This week my Word of the Week is: Watching! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Watching

I've had a busy week doing lots of things that I don't usually do, all good things and I have done a lot of watching of various things over the past week and it wasn't just the TV either!

Becky has had her 2nd week off work and it has been lovely watching her and her sister get along. Her and Ellie are not always the best of friends so when they do get along it warms my heart. The times when they have been getting along have mostly been plotting and ganging up on me, in the nicest possible way, well mostly! At the moment they are obsessed with playing pool, Becky took her dad to the pool bar for Father's Day and this week I decided to go along with them to see what all the fuss was about. It's not my cup of tea but it was nice to see them having fun together even if they did get a bit competitive. It also gave me an idea for Becky's birthday! She has always loved playing pool and has off and on over the years and has always asked or thought about buying her own pool cue, well I said I would get her one. Have you seen the price of them? I thought they would be about £20 with a case, nope! They're a lot more expensive. Eek!

Of course I have been watching TV. The live wrestling event from Saudi Arabia and of course Glastonbury Festival. I thought it was good but not as good as previous years. My highlights were seeing Lewis Capaldi, Alanis Morissette, The Script, Wet Leg and CMAT who was totally new to me but I had seen everyone dancing to her song on TikTok. She is fantastic! What a performer: energetic, entertaining and just a little bit crazy!

I watched all of the latest season of Squid Game over the weekend. I enjoyed it. The hide and seek game was brutal and I still can't believe the final winner. I've watched some of the tennis from Wimbledon and the Women's Euro 2025 football tournament kicked off mid-week and I have seen a couple of matches. It's just another one of those things, girls are better than boys. hehehe There certainly is a lot less dramatics! They seem to fall and they mostly get straight back up without needing medics and magic water sprayed on them.

During the week I met Ellie's boyfriends parents and it was hilarious to watch her and her boyfriends faces while me and his mum were talking about them both. I think if they could have dug themselves a hole and crawled into it they would have. They cringed so hard while us mums were sharing stories and laying down some ground rules for them. hehehe We're all on the same page and it's good to know the boyfriends parents are lovely people!

Over the the past couple of weeks I have watched my garden come to life. One day there was a couple of flowers now there are about 10 different types and colours. It was lovely on Wednesday to watch the rain falling. It wasn't even that fine, rain it was big, real raindrops! I ended up having to run around shutting the windows at the front of the house as it was coming inside. I'd like to say it cooled things down again but by teatime it was hot and sticky again! Hmmf.

How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one! I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!

  1. I love it when I see my three interact together in a good way. Bodes well for the future, I think. I've not looked at the price of pool cues for a while, but I can imagine they've gone up like everything else. Must be a second hand market for them.

We didn't watch as much of the Glastonbury coverage this year. It was a busy weekend. We did get caught in the traffic once, but love spotting the car stickers as they make their way on site. More helicopters going over too, as VIPs are flown in. We try to avoid the area, but you can spot the silver snake of a fence. Everyone has a story to tell about Glastonbury in town. Usually about how they'd go through the hedge to get in. Not anymore though.

Hope you have a lovely week.

  2. It is really heart warming when siblings get along well and then hard to see when they aren't! I'm glad your girls have found something in common to enjoy even though it gets competitive when they play pool together. How great to meet the boyfriend's family and to be on the same page with them. You'll have to post some garden pics soon :). Have a great weekend!

  3. I used to love playing pool in my late teens, I never knew what I was doing but it was good fun. I hope Becky enjoy the new cue you buy her, I can imagine how expensive they are nowadays.
The highlights of Glastonbury are handy on iplayer, not sure I could watch the whole thing. Alanis was fantastic.
It's good you got to meet Ellie's boyfriends parents, I did laugh at them cringing though.
    Hope you're having a good weekend x

  4. I've been watching Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte - done with all the seasons and looking forward to the next!! I am also stuck on The Repair Shop. I'm not into sports. Kept up with the big things when my Joe was alive. He loved them all, but I don't watch them now. How fun to have some great time with your girls!! I know you cherish it!! xo

  5. I haven't really watched Glastonbury this year, but I absolutely love Alanis Morissette. I used to listen to her loads when I was younger.
It's lovely that your girls have been getting along. My two have their moments, but it's nice when they're not bickering.
Oh, I loved Squid Game! I was not expecting that at the end though, what a twist!
Glad you got to meet Ellie's boyfriend's family. I'm so happy that you all get along and want the best for them both. I bet it's such a relief to know all is OK and that she is happy.
Hope you're having a lovely weekend matey. xx

  6. Watching kids interact is always such a treat - I love seeing how they treat each other, speak, plot, plan etc.
I love watching my garden change - we are in winter now so I am watching it go to sleep which is also special in its own way.
