Happy Friday folks and for you reading in the US happy 4th of July! It seems longer than a week since my last Friday Favourite blog post even though this week has flown over. Days are all feeling muddled again with my eldest having a break from work and my youngest being on her summer break from college. That is one of the joys of summer though, living the carefree out of routine life. I am of course linking up with Erika and Andrea to share the things that I have loved over this past week.
We had the hottest day of the year again this week. On Monday the heat was unbearable even in my house which is usually lovely and cool. I kept the curtains closed trying to keep the heat out, we had fans on but whenever any of us moved we would sweat. On Wednesday morning I woke up with just a sheet on me and reached for the duvet as I was freezing! It rained on and off for most of the day and it was lovely, I even went for a look around the garden enjoying that feeling of feeling chilly.
Cold showers!
When we first moved into this house there was no shower, just a bath. We only got a shower installed a couple of years ago and I really don't know how we managed without it, especially when it is hot out! At the start of the week I was having at least 2 showers a day and was having the water as cold as I could bear it!
Lewis Capaldi!
I love that man! The last time he performed live was at Glastonbury two years ago. He had some mental health problems to deal with and was suffering really badly with Tourette's. He's worked on himself, written new music and came back with a bang at Glastonbury Festival. I was almost crying seeing him singing live again and I love his new song Survive!
A new flower in my garden!
Shopping!
Not the food shopping, the fun type of shopping for clothes, pretty things and birthday presents for my girls. We had a trip to town mostly window shopping but picked up a few things including a jacket my youngest wanted for her birthday next month. I am so glad I said no to her last month, it was £35 but on Tuesday it was reduced to £15! What a bargain!
Meeting new people!
My youngest Ellie and her boyfriend are pretty serious now and the time came for me to meet his parents. Eek! It happened by accident really, I was in town they were nearby and I was nagged into it by Ellie and her boyfriend. I am glad to say it went well and us parents are on the same page about everything regarding my girl and her boyfriend. Phew! Now there's only my fella Stu left to meet them.
Playing pool!
Wrestling from Saudi Arabia!
I love a big WWE event and the one over the weekend was a good one and it was even better since it started at 6pm UK time! The crowd were amazing and most of the matches were top notch too. I found myself shouting at the TV in the last 10 minutes, it was chaotic. There was cheating, interference and wrestlers flying all over the place, just what I want to see! hehehe
Summer dresses and bare legs!
Often I wear dresses with leggings or tights underneath but not this week, I have been going bare legged. It has been too hot for any unnecessary clothing! The dresses I've worn have been in my wardrobe for years without much wear so it was has been nice to get some use out of them and some sun on my pale legs which aren't looking so pale now.
Weekend plans!
We actually have plans over the weekend which I am very excited about. It's not often both my fella and my eldest are off work on a Saturday so we're making the most of it. I will of course write more about what we have been up to next week.
What have you loved over the past week?
I listened do the song you posted by Lewis Capaldi and loved it!! I was not familiar with him before hearing him here! I enjoyed your 'favorites' post. Thanks for wishing us a happy 4th! Enjoy your Saturday with the family together! Have a blessed weekend and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to have plans- it's great when it works out for family to be off on the same day, especially on a weekend. Your week sounds really good and I hope your weekend is a great one!
ReplyDeleteThat flower from your garden is just lovely! I still remember my husband's and mine "meet the parents" night; we had them meet up at a local diner and we talked of a vacation I was planning/hoping to go on with them. Luckily it went well and I remember having a great time on that vacation.
ReplyDeleteIt's been ridiculously hot here too. What a pretty flower in your garden! So fun to meet your daughter's boyfriends parents - glad it went well!

The pansy is beautiful! It's not one I recognise, might only be native to your country. We've mainly had highs in the 90s here this summer, and now that July is here, we'll get the usual 100s pretty soon. We've had more rain than in the past few years, so the garden is thriving at my son's. Just wish we'd gottwen it started sooner for onions. Haha! Have a lovely and blessed weekend, Kim! 💛
ReplyDeleteAww, meeting the "in-laws", the relation is that serious. I'm happy to hear that it went well, the parents' support is important.
