Last weeks meal plan went well. The leftover roast dinner pie 2nd time around was even better than the first one I made. The extra leftovers were frozen, defrosted and then put in the pie with more gravy. I guess it added to the flavour. I have a roast dinner planned this week so I can get more leftovers!
The fry up yesterday was better than I had even planned. My fella went to Tesco to get me a bottle of wine and saw there was reduced things and got 2 packs of 4 black pudding for under £1 and got 16 sausages for under £1 too. Fab!
I was at my dad's on Thursday. I only popped in to see him and he roped me into helping out a little. I did my bit for the environment and helped plant some trees. When I had left the house that morning it was icy and cold by just after lunchtime it was lovely. I even had to take my coat of because I was so warm.
After living here for just over 4 months the views still impress me! A big difference from life in Ashington.
The kids went back to school this week after half term which seemed strange because so many other schools were having their half term this past week. We had a fab Halloween. The kids out trick or treating and Stu and I had fun answering the door to all the kids. Now for a photo every day!
297/365 - 26th October We put the gas fire on for the first time. Up until Saturday we haven't used it. The only time it was on was last month for the gas safety check. It is amazing! It warms the living room within 10 minutes which means we don't have to wait for the radiators to heat up to get warm after getting in from the cold. 298/365 - 27th October The kids carved their pumpkins. They had fantastic fun! 299/365 - 28th October Stu put the Halloween decorations up. Some of them we've had for years. Some bought and some made by the kids. 300/365 - 29th October I had a sort of the cupboard under the sink. It was such a chaotic mess beforehand. 301/365 - 30th October Leftover pastry means jam tarts! 302/365 - 21st October My zombie cheerleader and zombie prom queen. 303/365 - 1st November I look like such a plonker when I wear a hat but I don't care!! It kept me warm when it was cold and wet!
This past week has all been about Halloween. Some of last week too. The kids have been so excited and it was our first Halloween in the new house. We didn't really see any houses decorated or pumpkins until mid-week when I was walking to my dad's and saw the spooky house with a ghost and devil in the garden. When we went past yesterday the walls had pumpkins on too.
Ellie and her friends have been planning to go trick or treating for weeks. I bought the costumes a couple of weeks ago and Becky who isn't usually keen on dressing up was all gung-ho, I was sending her along to keep Ellie under control. lol
Over the weekend we carved the pumpkins and the kids had fantastic fun. We didn't go overboard doing any fancy designs, we kept things simple and I think they looked fab!
Last week we made some shortbread witch fingers which I blogged about and some bat cupcakes which featured in My Sunday Snapshot. Ellie came in yesterday and started getting ready. She was a zombie prom queen and Becky was a zombie cheerleader. They both even had a bit of face paint on. Becky really got into the spirit of things and had a white face and the fake blood. I was really surprised with her. I feel that she has lost all inhibitions since moving here. She doesn't care what people think about her which is a fantastic thing.
I bought the sweets. 40 mini bags of Haribo, 10 Malteasers and 12 little tubs of Smarties and was starting to think no one was going to knock but the kids kept coming and coming! The costumes were all fantastic and by 6.45 we had ran out of sweets and had to resort to chocolate biscuits. lol The kids had a fab time trick or treating and came home with a ton of sweets!! More than they've ever had before. Halloween was a huge success here!
