This week my Word of the Week is:
I know last week was hot and we had all the summer weather but we were plodding along with life without the true feeling of it being summer. Over the past few days it has really felt like summer even with the not so hot weather. Life feels that little bit more relaxed.
Ellie has completely finished college until September. It feels like they have been saying you're finished for weeks. You're finished but you need to check a piece of work, you're finished but we need this form filling in, oh this one too and you're finished but come back in and return your locker key. Everything is now done, hooray! As much as she loves college and I love her going, learning and being with her friends it feels like a weight has been lifted. We get to sleep a little bit later, stay up a little longer and have so much more freedom.
I also think it has felt so much like summer because Becky has been off work too! Having both girls home meant that it felt like summers when they were both at home for the 6 weeks holiday from school but there has been less pressure on me to organise activities and more of them planning their own things. I said a few weeks ago how I was losing track of who was where and this week has been much of the same and next week or so is going to be no better! Becky has said she's going to buy a whiteboard or calendar on so they can both write down where they are going to be. lol
After all of the sunshine and then the rain my garden is looking like it should in the summer with everything blooming! I was getting worried, there was a lot of green but not so much colour but the flowers have came out now! My pumpkin plants are getting huge, my sunflowers are just over half the height of me, there are lots of different coloured flowers appearing and I have even managed to grow some tomato plants from seeds. There's no tomatoes yet but they're doing well, I was late in planting them so I am not giving up hope yet.
Glastonbury Festival is another sign that it is summer and we will no doubt have it on the TV all weekend, watching and singing along. Today we're looking forward to seeing the Kaiser Chiefs, The Script (we really enjoyed seeing them last week when they were at the Isle of Wight Festival), Raye, Weezer, Tom Odell, and Scissor Sisters.
How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one! I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!
Hi Kim!! Sure sounds like summer is now off to a good start for you and the family!! Keep us posted as you can!! Make sure you all have time for some rest and relaxation!! xo
ReplyDeleteI am very jealous of the fact you've had rain! the weather here in the Midlands has been really warm and humid but no rainfall. My kids have finished for the summer too. Karen Early Rising Mum
ReplyDeleteI love any of the school holidays but especially the summer one, life can go at a slower pace and no uniforms to iron.
ReplyDeleteA whiteboard sounds like a great idea, at least you can plan meals a bit better when you know what everyone is doing.
I have my fingers crossed for your pumpkins, I can't with to see them fully grown.
Your garden sounds similar to mine, lots of greenery, but I can see the signs of flowers now. Enjoy the time with the girls #wotw
ReplyDeleteoh you've just reminded me to water my plants..we haven't had any rain. Isn't it great when you don't have to organise activities every day. I do kind of miss it, but all my kids got up early the other day and I was thinking how much I enjoy my alone time, lol.
ReplyDeleteYay to Ellie finishing college for the summer and hope she enjoys the break. It’s nice to be able to have a slower pace with not having to get up so early. Lovely to have Becky off work and have both girls around too. A whiteboard is a great idea. We have one on the fridge and it makes life much easier. Glad everything in your garden is growing so well and hopefully the tomatoes will make an appearance soon. #WotW
