This week has been a week! I got to Tuesday and it felt like it should have been Friday already as it felt like we had so much going on. We're all good though! I’m here today sharing the little things I’ve loved from the past week and of course I’m linking up with Erika and Andrea to share them.
Being brave!
I hate going new places and even more so when I am by myself, my anxiety just doesn’t like that sort of thing. but on Saturday I went to meet my fella from work and got there ridiculously early. Instead of awkwardly hanging about outside or scrolling on my phone for half an hour, I decided to go into a nearby bar and grab a drink. I needed that drink by the time I sat down! I’m convinced I picked the busiest bar in town with people everywhere, music thumping, no tables left except one seat in the corner but I did it! I sat there, had my drink, people watched and waited. It might sound small to some but for me it was big!
These lights!
You know you're getting older when you start noticing decor instead of the drinks menu. I couldn’t stop staring at these amazing lights in the bar, they had little shelves on top with plants on them! Such a clever idea. I found myself wondering if I could I do that at home? They'd have to be fake plants though because I do know water and electricity doesn't mix. lol
A good week of food!
We've stuck to the meal plan and we have really enjoyed what we've been eating and I have enjoyed cooking it too. Sometimes cooking feels like such a slog with all of the chopping, cleaning and trying to please everyone but this week I’ve genuinely enjoyed it. The best meal of the week was the Pea and ham soup! I boiled my own ham for it, which made it extra tasty and it came out perfect. We had it for dinner one night and we enjoyed the left over ham in sandwiches during the week for lunch.
Hull Fair!
I didn’t go to the fair but my girls did and they had the best time. Becky, my eldest, isn’t a fan of the rides and she goes for the food stalls but Ellie is a total thrill seeker. The scarier the ride, the better! She came home buzzing with excitement. I’m secretly glad I didn’t go as my nerves can’t handle watching her spin around upside down at a million miles an hour. I’m much happier hearing about it later when everyone’s back on solid ground and in one piece!
Early Wrestling!
This was such a treat. Normally the WWE events are on at ridiculous times like 1am and I’m way too old to be pulling all-nighters for that now but because they were live from Australia this week it meant the shows were on at 1pm here! Perfect timing! It was so nice to get all my jobs done in the morning and then sit down in the afternoon with a cuppa to watch it live and I’m glad I did because big things happened! There’s something so fun about watching it in real time, knowing everyone else around the world is watching too!
Christmas presents sorted!
For the last few years I have struggled with what to get the girls for their birthdays and Christmas but I feel on top of it this year! They know what they want and I have agreed to buy trainers for Becky and a new phone for Ellie. Then all I have to buy is smaller presents. Phew!
What have you loved over the last week?
Well done, for sitting down in a bar when clearly that's out of your comfort zone. Though at the same time, I think it's okay to stay IN your comfort zone too.
ReplyDeleteI like that light, too. I have a similar style in my dining room, without the plant ledge on top- yes the plants would definitely have to be fake :). Good job for doing something out of your comfort zone and that is so cool about RAW and you getting to watch it live during the day. Have a great Friday!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm so impressed that you have even thought about Christmas gifts...I need to get on that, it will be here so soon! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI went on a walk to our local state park by myself this week since Evan was working and my heart was definitely going double time being by myself (I wasn't even walking on wooded trails; just the paved roads through the park) but it was unsettling being alone. Go you for having your Christmas list already sorted... I haven't even started thinking about it!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's great that you have the big presents sorted. I'm waiting a few weeks - I give Sophia a deadline to finish her Amazon wish list and then I choose from there. This year, we have the boyfriend as well, no clue what to get him so she's going to see what she can find out. Sometimes it's as easy as following them around the DIY store and making note of what they spend a lot of time looking at!
ReplyDeleteI love that you had a drink by yourself at a bar, that is huge!! It's actually on my list of things I want to do, but I haven't plucked up the courage yet. You have inspired me, and I'm going to do it!
ReplyDeleteSitting in a bar alone is out of comfort zone for many people, including me. I'm happy to sit alone in a pub/cafe if it's lunchtime, but in the evening, when it's busy it feels strange, so very well done.
ReplyDeleteNice about the Christmas presents, we had a chat to see how we are doing this year, but didn't agree on anything specific.
You remind me that Christmas is arriving ! My mini family (we are 4) don't want gifts anymore except my grandson who prefers a nicely filled envelope to buy his gift himself. But we will celebrate that's for sure !
ReplyDeleteWell done for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. I think it can be quite daunting walking into a pub full of people when you're alone.
ReplyDeleteGlad your girls had a great time at Hull Fair, and get you being organised for Christmas! I've got a few things, but I need to get so much more. xx
