This week my Word of the Week is:
Just when I think mine and my families lives are ticking along nicely with no chaos, no tears and no random surprises drama comes and kicks us up the backside. It’s like it’s sitting there thinking, Ooh, things look a bit too peaceful over there, lets spice things up a bit! We’ve had a bit of something going on this week. It’s not really my story to tell so I’ll leave out the details but let’s just say it’s been a week! By Wednesday it felt like I'd lived a full week but thankfully since then things have calmed down and life has been a bit quieter.
What’s funny, maybe not funny but interesting is how different I am compared to about 15 months ago when drama last came knocking. (This is a whole new drama, not related to last years). Back then I was a total wreck. Not eating properly, barely sleeping and jumping at every phone call. The smallest thing would send me spiralling but this time I've surprised myself. I’ve actually handled it all really well with no tears, no panic and no losing sleep over the what if's. I’ve just calmly dealt with it, I didn't know I had it in me! I feel like past experiences have toughened me up a bit and over time I've started to realise I can cope and everything always works out in the end.
It’s not just my our household that’s been hit with the drama this week. Someone in my extended family has been in hospital. They went in for one thing and came out diagnosed with something completely different. Thankfully they’re doing OK now and should be back to normal soon but it gave everyone a bit of a fright for a few days.
On Tuesday the girls went to Hull Fair, it's a big thing here. It was a last minute thing so I didn't have much time to stress about them going. They had the best time, went on the rides and got some amazing food to eat. Yorkshire pudding wraps, Mac & Cheese and Chinese Noodles. Their drama came when it was time to get the bus! Stu and I passed by on Saturday evening and it was chaos, people fighting to get on the buses. I raised my voice to some youngsters who weren't moving down the bus to let more people on when there was standing room only! Things hadn't improved much by Tuesday evening but at least the bus company had the sense to put a double decker bus on. Becky was panicking, she never said it but I know her. lol They got on and were home just after 10pm. Phew!
So, it's Saturday and we're all home today, even Stu! It's his weekend off and we have no plans at all for today, tonight or tomorrow. We are going to have a drama free weekend, well apart from watching drama on the TV. hehehe
How has your week been? I hope you have had a good week. I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay to join in with her Word of the Week linky.
I am sorry to hear that there was some drama. Unfortunately these things happen, but the fact that you dealt with it so much better than last year is the best thing. Well done for that. I hope everything will be sorted quickly. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteThe drama sounds stressful but good for you for handling the stress the way that you did. It´s good that you recognized that you handled it better, too. One thing about improvement in an area is recognizing when you´ve improved or have overcome something. The bus situation sounds stressful, too. Thankfully your girls made it on the bus and got home at a decent hour. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteDrama - ugh! That's downright inconsiderate not to move down the bus aisle to let more people on.
ReplyDeleteHi, I hope you have a restful weekend after all the drama. I am like you, I have gotten better at handling difficult things that are out of my control, but it still is not easy.
ReplyDeleteHugs!!
