse box thing while the shower cord was being fixed. Every time we have a power cut our camera plays up and I have been told it's from the power surge when the electricity comes back on. The card wasn't saving any recordings and when we tried to format it, it wasn't having it and we couldn't delete anything off it. Anyway, I ordered a couple of new SD cards off Amazon and thanks to Becky having a Prime account they arrived the next day so the camera is back up and running. After things that happened last year I can't imagine not having the security of a camera now.
Not all breaks are bad though, I had a lovely break from the housework on Sunday with it being Mother's Day. My family took over the chores. Over past years they would do the bare minimum and I would be left playing catch up on the Monday but not this year. I have learned from previous years and made sure they did the jobs properly and plenty of them. hehehe
Ellie has started her Easter break from college and she thinks she has a lot of plans. She is off for almost 3 weeks so has plenty of time to have some fun. Have you seen that meme it goes something like I love how teenagers are planning stuff. No money, no ride, no permission, no nothing. Just planning. She is like that. She has ideas of things to do but she's going to have to earn some money before anything happens. She has her college bus pass which she can use to get into town and back but anything after that she's going to have to do some jobs around the house to earn some pennies. There's things she wants to see at the cinema, she wants to go to the trampoline park, the arcade place and goodness knows where else.
How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one! I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!
Oh goodness that a lot of things breaking! Things are only supposed to happen in threes. Hopefully you've had your year's worth of breakages now. Glad you got them all fixed.
ReplyDeleteI like how you used two different meanings of the word break... one negative and one positive- clever! I'm sorry that things keep breaking for you. Hopefully that trend will end very soon :). And I hope your daughter has a wonderful break. Three weeks is plenty of time to have some fun adventures and relax as well.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of things breaking, and both annoying and expensive to fix (especially when added up). I love how you finished on a good note with a break from chores.
ReplyDeleteOh no that's rubbish, thankfully it was all fixable though. Hopefully that's the breaks all over with now apart from the good type.
ReplyDeleteThat's a long Easter break for Ellie, I hope she can earn enough to do some of the things she has planned.
Fingers crossed that you've had all the bad breaks for the year now. Hehe. Good breaks from housework and all that are welcome. Holiday breaks away, even better. I hope you have some planned holiday breaks coming up. Hopefully your Ellie has her Easter break sorted with help from big sister. Earning some pennies around the house is a good idea too.
ReplyDeleteOh no, not more breakages, you have been unlucky. I'm glad you had a nice Mother's Day though. The Little Man doesn't break up from school until Friday. I love the Easter holiday, I'm planning on having my car and practicing lots of driving. Boo likes planning stuff to do with her friends, but like Ellie, she doesn't have her own income (I don't even get Child Benefit for her anymore because she's not at school, and they took over £100 a month off my UC...she's been job seeking though.)
ReplyDeleteHow frustrating to have so many things break. Glad the shower cord got fixed and that you’ve got the security camera back up and running. Having a break from housework for Mother’s Day is a much nicer break – hope you had a lovely day. Hope Ellie has a nice Easter break. #WotW
ReplyDeleteThat would have been so annoying! Lets hope that's it now! Karen Early Rising Mum
