This week has been a really quiet week with not much going on and I was struggling to come up with things that I have loved this week, especially since all the excitement for the week was happening yesterday, today and over the weekend. I have decided to share the tiny, ordinary things which have been bringing a smile to my face. I am of course linking up with Erika and Andrea to share.
Evening cups of tea!
Every evening about 8pm my youngest puts the kettle on and my fella makes us all a lovely cup of tea. There's nothing fancy about it, just Yorkshire teabags, two sugars and just the right amount of milk. It is routine now and part of our lives.
Noticing signs of the next season!
Even though it’s still summer, I’ve started spotting the early hints of autumn. Stormy weather at the start of the week, chilly mornings, brambles on the hedges and that certain smell in the air. It makes excited for cosy jumpers, candles and soup.
Fresh bedding night!
I am convinced that I sleep better after I have changed the bedding and during the week after having a late shower and putting fresh clean pj's on it felt amazing!
A free £5 note!
I pulled a jacket that I haven't worn in ages and found a fiver in the pocket. I don't often use cash, I tend to pay for everything with my bank card so it felt like winning a very small lottery.
Supermarket treats!
I went in for milk, got that and also came out with a couple of chocolate eclairs. Did I need them? No. Did I regret it? Not at all.
Time in the kitchen!
A couple of evenings this week I was cooking tea in the kitchen and the rest of my family joined me. We've chatted about our day, laughed, sung along to the radio and just had some lovely moments.
A cheeky biscuit or two (or four)!
We had a packet of biscuits in the cupboard that I’d forgotten about by which I mean I’d hidden them from the rest of the family and then forgot about them, they didn't last long.
Comfort TV!
Some weeks I want plot twists and edge of my seat drama. Other weeks I just want to watch something I've already seen 20 times. Gavin & Stacey was my pick this week.
Getting all of the washing done!
It doesn't happen often but on Saturday I emptied the washing baskets, got everything washed, dried and put away! I made more work for myself by washing the bath mats, blankets out of the living room but I stopped myself before I started washing the cushion covers, that would have been taking things too far.
Fizzy cola!
I don't drink fizzy pop often but when I do I really enjoy it! I had a freezing cold can of Coke which really hit the spot after being out in the heat.
What have you loved over the past week?
Nice list of favorites- the little things are the ones that add up to a contented life. It's great to take the time to recount those little joys. Spontaneous things were a bit of a theme- spontaneous time together in the kitchen, spontaneously finding money and the biscuits. I love it!
ReplyDeleteYorkshire tea bags are the best! I loved your afternoon tea post.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely week, mate. Cups of tea are my favourite thing, and especially Yorkshire tea, it's all that I will buy.
ReplyDeleteLove that you all got involved in the kitchen. I think some of the best conversations happen in there!
Yay to the washing! That's something to celebrate, and the surprise £5 note.
Have a lovely weekend. xx
I enjoy hot tea now and then, but Kim, I can't put milk/cream in hot tea! Sugar or honey, yes, but not milk. I tried it once and couldn't drink it. Maybe it's how you are brought up? I can and do put a creamer in coffee. Go figure. I like your nightly ritual, though. Good memories for all. Clean sheets always feel so good! You have had a busy and very nice week so far! Happy weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThese are some great favorites from the week! Hope you have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about all your little favourites! Yes to a cup of tea in the evening and fresh sheets. Finding cash in pockets is the best. I remember years ago I found $50 that I stashed in a handbag for an emergency and then forgot. What a win! Hooray for getting all the washing done!
