This week my Word of the Week is:
My life seems to have two settings. Slow and a bit boring or full on chaotic. There doesn't seem to be an inbetween at the moment. It’s either tumbleweeds rolling by or I’m running around like a headless chicken. This week has been the latter with lots going on!
On Friday afternoon it was decided I was going to meet Stu from work and we were going to go on a little date while the girls were having their own night out. It sounds simple enough except at 3.38pm I was still sat in my pyjamas, make up free and in my comfy clothes after a trip to my dad’s. By 4.36pm I was on a bus, house locked up, hair and makeup done, dressed nicely and looking like I’d had it all planned for days. It was the fastest I had got ready in years. lol
The rest of the week carried on in the same chaotic fashion. Nobody seemed to be where they were supposed to be and by that I mean they've all been doing things out of our usual routine. The girls got back home after their night away on Saturday afternoon (they had a great night away), Ellie went off to see her boyfriend and was home later than usual, Becky was out with her friend on Sunday which doesn't usually happen, Stu had a few days off work and Becky too which was acceptable with it being her birthday this week. It was Ellie's first full week in college, well the two half days and full day that she does which is going to take some getting used to.
On Monday I was cooking a full on roast chicken dinner (it was amazing) and decided to go to the farm shop instead of just the supermarket for some carrots and cabbage and I am so glad I did. I always forget how much nicer everything is from there. The carrots were the size of baseball bats compared to the sad little ones you get at the supermarket.
Stu took Becky off to play pool on Tuesday afternoon and then Ellie met up with them so I had a few hours home alone and it was nice. As much as I love my family it doesn't feel like I've had much time to myself since Ellie finished college for the summer at the end of June and just when I think we're getting back into a routine the kids go and have birthdays and Stu takes time off work. hehehe
Wednesday was Becky's 23rd birthday! It still doesn't seem real that I am a mam to a 23 year old. I told Becky that when I was 23 she was already a few months old and let’s just say her face was a picture. She couldn’t imagine having kids at the moment as she’s far too busy enjoying life, as she should be. She certainly enjoyed Wednesday. We had a trip out looking around the shops, our first Pumpkin Spice drinks of the year, a family meal, she went out with friends and rolled in after 4am. I don’t know how she does it, I’d still be recovering now!
Ellie and I went to my dad's on Thursday to have a catch up and lunch with him. It seemed so strange being there on a Thursday as we always go to his on a Friday but yesterday Ellie and I had plans. She had an appointment and wanted me to be there and she also wanted me to buy her breakfast and a Pumpkin Spice drink from Starbucks. I was not going to say no! hehehe
So today I am home alone and I am very happy about it. I am planning on giving the house a good clean while blasting some music, burning my strongest wax melts which my family hate and then making my way to the kitchen to do some baking with the apples and pears which I picked from my dad's fruit trees.
Eventful sums up the past week perfectly. It’s been busy, a little chaotic at times but filled with plenty of brilliant moments too. I’m hoping next week brings a bit more calm and I am sure it will as everyone is back at work and where they should be and I don't have any plans at all! Phew!
How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one! I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!
Good day, Kim!!! I love reading about your week. I so have been in this season. It is eventful!!! Your day sounds perfect! I love to get my strongest smelling wax melts going!!! Have a super weekend. I have missed a lot of reading posts. I will catch up!!!
ReplyDeleteYour week sounds so busy and good! I'm glad that Becky had a great birthday celebration. A mom at 23- you were young :). How fun to get to visit your dad and have lunch with him. Busy weeks are fine by me as are the non busy ones- enjoy the rest of your weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy week has been pretty chill compared to yours! How nice to have a date night with Stu!! Glad the girls had some fun together! Time does go so fast!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like we've had similar weeks! I can so relate to loving your family but needing a little time at home alone. I don't know what it is, but it just feels nice to have a day with no one around at home every once in a while. Happy belated birthday to your daughter! You don't look like you could have a 23 year old!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your daughter!

That's an eventful week indeed, but also lovely. Happy birthday to Becky. xx
ReplyDeleteYour week sounds fab, to be fair. The 'girls' are growing up so fast too! Happy birthday to your eldest. I'd love to hear what you are baking with the apples and pears. We got some from a friend too but now wondering if we should bake with them. We are fat enough, we both think. But then again we could share with the neighbours. Have a fab week next week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a whirlwind of a week! I'm tired just reading about it lol. It does sound like you've had a lovely and full week especially celebrating Becky turning 23.
ReplyDeleteI hope you've had a nice quiet weekend x
Happy birthday, Becky. Glad she had a great day. My eldest has just turned 23 too and it doesn't seem possible. Summer holidays were long this year and I loved it, but it might be nice to have some time to myself. Hope the apples and pears baking turned out delicious.
ReplyDeleteHA! Life is like that right? I want just average - lol we have come out of 2 months of chaos and I am so looking forward to the boring! (My kids not so much)
ReplyDeletedefinitely an eventful week. I'm glad Becky enjoyed her birthday. When I was 23 I had a baby and was expecting number two. My daughter is the same age I was when I met Graham and I was considered too old to have any more children. She was a bit shocked to hear that but she doesn't want children anyway. (I ended up having 3 more after a tricky start) It's like I had my own grandkids, lol. Only, I never got to hand them back to their parents at the end of the day. It sounds like a chaotic but fun family life at the moment. I'm glad you managed some time for yourself too x
ReplyDeleteYes! I feel like that too; either it's a really quiet, uneventful week or I have a million things going on. This week is crazy busy since I'm trying to make up for everything that didn't get done when we were on vacation plus I started school with Evan. Isn't it funny to look at our kids and think of what we were like/doing at their ages? Could you imagine being a grandmother already?!
