Our weekly meal plan! 17th - 23rd March! #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Apparently sharing my meal plans and talking about food means that I have food issues? What an odd thing to say but someone commented saying that on my meal plan last week. (It wasn't the first comment from this particular person, just the first one that I chose to publish). I was always taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all but I feel like I need to say this. If you don't like what I post and share simply don't read, no one is forcing you to and rude and hurtful comments will not be published. People are strange and that's all I'm going to say about that.

Last weeks meal plan mostly went to plan. I am blaming Stu for messing things up. hehehe He had a few days holiday from work to use up before April and had Friday and Saturday off from work. He told me weeks ago he booked the time off but didn't remind me until Tuesday. He suggested getting a takeaway on Thursday evening and I wasn't going to say no, we had the leftovers on Friday. Past me must have known Stu was off work this weekend as I had booked the Gousto Box to be delivered on Sunday so that meant we didn't have the Honey & Mustard Glazed Sausage Baguettes until then.

I made the Yorkshire Puddings to go with the roast chicken dinner during the week and they were an improvement on last time, not as risen as I would like but we're getting there but our favourite thing were the black pudding sausages! Sausages with black pudding in, what's not to love.

I have a few things on this week which will keep me busy and I am determined to start planting some seeds. The weather is set to improve towards the end of the week, hooray and I looking forward to getting back out in the garden! We had some really crazy weather last week. One minute it was like a spring day the next it was grey and wet, then we'd have some more sunshine then some hailstones and sleet just for fun.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Toad in the Hole, mashed potato and veg. I'm cheating and using the Aunt Bessie pre-made one's that I just need to pop in the oven.
Tuesday - Gousto meal - Sri Lankan-Style Pork Patties With Sweet Potato Fries.
Wednesday - Gousto meal - Mushroom Wellington With Onion Gravy And Mash. We love this meal and have had it before.
Thursday - Jacket potatoes with baked beans and cheese.
Friday - Fish, chips and mushy peas.
Saturday - Gousto meal - Crispy Chicken Katsu Curry Burritos.
Sunday - A roast dinner of some sort.

What are you eating this week?

  2. All these sound so tasty, I'm currently losing weight through Slimming World so I'm glad to find a foody blog, although I'm sure I recognise your name from before I took a break from blogging a few years back xxx

    1. Good luck with Slimming world. I am not really a foodie blog but thank you for your visit and welcome back. x

  3. What's a Toad in a Hole? Sounds like a fun name for food. I agree with you - if you don't have anything nice to say, don't comment. People are so un-polite online. #MMBC

    1. Toad in the hole is sausages cooked in Yorkshire pudding batter! It's so good especially with mashed potato and onion gravy.

  4. Ugh! Yes I keep seeing that a lot of us that link up together have attracted a certain anonymous commenter that always has such snarky, rude comments (that are admittedly sometimes a bit funny) and I always think the same thing about being taught to just say nothing if you have nothing nice to say. No one is forcing you to read and comment so just move on.. I mark their comments as spam every single time. Your week sounds yummy! We are having a "traditional" (though I'm sure it's more American than anything Irish) corned beef dinner tonight. We'll have some homemade turkey soup tomorrow, I know later in the week we're making chicken fajitas... and that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

  5. Some people just have way too much time on their hands. I don't understand negative comments on something as innocuous as food. Why the need to comment...just move along if it's not your cup of tea. Its certainly not controversial content lol. I for one love to read what everyone is eating and see menus and meal plans. It often inspires me to do something different or dig up an old recipe I haven't made in a while.

  6. Sorry to hear about the food comments. I enjoy reading your meal plan blogposts, you've often inspired me or reminded me of recipes that I haven't cooked for a while :)

I don't understand why anybody would comment negatively, it's your choice to post what you want on your blog and everybody else's decision to read or not. Please don't stop sharing your menus!

  8. I love toad in the hole, but find it always ends up a bit stodgy when I make it. It's fine if I make the Yorkshire pudding separately, just not in the same dish. Sorry you've had negative comments. I like your meal planning. Organised but real.

  9. I love that you write your menu plan as it helps me find new ideas and recipes to try for me and my son on the weeks when my husband is on late shifts and therefore not eating with us. He is a meat and 2 veg man so it is great to try different meals. Thank you and please keep writing you menus.

  10. I read that comment. It's so rude!!! I don't see anything wrong with sharing the meal plan or pictures of the food. It is an important part of our life, just as travelling or work. My last post was about a hotel and restaurant. :)) I don't publish anonymous comments or particularly rude ones.

It's been a while since I had jacket potatoes. I should make some soon.

  11. I'm sorry you had to deal with a mean comment. I went back and read it. Good grief- the information about what is in the post is in the title. If someone doesn't care to read about what's on someone's menu then don't read it. So rude! Your meals all sound so good! I love reading about your British terms and British foods :).
