This or That: Summer Edition!

It feels like summer, smells like summer and sounds like it too! Tis the season of sunshine, sandals and sipping something cold in the garden while pretending not to notice the ever growing laundry pile indoors! I thought it would be fun to play a little game of This or That, this time it's the Summer Edition!

Ice cream cone or ice lolly?

It depends on how hot it is. If it is just hot I would choose and ice cream but if it is scorching outside I would go for an ice lolly. Something icy always cools me down. I am not fussy what type as long as it's cold.

Sunbathing or shade lounging?

Shade lounging definitely! I used to love sunbathing, I remember being a teenager and my friends and I would cover ourselves in baby oil and soak in the sun. Damaging our skin was the last thing on our minds back then and I feel lucky that my skin has held up quite well. Now I hate sitting in the sun, I just feel sweaty and sticky. It is no fun at all. Give me the shade anytime!

Water park or amusement park?

Amusement park as long as I don't have to ride any rollercoasters. I have been on some big and fast one's in the past but I seem to have got more fearful the older I have got.

Ice cream van or seaside chippy?

Ohh! Fish and chips by the sea is something special! I don't know if it's because I'm out in the fresh air or eating with my hands that makes the difference but fish and chips somehow taste better by the sea.

Coconut scent or mango scent?

Coconut! That just screams summer to me. I am using a coconut body lotion at the moment and I love it.

Stay in the UK or travel abroad?

Stay in the UK. I have never been out of the UK and I don't really feel like I want to. I know what's what here and I am not a fan of hot weather so I am happy staying on home soil.

Sausages or burgers on the BBQ?

This is a really tough choice, I love both. At this moment in time I think I would choose a burger as long as it's not too well done.

Slushie or smoothie?

Slushie. I rarely have slushies but I do love them on a red hot day! I want that brain freeze feeling while it cools me down.

Street food or bring your own picnic?

If we are going out for the day I would say street food. I don't want to be carrying a bag around with a picnic in but at the same time I do love a picnic. There's nothing better than a scotch egg or mini sausage roll.

Corn on the cob or coleslaw?

Coleslaw. I like corn on the cob but it is a faff to eat and messy too.

Sand between your toes or water up your nose?

Both sound like some sort of torture but I think I would go with water up my nose. Sand between my toes seems to be so hard to get rid of!

Summer playlist: 80s, 90's hits or current chart?

Definitely 90's hits. I was a teenager in the 90's and have so many memories associated with songs. Spice Girls Wannabe, Livin la vida Loca, The Macarena, Mmm Bop, Barbie Girl, I want it that way, Genie in a bottle and so on and so on. They all seem like cheesy, pure pop songs but that is what I like.

Slip 'n slide or bouncy castle?

Now I would say a bouncy castle when I was a child a slip and slide. My brother and I made one when we were kids from plastic tarpaulin and pinching the washing up liquid out of the kitchen, my mother was not amused.

Seaside rock or candyfloss?

Candyfloss! Whenever we visit a fair or a local event which has stalls selling sweet treats I always get myself some candyfloss.

Big floppy hat or sunglasses?

I would choose sunglasses! I rarely wear a hat of any sort in the summer but refuse to leave the house without sunglasses!

This or That: June Edition!

June always feels like the warm up act for the summer’s big performance! The days are longer, the sandals are starting to make an appearance and there’s a constant debate about whether or the weather is OK for a BBQ. To celebrate the start of sunny season I’ve put together a little round of This or That questions perfect for getting into the summer spirit.

Hanging baskets or garden gnomes?

Ohh! I love both but think I would have to go for the gnomes, especially the fun, cheeky looking kind. I keep thinking about buying a few for the garden but my family keep talking me out of it.

Deckchair snooze or hammock nap?

A hammock nap for sure! I wish I had somewhere to hang one, I do love the idea of them. They seem so much more relaxing than sitting in a deckchair.

Watering plants or mowing the lawn?

Watering the plants, definitely! I hate mowing the lawn, that is my fellas job and mine is to deal with the plants and I do love watering them.

Making daisy chains or playing swingball?

It depends on how energetic I am feeling. I think I will go for making daisy chains. It reminds me of being a child and sitting on the school field at break time with my friends making them. My family for sure would choose swingball! It is such fun!

June rain or surprise heatwave?

I will take the rain for June as long as we get a little bit of heat in the following months.

Pimm’s in the garden or cider at the pub?

Cider at the pub, yes please! I am not a fan of Pimm's. I know it's a real summer thing but it isn't for me.

Strawberries & cream or scones with jam & cream?

Strawberries and cream! Especially when the tennis is on the TV, it's such a British thing eating strawberries and watching Wimbledon.

Day at the beach or picnic in the park?

I would love a day at the beach, it seems such a long time since we went to one. The nearest beach to us is either a bus and train ride or 3 buses away. We are determined to go during the summer though.

Paddling in the sea or rock pooling?

I like a paddle in the sea. Rock pooling makes me anxious, the rocks are always so slippy and the little critters hiding in the rocks scare me. My girls do love it though.

Seaside arcade fun or fairground rides?

A seaside arcade! I love the 2p machines and the grabber machines. Such fun! I am not a fan of fairground rides unless they are really slow one's.

Glastonbury on TV or a local festival?

I love watching Glastonbury on the TV, it is one of the highlights of my summer. A local festival is nice but they're always so expensive so it's staying home for me.

Garden centre mooch or car boot rummage?

I love a good rummage at a car boot sale. You never know what bargains you will find.

Caravan trip or camping in a tent?

Give me the comfort of a caravan any day! The idea of camping in a tent fills me with dread!

Flip-flops or comfy sandals?

Comfy sandals, I have never been able to find a comfortable pair of flip flops!

This or That: May Edition!

May is one of those inbetween months! A bit spring, a bit summer, a bit do I need a brolly and a bit why am I sweating in a cardigan! It's the month of blossom, garden faffing, Bank Holidays galore and the age old question do I wear a jacket or not? So in true springtime spirit, I’ve whipped up some This or That questions all themed around May!

Gardening gloves or bare hands?

Ohh! I have to use gloves when I am gardening. I am fussy when it comes to getting my hands dirty and I hate the thought of bugs and critters touching me. I also hate the soil and dirt getting under my nails. Yuck!

May rain: cosy or annoying?

It depends what I have to do on the day that it is raining and if we have gone a while without rain, I would say I like it then and find it cosy!

Morning coffee outside or evening drink on the patio?

I like my morning coffee outside when the world is still waking up and everything is peaceful.

BBQ in the garden or picnic in the park?

Ohh! Both have their advantages and disadvantages but I think I would go for a picnic in the park. It is a lot less fuss than organising a BBQ and then having to clean up afterwards.

Dandelions or daisies?

If you ask my garden, that would said dandelions, the grass is covered with them at the moment but I know in a few weeks the daisies will take over and they are my favourite. They remind me of breaktimes when I was at school, sitting on the grass making daisy chains.

Bluebells or blossom trees?

Ohh! I would have to say blossom tree's. There are not many bluebells around near me but there has been plenty of trees with blossom on and I always think that they are so pretty!

Rhubarb crumble or Eton Mess?

This is a tough choice, I love both and think of them as perfect desserts for this time of year. If I had to chose one to eat now I would go for rhubarb crumble because I haven't had it in forever, it has to come with custard though!

Strawberries or raspberries?

Strawberries!! I like raspberries when they are pureed down or the flavour but not whole one's, they are always so tart.

Ice cream or iced coffee?

I want to pick both but I will go for iced coffee as I think of ice cream as more of a middle of summer thing. I have been drinking a lot of iced coffee lately.

Lemon drizzle or Victoria sponge cake?

Neither would be my first choice of cake but I would go for the classic Victoria sponge cake. It was the first cake that I ever learned to bake and teach my girls to bake. So simple, but so good!

Light jacket or denim jacket?

Up until a few weeks ago I would have said a light jacket but now I am all about my new denim jacket. It seems to go well with everything that I own and is just right for the weather we've been having, sunny one minute and chilly the next!

Barefoot in the grass or wellies in the mud?

I would have to say wellies in the mud, I hate walking outside, even on the grass barefoot. It all stems from when I was a teenager I stood on a wasp when I was barefoot and it hurt and still hurt days afterwards!

Open toe shoes or trainers?

Trainers at this time of year and open toe shoes in the middle of summer when it is really hot! I do have a lot of outfits which go with open toe sandals so might have to get them out a bit early this year!

Farmers’ market or car boot sale?

I would say a car boot sale. I do love rummaging for a bargain. My brother goes to them most weeks, selling and he always makes some decent money from them.

May mood: full of plans or taking it slow?

Taking it slow, we have had a busy couple of months so May is going to be about slowing down and spending less money. I have to save those pennies for summer.

This or That! Easter Edition!

It is Easter this weekend, it seems to have came around so quickly even thought it is later this year. I thought it was the perfect time for some fun Easter related this or that questions.

Planning Easter a month ahead or last minute?

I am somewhere in the middle. We don't do much for Easter now that the girls are older. There are no Easter egg hunts, decorating Easter bonnets, decorating eggs or Easter crafts. I bought the chocolate Easter eggs earlier this week so that is my work for Easter done.

This year our Easter weekend is weekend is going to revolve around the wrestling, it's the WWE's big event, Wrestlemania. Becky and I have planned everything. We're going to watch Friday night's Smackdown during the day on Saturday, then watch Saturday's night of Wrestlemania on Sunday and then stay up and watch the 2nd night of Wrestlemania live. It will be a late one. Eek!

Easter basket or Easter egg hunt?

As an adult I would chose and Easter basket filled with lots of chocolate treats and goodies. When I was a child Easter baskets were not a big thing or at least my parents never did them for my brother and I so I feel like I have missed out.

Easter egg hunt with clues or just random hiding?

I think the random hiding is more fun! Doing it with clues can get tricky if little one's can't guess the answer to the clue.

Hide the eggs or find the eggs?

I used to love hiding the eggs for my girls! I always used to lose count of how many I had hidden though so we would always find a few days/weeks later. Oops.

Ham or lamb for Easter dinner?

Definitely lamb! I love it of course with lots of mint sauce! I don't think I have ever had ham or even thought about having ham for Easter dinner.

Hot cross buns or carrot cake?

Ohh! This is a tough choice, I love both. I think for over Easter I would have to go with Hot cross buns as carrot cake is more readily available for the rest of the year.

Easter cupcakes or Easter cookies?

Easter cookies especially if they are shortbread. Yum! Those type are my favourite.

Cadbury Creme Eggs or other brand egg?

Cadbury Creme Eggs!! There is nothing better when it comes to little, snacky type eggs although Cadbury's Mini Eggs come a close 2nd. A good few years ago I am sure they changed the recipe for Creme Eggs and I went right off them but over the last couple of years they have tasted good again! 

Bunny shaped chocolate or egg shaped chocolate?

I always feel bad eating bunny shaped chocolate. hehehe so I will go with egg shaped chocolate. Isn't it strange how chocolate always tastes better in egg form.

Pastels or bright colours?

For Easter pastel colours, bright colours are more for the summer time.

Tulips or daffodils for Easter flowers?

Daffodils! They are such a cheery flower. I always buy some with our grocery shop every week at this time of year. They only cost a couple of pounds for a bunch.

The Easter Bunny or Easter Chick?

Ohh! Easter chicks, they are ever so cute!

This or That: March Edition!

 We are well and truly into March and spring is almost here. March is a month of change one minute it’s cold and drizzly, the next you’re debating if it’s time to ditch the coat. I didn't think I was a fan of this month but I am really enjoying it. We've had pancakes, warmer weather and still have mother's day to come at the end of the month and the clocks changing so the days will get longer but now it's time for some this or that questions!

Rain showers or blustery winds?

Rain showers! Showers mean they stop and start so they're not as bad as relentless rain. I hate the wind, I always worry about things being blown around the garden, it makes me nervous.

Daffodils or cherry blossoms?

Ohhh, tough choice. I would say cherry blossom if it lasted a bit longer so I will go with daffodils, they are probably my favourite flowers. They're so bright and cheery.

Pancakes with lemon & sugar or maple syrup?

Lemon and sugar! Maple syrup is nice but lemon and sugar makes me think of when I was a child. I only ever make pancakes on pancake day, they should be made and eaten more!

Spring allergies or still dealing with winter colds?

Ugh! Still dealing with a cold, at least I know I will get better eventually! I get spring allergies which continue into the summer and they are no fun at all.

Umbrella or just risk getting wet?

I would love to be a person who uses an umbrella but I end up just saying stuff it and risk getting wet. Umbrellas are a faff. 9 times out of 10 it's too windy to use one and I always end up leaving them somewhere.

Still eating winter comfort food or switching to lighter meals?

I am already thinking about lighter meals. Quiche, salad, tuna pasta, seafood and things like that! I love comfort food but also like lighter things when the weather is warm. No one wants to be in a hot kitchen cooking.

Carrot cake or banana bread?

Carrot cake! The answer is always carrot cake to any question about cake. hehehe

Green outfit for St. Patrick’s Day or just not bothered?

I don't bother with St. Patricks Day, here it just seems an excuse to go to the pub and get drunk. 

Buy fresh flowers or potted plants?

Fresh flowers although I have been looking into buying some potted plants for the garden.

Visit a garden centre or a bookstore?

A garden centre, always! Bookstores are lovely but they don't interest me.

Spring cleaning blitz or just tidy as you go?

I love a spring cleaning blitz, especially when the sun is shining giving me some motivation. I turn the music up and it's the only time I actually enjoy cleaning! 

Shopping for new spring clothes or using what’s already in your wardrobe?

This year I will be using what is already in my wardrobe. I bought quite a few outfits last summer which will be great for the spring too.

Fresh citrus scents or floral springtime scents?

I love citrus scents so I would choose them. Floral scents always makes me think of my allergies.

The A to Z blogging challenge.

A few years ago I did the A to Z blogging challenge where I shared a blog post for each letter of the alphabet, I have so many more blog posts since last time and thought it was a good way to share some older things here on my blog.

A is for Apple! More specifically pork and apple burgers. They are a favourite of mine and we had them a few weeks ago. Stu made them and loved the recipe as it was so simple!

B is for Becky! I don't write about Becky as much as I used to, she has her own life now and is doing pretty well for herself if I do say so myself. I still stick with what I said a few years ago when Becky came out as gay, I don't care what my girls are as long as they're happy. She is happy, in a same sex relationship.

C is for Christmas! This post was all about how we celebrated Christmas a couple of years ago. Things sure have changed since my girls were little, there's less toys and actually more time to relax when all the cooking has been done.

D is for Doctors! We have had our fair share of dealing with doctors over the years with the girls hears, Ellie's hearing loss and other things but what a difference a good doctor makes after a run of seeing not so great one's.

E is for Ellie! How is it coming up two years since Ellie left school and went to her prom. She still says prom day was one of the best days of her life. The getting ready, getting there and being there with her friends.

F is for Friends! The hardest part about teenagers is letting them make their own choices about friends. It is such a minefield especially when you throw social media into the mix! My girls have learned a lot from the friends they have chosen, some good one's and some not so good one's.

G is for Gousto! I have been getting Gousto boxes for a few years now and I love using them, I wrote a blog post why I love them couple of years ago.

H is for Hot Chocolate! Does anyone miss drinking hot chocolate in the warmer months? Last year I shared some hot chocolate recipes. I never think of drinking it when it's warm out but at this time of year I drink one most days.

I is for ICEBREAKER Pop! A faff free kitchen gadget that makes ice cubes. I reviewed it years ago and actually bought another as it was so good. We always have ice cubes in our freezer now.

J is for Jungle! Every year when celebrities go into the jungle for I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of here I get so many views on my Iceland I'm a Celebrity Bushtucker Trial Game - Review!! It was such a laugh and we still talk about it now when I'm a Celeb is on.

K is for Kim! Me! I did an introduction to me a couple of years ago for a linky which I join in with. Nothing much has changed about me since that blog post apart from my hair colour, as of writing this it's a brighter pink.

L is for Lemon! Lemon & Blueberry Muffins! I have made these a few times over the last year. My girls refuse to eat a normal breakfast so things like this are great to get something in their stomachs on a morning. They can grab and go!

M is for Movies! A couple of years ago I shared lots of my favourite movies, my top 5 from different genres. I think my favourite to write was the Christmas one although it was so hard to pick just 5.

N is for Night! It seems ages since I had a girly night out. I do like the idea of putting some make up on, wearing a nice dress and drinking some cocktails but I think I have got to that age where I would much rather stay in my pj's with a couple of glasses of wine in front of the TV.

O is for Outside! I shared 50 outdoor family activities to do this summer. We do a lot of these things every year!

P is for Pizza! I shared a bit of a story about pizza and how I was allergic to cheese for a long time and how I discovered that I wasn't. hehehe

Q is for Queen! My word of the Week was Sombre around when the Queen died. It really was a sad time and seems much longer ago than a couple of years ago!

R is for Rats! This is one of my most viewed blog posts ever! All about how we had rats under the floorboards upstairs!. I am guessing it is a pretty common thing. I can happily say since 2020 the rats have not been back.

S is for Shein! Last year I bought quite a bit from Shein and I know it's sometimes frowned upon but it's cheap and everything I have bought has been decent quality. I bought some fab clothes for summer and they are all good for this summer too.

T is for Tag! I do love a blog tag and my favourite over the last couple of years to do was the Doctor Who one. All of my family love Doctor Who, especially Ellie. We made a point of watching the new series together.

U is for Update! I have found my Project 365 blog posts a great way to do a little life update. Sharing the normal things which have been going on in my life from the past week.

V is for Vacuum! Years ago I was sent a couple of Dyson Vacuums to review and can you believe the big one is still going! It does get blocked easily and sometimes overheats but it still does the job!

W is for Wrestling! I am a big fan of the WWE, the wrestling and I got back into watching it again last year. I love it! I don't miss a show now!

X is for X-Rays! I only have one blog post to do with something starting with X. All about mine and my families broken bones.

Y is for - Yearly! I love writing the blog post at the end of the year, recapping how it went and what we got up to. Last years was an interesting one to write.

Z is for Zero! I have Zero tolerance for bullies! My girls have had their fair share of bullying throughout their lives and I won't stand for it and neither will my girls.

So there you go. Some letters were easier to choose than others and it took a couple of days with my thinking hat on but I got there in the end.

Reflecting on 2024!

This isn't my usual blog post for a Sunday. My usual Project 365 blog post will come on Wednesday, I wanted to put the end of the year in one post and start the next one in the new year, in it's own post. Today I am reflecting on the the year that was 2024! What a year I have had! We've had some real up's and downs. I have used the same questions to reflect on the year for the past few years but all I can think of to answer them is things that happened over the summer, a time I would rather forget so I came up with some new questions!

What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?

Getting through it. lol That is partly true but I am also so proud that I have raised strong and independent girls who know right from wrong. Ellie has especially had a challenging year and has really had to make some brave decisions but she has came through it with her head held high and is looking forward to 2025! A new year and new start is so true for her.

Did you try something new or step out of your comfort zone?

I hate getting the bus myself but this year I have had to, lots of times. It might seem like a stupid, simple thing but it has really pushed me out of my comfort zone! I have also found myself going into cafes and coffee shops myself and ordering my own drinks which I hate doing while I have been waiting because the buses have got there too early or too late. It has been a really big thing for me.

What was the biggest lesson you learned this year?

Go with your gut instincts about people as your first thoughts/fears are usually right!! I always like to think the best about people but this year has taught me that I need to be more wary of people and not to trust them so soon. 

What were the highlights of your year?

The days out and breaks away we have had! Mostly they have been shopping trips or trips to the cinema but the weekend at Hull Comic Con Mania was fantastic. Becky has had some fantastic breaks away with her girlfriend and even Stu and I had a night away when we went to York Christmas Market.

Was there a moment that made you laugh until you cried?

 I had a whole weekend of laughter when a nearby agricultural show happened. There were a lot of moments! We started off at the pub with a table full of us singing and dancing to the singers that were on. We found ourselves laughing lots at people around us. Funny dancers, kids who came across from the park peeking over the pub wall and trying drinks that we had never had before. Then show day we got caught in the rain which caused much hilarity, seeing my brother trying to keep his son from running off, seeing my girls on fairground rides and regretting going on them and then back to the pub for more laughs.

Did you make any new friends or reconnect with old ones?

Yes, I did make a couple of new friends through my blog. They were friends but just through commenting, some of those have since emailed or messaged me and we've chatted which has been nice. I reconnected with a couple of old friends who were there just when I needed them and couldn't have been more grateful. 

How have you changed or grown over the past 12 months?

Yes, I am not the most confident person but this year I have spoken up many times when I needed to. I have needed to find that confidence to fight for the right outcomes for my family. I have also lost about 3 stone in weight, I needed to lose it but it wasn't intentional. It's amazing what stress does to you. 

Did you achieve the goals you set for the year?

I have achieved more than I thought I would. We decorated the kitchen, had a night away with just Stu and I, got an air fryer and some other things. I am pleased with what I have achieved considering...

What was your favourite book, show, or movie of the year?

Book - Anne's book! My Life With Stiff Person Syndrome. Anne is an amazing person and blogger and shared some of her life in a book all about what she has dealt with and is still dealing with living with Stiff Person Syndrome.

Show - I would have to say Bridgerton! I was so late in watching it but it was bloody brilliant! The costumes, music and romance of it all got me well and truly hooked!

Movie - It has to be Wicked!! I loved it and I am now obsessed with the soundtrack!

Was there a purchase or gifts that brought you joy?

We bought an air fryer at the start of the year and it's not only brought me joy but it has made my life so much easier! I use the air fryer now more than my oven.

What was your highlight of 2024?

Christmas Eve - This or That Questions!

Happy Christmas Eve! I hope you are all ready for the big day? We are having our Christmas dinner today as Becky is working tomorrow and wouldn't be able to enjoy it to the fullest! It seems strange but it means I will be able to fully enjoy tomorrow, eating leftovers, opening presents and just relaxing.

Anyway here are some fun and festive Christmas Eve this or that questions!

Christmas Eve: Stay up late or go to bed early?

I want to go to bed early but will probably stay up late enjoying the build up to Christmas! There is no rush to get up in the morning as I don't have the dinner to cook.

Hot cocoa or drinking mulled wine?

Hot cocoa! Mulled wine is nice but that is more of a drink to drink when your outside.

Christmas Eve movie: Home Alone or Elf?

Ohhh!! Tough choice! I think Home Alone and only because I watched Elf last Christmas Eve and I have already watched it a few weeks ago.

Opening one gift on Christmas Eve or waiting until Christmas Day?

As much as I would like to open one on Christmas Eve I always wait until Christmas day and make my family wait too. We always get new pj's and a new mug on Christmas eve so the treats are still there.

Real tree or artificial tree?

I would love a real one but I can't be bothered with the cleaning up so it's an artificial one for us. I love my decorations on our tree, it's all Harry Potter themed!

Wrapping paper or gift bags?

As much as I hate wrapping presents, I couldn't do just gift bags. There's something special about ripping wrapping paper off a present. Oh and picking it all up too when the presents have been opened. lol

Snowy or Sunny Christmas?

I would love to wake up to a white Christmas but ideally by the afternoon the snow will have gone and the sun would be shining.

Mistletoe or Christmas lights?

Christmas lights. Mistletoe is just boring. The lights are pretty and make me happy. Although if Roman Reigns or Robbie Williams was under the mistletoe, that might be different. hehehe

Matching Christmas PJs or ugly Christmas sweater?

My family and I always have matching Christmas pj's. This year saw my girls saw the Power Ranger onesies in Primark but I said no! We went with something else.

Christmas pudding or mince pies?

Today, mince pies! Tomorrow Christmas pudding!

Silent night by the fire or festive night out?

A bit of both. We always go out to join in with the carols around the town's Christmas tree, call into the pub on the way home and then spend the rest of the evening getting excited for Christmas day!

Stockings on the fireplace or hanging at the end of the bed?

As a child mine was always at the end of my bed, I learned as I got older that it was a sure fire way of keeping my brother and I busy while my parents got a little extra bit of sleep. I have always done the same for my girls and for the same reason. 

Candy canes or chocolate?

Chocolate, always chocolate! Although I do like a candy cane dipped in my hot chocolate, it gives it a minty taste.

A Christmas movie marathon or playing board games?

Board games, even if it is Monopoly with my cheating family! By Christmas Eve we've usually watched all of our favourite Christmas movies.

Having everything wrapped or wrapping on Christmas Eve?

I always say I will have everything wrapped well before Christmas but there's always something which needs wrapping. This year I have been wrapping as I've been buying things so there's not much left to do!

Halloween is almost here and I thought I would get into the mood by doing a Halloween tag that I found online. Amazingly a lot of these questions are one's which I have never answered before.

What’s your favourite Halloween tradition?

Halloween has changed a lot for me over the years, I have a blog post all about my Halloween memories tomorrow but now I am at a part of my life where I don't really celebrate it but I do enjoy handing out the sweets to any trick or treaters which come knocking a the door. I love seeing the little one's all dressed up.

What’s your ultimate Halloween candy?

Anything Reese's. Do they still do the pumpkin shaped Reese's peanut butter cup things? I am also a sucker for any type of Haribo! 

What’s your favourite Halloween movie or TV special?

I am not a fan of scary movies, I was put right off them by The Ring. That girl Samara with the hair, who comes out of the TV makes me shudder just thinking about her now. I would say now looking back on it Ghostwatch from the early 90's was amazing! They made it out to be a real documentary and it was terrifying for my brother and I. We got so far into watching it when my dad realised it was too much but let us carry on watching it because he thought it would all be revealed it was a hoax at the end. It didn't! My brother and I didn't sleep properly for weeks along with the rest of the country. It has never been shown on TV since.

Do you decorate for Halloween? If so, what’s your go-to decoration style?

I used to when the girls were younger. We would keep it fun and cute with none of the scary decorations. Now I don't bother. All I have now is a cute Halloween gonk sat on my fireplace.

Do you believe in ghosts or the supernatural?

I do sometimes especially when I see videos on TikTok about spooky things but when it's late on a night and I am going to the toilet I tell myself that ghosts are defiantly not real! 

Have you ever visited a haunted house or done a ghost tour?

No, no and I don't want to. I used to watch Most Haunted on the TV where the crew would visit haunted houses and buildings and watching it was scary enough for me. I would not like to be in the thick of it!

What’s your go to spooky season playlist or song?

This Is Halloween off Nightmare Before Christmas. I Googled it and before writing this I did not know Marylin Manson sung it.

If you could spend Halloween in any fictional universe, where would it be?

It would have to be Harry Potter! I would love to spend some time in Hogwarts with all the professors, students and magic of course.

What's your ideal Halloween party like - scary, funny, or cosy?

Ohh! I like the sound of a cosy Halloween party. I imagine lots of sweets and treats. Hot chocolate, a roaring fire, sweet smelling candles and yummy food.

Would you rather be a vampire, witch, or werewolf for Halloween?

I've watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer enough to know that they all have their advantages and disadvantages. I think the one that comes out the best is a witch, well as long as your girlfriend doesn't get killed and you go out killing people to get revenge. hehehe

15 Would You Rather questions for summer!

Summer is here! Well it was feeling like it when I wrote this blog post on Friday, the weather could have changed by now. I saw these Would You Rather" Questions for Summer and thought they would be fun to answer.

Would you rather have a permanent sunburn or always have sand in your shoes?

Sand in my shoes, I could easily take my shoes off and have some relief. I have been burned by the sun plenty of times and the pain is just the worst.

Would you rather swim in a pool of lemonade or a pool of Coca-Cola?

Lemonade, surely the lemon has to do something good for my skin. I imagine the cola being very sticky when it is warm. Eww!

Would you rather go on a beach holiday with your friends or a mountain retreat with your family?

I know my family well and think a mountain retreat would just give them a reason to complain and it would cause arguments. There would be too much outside for them so I would chose the beach with my friends.

Would you rather eat only ice cream all summer or only drink smoothies all summer?

I like smoothies but I do get bored of them, they all taste pretty similar to me but there is so much choice when it comes to ice cream. Give me the ice cream. hehehe

Would you rather build a sandcastle or a treehouse?

A treehouse, it seems more of a challenge and will last longer.

Would you rather have a summer job as a lifeguard or as an ice cream truck driver?

I would love to be an ice cream truck driver, I always think it's such a fun job when we see our ice cream man go past.

Would you rather spend a day at a water park or at an amusement park?

A water park! I have never been to one before, well unless you could the leisure centres which have pools with a couple of slides.

Would you rather have to eat only hot dogs or only hamburgers for the entire summer?

Ohh! This is a tough one. I love both! I think I would have to say hamburgers as you could add different toppings to the bun, there are more options.

Would you rather have a summer without air conditioning or a summer without ice cream?

Every summer is one without air conditioning here in the UK unless you go to the shops. I can happily go without that.

Would you rather have to sleep in a tent every night of summer or have to sleep in a hammock every night of summer?

Give me the hammock! After the last few nights of sharing a bed with Stu I would be glad to be away from him in a hammock. It's been too hot and neither of us could sleep properly because of the heat.

Would you rather spend a week without internet or a week without your favourite summer treat?

I don't think I could go a day without the internet so I would happily give up my favourite summer treat, ice cream!

Would you rather explore a tropical island or hike through a national park?

I think I would go with hiking through a national park. They look so much more interesting with more to see. When I think of a tropical island I think of beach, sea and a few trees and plants. Boring.

Would you rather be able to teleport to any beach in the world or be able to control the weather?

Control the weather! Right at this moment I would create a little breeze and have half an hours rain to water my garden and plants.

Would you rather have to wear flip-flops everywhere, even to formal events, or have to go barefoot everywhere?

You can get some really pretty flip flops so I would choose them. I don't like the idea of going barefoot everywhere.

Would you rather have a summer romance like in the movies or have the best summer adventures with friends?

Romance is overrated, I would much rather have an adventure with my friends.
