This week my Word of the Week is: Presents! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Presents

Up until Thursday I had a really quiet week, just pottering around the house trying to stay cool. It has been a bit of a scorcher again. I have been complaining about the heat a lot! I am so glad I could stay inside on Wednesday, the hottest day of the week. My dad called in and told me his rather unique way to cool down. He had got into the shower with his clothes still on and then went outside to let them dry naturally. I thought he’d lost the plot for a moment but apparently it’s scientifically proven to work because the evaporation of water from the wet clothes draws heat away from your body. He swears by it but I think I’ll stick to my trusty fan and ice lollies for now. lol

I mentioned how this week is the start of birthday season in my house. It’s like Christmas but spread out over a few weeks with presents, cards and of course birthday cake! It was also birthday time outside of my house too. Ellie went off birthday present shopping for her friends mam at the start of the week. She bought her a lovely gift and card.

I got a the delivery of decorations for Ellie's birthday early on in the week and was very happy with everything that came including my three outfits that I mistakenly bought, I had meant to remove two after I got Ellie's opinion but forgot. I love all of them and of course will share photos when I get around to wearing them. Turns out the one I had meant to keep is perfect for Ellie's birthday meal, another would be great for a night out, out in town and the third is more of a casual one which I can wear anytime when I want to dress up a little. I'm talking like I have plenty of nights out but I really don't. I think the last time I was out on an evening was at the start of May.

On Thursday Ellie, her friend and me went into town to shop for more presents and cards this time for Stu's birthday and Ellie's friend wanted another mam's opinion on presents for his mam. It was nice to be helpful and some fantastic presents were bought for the other mam.

Stu has everything he wants and needs so it makes it hard to buy him presents. I went with a novelty/practical gift. The Marvel Avengers Thor Hammer Tool Kit! It’s an actual toolkit disguised as Thor’s hammer and honestly it felt about as heavy as the real thing when I was lugging it around town. I also got him a couple of t-shirts, some Funko Pop's to add to his collection and of course some chocolate because no birthday is complete without a sweet treat.

While I was in town I picked up a few more presents for the girls, mostly Becky as Ellie has more than enough. I got Becky a Billie Eilish t-shirt, just from Primark as she had pointed it out a few weeks ago. When she came in that evening she had the same t-shirt on, Ugh! She has bought it herself last week and forgot to tell me. I keep saying it was so much easier to buy the girls presents when they were little as I knew what they had and they wouldn't go off buying themselves things. lol

It’s actually Stu’s birthday today so the celebrations are in full swing. I’ll be back tomorrow with my Project 365 post and to share how it all went and what we got up to.

How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one! I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!

  3. I hope Stu had a great birthday yesterday! It sounds like you got him some fun presents.
That's a shame about the t-shirt for Becky, it's bound to happen though every now and again.
I've heard something similar to what your dad said, it was about going to bed with a cold damp sheet on to keep you cool, not sure I fancy that though.
