I hope you are all having a good week? It's Wednesday which means it's time to join in with the Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond! Each week there are 6 questions, we answer and then link up. Simple!
1. My very first edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge was published on November 10, 2010 (linked here if you're curious). Tell us something about your life from that era.
2010 seems a lifetime ago. My girls were 8 and 3 years old so I was in full mum life mode. Becky was in school and Ellie had started nursery. I did a lot of walking taking the girls to school and nursery, then picking Ellie up at lunchtime and then going back to pick Becky up just after 3pm. It used to take me 10 minutes to walk to the school myself but around 40 minutes with the girls, they were always dawdling. hehehe I do miss doing the school run which I never thought I would say at the time. The best times were at this time of year when it was warm and sunny and we would stop off at the park on the way home.
2. What's a song you love that relates to time in some way?
Summer Time – DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince!
This song is a real summer song!! I think of summer when I was a young teenager with no school, no stress, just sunshine and hanging out with friends. The summer days were the best when I was a teenager!
3. May is nearly upon us. When did you last need to yell 'MAY DAY-MAY DAY!!'?
Off the top of my head it has to be something to do with spiders!! I am not a fan of them and there are a lot about at the moment. I don't mind the little one's but there are a few huge one's knocking about. I shout for help and get my family to take the huge critters outside and I am sure they are just coming back in through a different window. lol My eldest has actually just bought a spider catcher as she is not keen on them either.
4. How do you feel about food trucks? Is this a dining experience you enjoy? Do you have a favorite What's something you've ordered from a food truck?
I like food trucks! There’s something fun about just walking up, ordering and eating right there!
I don't get food from food trucks often, it is more of a summer thing when we have days out. Each year we go to an agricultural show near us and as it's over 2 days we take a picnic on the first day and then hit the food trucks on the 2nd. I love the hot roast pork sandwich truck which is always there and my youngest loves the noodle truck! There's burgers, chips, mini freshly made doughnuts and so much more!
5. We're bidding farewell to April...what are three adjectives you might use to describe the month you're leaving behind.
Blossoming - There has been so much blossom on the trees this year and spring is well and truly here with everything blossoming.
Lively - April seemed like such a busy month for me, especially the Easter holidays. I feel like May is going to be a bit quieter and I am looking forward to it.
Bright - I am loving the brighter and longer days! The sun has mostly been shining throughout April and I hope it continues.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I am writing this blog post, putting off doing the garden. I have weeding to do and lots of it! I will be fine when I get out there, it's just finding that motivation to get moving!
I hope you find your motivation to weed. I finally got my motivation yesterday and I'm so glad that I did! I had been dreading it but once I was out there, it wasn't so bad :). I love the song you referenced- it just screams "summer" (almost literally, ha!).
ReplyDeleteI think those school years are so busy and feel like a lot while you're in them, but are recalled with tenderness when we look back on them. Good luck tackling the weeding. It's a back breaking job.
ReplyDeleteHey, the hodgepodge shares my birthday! That's fun.
ReplyDeleteBlossoming ... Lively ... Bright ... I loved your description of your April. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat motivation is key. Our weeds are taking over here! Nice April adjectives. Happy May to you!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, in 2010 my boys were 6, 4, & 3 so life was very busy! I think that might have even been the year I was working at the school and Ian was in 1st grade and the younger two boys were in pre-school. I think the only time I have eaten from a food truck is at the county fair when I ordered some French Fries.
ReplyDeleteI miss the school run too, that time seems to have flown by so quickly.
ReplyDeleteSummer Time is such a nostalgic hit, it reminds me of lazy summer days just chilling without a care in the world, those were the days!
I enjoyed your answers. I do not like spiders either and once threw out my back for a whole week trying to avoid one that I thought was attached to my foot. Oh boy!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers - I'm not a fan of spiders either, though I'm generally not afraid of them (unless they take me by surprise!) which is good since there's one that's taken up residence in the bathroom at work so I always check its location before I commit to using the toilet! LOL Hope you're having a great week!
