Last weeks meal plan went really well, we ate everything that I had planned and the day that I had planned too. I'm getting the hang of this meal planning after years of doing it. hehehe It is hard to pick one favourite meal this week as everything was loved and I even enjoyed cooking everything! Sometimes there’s one dish that doesn’t quite work out or someone isn’t in the mood for it but that wasn’t the case this time.
When I sat down to plan this week’s meals I had to check the calendar twice because for a moment I thought it was already half term. It feels like October has flown by. I realised there’s still one more week before the break from college for Ellie. It’s been a bit confusing this year because some of the local schools have decided to take two weeks off for half term instead of one. Next week all my family will be home, off work and college at the same time which will be lovely. We had made a few plans for half term originally but with some things happening recently we decided it would be better to postpone them. It’s disappointing when that happens but sometimes it’s for the best. We’re already making new plans so it's not all bad.
Over the weekend when my Gousto box arrived Stu helped to carried it inside but then he decided to "help" unpack it too. I have a bit of a system when it comes to unpacking the box, I like to sort things in a certain order so that it’s easier to find what I need later. Stu’s version of unpacking is more of a just get everything out and put it somewhere approach which completely threw me off. Even Ellie said he should probably just let me do it my way. It did make me laugh though and it was nice that he wanted to help. I think it’s one of those small moments that you end up remembering even if it slightly tested my patience at the time!
On the menu this week we have:
Monday - Gousto meal - Creamy Chicken, Leek & Carrot Pie. I think I am going to make some mashed potato to go with this because pie without mash just feels wrong.
Tuesday - Gousto meals - Chicken Satay Noodles. We loved this the last time we had it and it is so quick to make as the chicken is already cooked and the noodles only take a few minutes.
Wednesday - Gousto meal - One Pot Baked Pork Stroganoff Tortiglioni.
Thursday - Red onion and bacon tart with mini roast potatoes.
Friday - Fish fingers, chips and baked beans. A no fuss Friday tea that we all love!
Saturday - Gousto meal - Hot Honey Bacon & Fried Egg Pancakes.
Sunday - A Sunday lunch of some sort.
That’s our plan for the week! What about you? What are you eating this week?
Fish fingers, chips and baked beans! May I join you for tea please??
ReplyDeleteI, too, "struggle" when my husband offers to help me put groceries away! His system is very different from mine! However I love it when he helps bring the bags in from the car! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteOh I just had to laugh; my husband and I grocery shop together every week and he helps me put away groceries but he has remarked a few times about how the next day pretty much nothing is left where he put it since I end up moving it where I know it needs to go (for me, the cook, to find it later!). I also like to hide new jars/bags/boxes away so the old ones get eaten up first. It drives me nuts to have 2 open packages of the same thing because someone didn't see the old one. But I try so hard not to get annoyed when he's trying to help... even if I don't always think of it as help.
ReplyDeleteI want to come over Friday. :-)
ReplyDeleteMonday night, we are having chili and cornbread on the side.
Set another place at the table for Friday, please!
