Another week has flown over and it was a good one. I am betting the weekend flies over too as Stu and I have been busy doing our own thing while the girls are living their own lives. It’s such a strange mix of emotions. I absolutely love that they’re off being independent but at the same time it does tug at the heart a bit. So while poor Becky was at work on Saturday night and Ellie was out with friends Stu and I took ourselves for a night out. A nice meal out and a few drinks afterwards in a very lively bar.
Now for a photo every day!

Sunday means one thing in this house, carvery day!! I went for the chicken this time, piled high with all the veggies and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better they had pigs in blankets! In October! That’s basically a Christmas miracle. hehehe.

Socks and Crocs… it’s a look isn’t it? lol I had a quick tidy up in the garden and couldn’t be bothered to go back inside to find proper shoes so this happened. Not exactly a fashion statement but my feet were comfy and warm. Then I came inside and had to tip all the soil out of the Crocs that dropped in through the holes.

I spotted this mystery plant growing in the garden and I have no idea what it is. Every plant ID app I’ve tried has given me a different answer. One says African Daisy and another says Nigella damascena (Love in a Mist). At this point I’m just waiting for it to bloom so I can find out what it is!

So many sponges. Thirty six to be exact. My dad has a habit of buying everything in bulk it’s like living with my own personal Costco supplier and he always shares the haul around. I shouldn't get excited about things like sponges but these are good one's!

The fence saga continues! The men came round to fit a new panel after one blew down in the latest storm and while they were at it they replaced another old one that had seen better days.
283/365 - 10th October
Here’s the new fence, well, the photo I forgot to take yesterday, oops. Only three more panels to go and then the whole fence will be brand new.

Becky was up early and needed something to eat before she went back to bed to sleep for her night shift. She decided to order from Costa. A breakfast wrap and then went for something healthy, yoghurt and granola.
Great pictures from your week! I wear a croc like shoe outside when I garden- I can just hose them off if they get muddy :). Before reading the description, I thought the sponges were multitudes of a type of cheese, lol! I also tend to buy in bulk to save money and then and I have way too many- I can relate to your dad! That plant is really pretty- you´ll have to share what it is when you know :).
ReplyDeleteI love crocs, but we keep our shoes outside and they shrink in the heat! And then of course no longer fit...so I have given them up.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how strange it feels now the girls aren't at home as much. It's good that you and Stu can get out more together for a nice treat.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to find out what the mystery plant is!
Crocs and socks are super stylish, not sure about the soil though lol.
The plant looks like it could be cosmos

Those coffee orders are expensive. I just refuse to use any of the ordering companies. I bought a milk frother for £25 and an expresso machine for £80 and after a month I was quids in with take away coffees, we take it in the van with us and you can make lovely hot chocolates also. Lol at all those sponges, I'd buy in bulk but I'd have to build cupboards to store everything in.
ReplyDeleteGreat week! Are pigs in blankets sausages wrapped in bacon in the UK? Here the sausages are wrapped in a bread dough that bakes up like mini croissants, although not as flaky. Do you have the Croc embellishments that seem to be a thing here? All sorts of decorative little things to put through the holes and anchor on the inside. I'm not sure how comfortable they would be.
ReplyDeleteYep, the pigs in blankets are sausages wrapped in bacon here. They're so good! I've seen the one's wrapped in dough but rarely have them.
DeleteI don't have the things which decorate the Crocs in mine but my girls do. They are popular here too.
All foodie photos are greatly appreciated. No calories but good inspiration.
ReplyDeleteOoh I've just ordered my Christmas pigs in blankets from the farm shop. I ordered extra as the men of house love theirs. I feel you with the girls being independent - and mine's only 14! He's always out on the farm, and rarely comes anywhere with me anymore unless he specifically needs something. Nice that you and Stu got to hear out together though
ReplyDeleteYour carvery meal looks yummy! I had to give up wearing my Crocs because I keep tripping in them. The rubber catches on tiles or carpet and I either do a silly dance to catch my balance, or I face-plant. Love them though! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!!
