Our weekly meal plan! 17th - 23rd June! #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Last weeks meal plan went really well, we ate everything but did swap a couple of the days around. My family have always said they don't like sweet and sour sauce but will eat it in the chicken balls from Iceland and it turns out when they don't know it's sweet and sour sauce. lol We had sweet & sour pork meatballs with rice and I said it was just a stir fry sauce and they accepted it and ate every morsel. I then told them what they had eaten and they didn't believe me until I showed them the recipe. They have said they only like my sweet & sour sauce.

Our Gousto box was so late being delivered on Saturday, it didn't arrive until gone half past seven in the evening but we weren't going to miss out on the Sticky Honey Mustard Posh Dogs With Chips, I just followed the recipe card that we got last time we had them to make the honey mustard sauce, used some sausages out of the freezer and got Stu to get some buns on his way home. The Gousto sausages have gone into the freezer and I am sure my family will use the Ciabatta buns during the week.

I don't have much on this week apart from watching the football. I always say I am not a football fan but as soon as the Euro's or World Cup happens I am there, watching every match. I have said to the girls that we might go strawberry picking but that really depends on the weather. We're forecast more rain this week but I suppose it's good for the growing strawberries.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Stu's night to cook and he is making us a fry up! Bacon, hash browns, eggs, black pudding, mushrooms and baked beans.
Tuesday - Gousto meal - Thai-Style Coconut Chicken With Sweet Potato Fries. I think this week this is the meal I am most excited about. I love anything with coconut and hopefully this will be a meal that I make again and again.
Wednesday - Gousto meal - Sesame Pork & Mushroom Udon Noodle Stir-Fry.
Thursday - Gousto meal - Sausage & Pepper Chilli s Con Carne Pasta Bake.
Friday - Scampi, chips and peas.
Saturday - Gousto meal - Smoky Beef, Pineapple & Red Onion Tacos.
Sunday - Some sort of casserole cooked in the slow cooker.

What are you eating this week?

Week 24 of #Project365 9th - 15th June. A photo every day for a year!

I have spent this week looking forward to the weekend. The Euro's starting, a cinema trip for the girls, a Saturday evening with my family and of course Father's Day today! I hope you all have a wonderful time with your dad's, if you are a dad I hope you are spoilt rotten and sending love and hugs to those who no longer have their dad's with them. We will be going to see my dad today which I am really looking forward to.

I am sat here writing this yesterday morning, stressing about parcels. I ordered a gift for my dad which was supposed to arrive on Friday and it didn't arrive but I finally got a text saying it's arriving sometime over the next couple of hours! Phew and my Gousto box isn't set to arrive until 17:45 and 19:45. We were supposed to be eating one of the meals for tea! Oh well, I am sure if it gets too late I will find something else to make.

Now for a photo every day!

Old Mout and tomato plants
The sky
Bridgerton and flowers
Gel nails and trooping the colour

161/365 - 9th June
Old Mout Cider, this is Becky's favourite drink from the pub and she has realised she can buy it in cans. Her theory was that she can enjoy a couple sat in the garden when it is sunny. hahaha! We would need some sunshine for that.

162/365 - 10th June
My tomatoes are growing! Not as big as the one's my dad has but they're still doing well. I keep thinking they should be turning red but then remembering that they are not cherry tomatoes they are going to grow bigger before they turn red.

163/365 - 11th June
This is not June weather! Where is the sunshine and I am so over all of this rain! Sort yourself out weather I have lots of summer clothes to wear!

164/365 - 12th June
I finally started watching Bridgerton and I understand the hype now! It is such a great show. I am onto the 2nd season now and I think I am going to slow down with the speed I am watching as I read yesterday there will be no more new episodes until 2026!

165/365 - 13th June
These flowers did so well! When I took this photo they were two weeks old. They were nothing fancy, I ordered them with my grocery shop from Asda.

166/365 - 14th June
I have been using normal nail polish for a few months but found the time to use my gel nail set. I love the colour that I have on at the moment, it's almost red but almost orange too. When I had them under the lamp they did look neon orange which was a bit of a surprise.

167/365 - 15th June
I watched Trooping the Colour. I do love watching it, all the pomp and ceremony. It was lovely to see Princess Kate there too.

This week my Word of the Week is: Dad! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Dad

It has been one of those weeks where most of my week has revolved around my dad which of course I am not complaining about, I feel lucky that my dad is still here and is living his life to the fullest.

On Monday Stu and I went to my dad's, partly to see the new car that he has bought (I will get to that in a moment) and partly to see my brother for some advice about eBay! Stu sold a computer part and the buyer is being a pain! He started off saying the package arrived empty and after I took over messaging being not as polite as Stu. the buyer has backtracked and said it arrived fine but it was opened and stolen from inside his house. It sounds harsh but that is not our problem, he wants a refund and we are arguing that he is at fault. He received the item, it's not our fault it was stolen! I told him he needs to report it to the police as surely it is burglary and he said he's going to. Of course we are expecting eBay to side with the buyer but this time I will kick up such a fuss if they do as he has already said the seller, Stu is not at fault.

On Friday when girls and I went to see my dad and he was on with connecting a trailer to his truck to go and pick up a car that he had bought. It is an old Reliant Scimitar. It was literally just hi and bye. I felt like I missed out on time seeing him so Stu and I went on Monday for some time with dad.

Reliant Scimitar

We had a lovely afternoon with him, he was so proud to show off his new project. He says it needs quite a bit of work on it but apart from the seats missing and a few cosmetic things I can't see what! lol. He said it should be roadworthy by the end of the summer! He is so excited about it and that makes me so happy!

The weather wasn't great on Monday, there were a lot of showers so he said he would give us a lift home which was great until he couldn't find his car keys! He is always losing his keys, in the past we have had those keyring things that make a noise when you press one part but he lost that too. lol Anyway he has a work truck and gave us a lift home in that. I am not a fan of it. It is higher up than a normal car and it feels like you are looking down onto the road! Eek! It felt like riding in a rollercoaster but he loves his truck and uses it a lot for work.

I wrote a blog post all about my dad and why he is the best during the week. It made me realise that I don't have many recent photos of him! I have tons in photo albums of him as a child and when my brother and I were kids but I don't have many from over the last couple of years. I must get some!

I got a lecture from my dad when he has realised that I have bought him gifts for Father's Day! He didn't even realise it was Father's Day on Sunday until I said we weren't going to see him yesterday like we usually do and instead are going on Sunday. He doesn't like me wasting my money on him, I disagree, I am not wasting my money. He always say's there's nothing he needs so it's a waste but I have bought him things that he will want. hehehe Cheese, chutney and crackers and some fancy ginger biscuits! His favourite foods! Unbeknown to my dad we're taking him out for lunch! Our favourite cafe who does the home made type Sunday lunches is 5 minutes from him so we're going to make him come and eat with us, if he refuses I will get a meal plated up for him and they can deliver it. hehehe

The girls have got Stu some great gifts, this was the first year I have left it all up to them and they have done well although they have forgotten to get cards so far but that is a job for today, they say! Becky bought and had the gifts delivered a couple of weeks ago (she's little Miss organised) and Ellie left it until the last minute and got some things yesterday.

Over the next few weeks I will have to time it right when I phone my dad as the Euro's football tournament has started. He loves football so if I call during a match he won't be happy! During the World cup he would ring me during half time of a match and we would talk about what had been happening in it. I don't usually watch football but do when there is a big thing happening which is just as well.

How has your week been? I hope it has been a good one!

What I have loved this week! Week 24. #FridayFavourites

It's Friday again and this past week has flown over. It has been a good week despite the weather not being very June like. I've had my blanket back out, jumpers on, I did think about putting the heating on mid-week and don't even get me started about the rain! It has rained every day over the past week and looks like we're getting more over next week! Ugh!

Anyway, I am here today to share some of the things that I have loved this week and I am of course linking up with Erika and Andrea to share them.

What I have loved this week

Bon Jovi - Forever!
The new album, Forever from Bon Jovi was released last Friday and I have been listening to it a lot!! I love all of the songs, obviously some more than others but the whole album made me smile, it really is uplifting and the best music that they have released in years! Even my girls are humming along and tapping their feet to it.

Clothes from Shein!
My order from Shein was delivered on Saturday and I was so happy with what arrived! I wrote a blog post about some of my favourite items. Everything seemed to fit so well and I feel like I got some bargains. My family were happy with what they got too. Some Taylor Swift and Pride t-shirts for my eldest, some skirts and tops for my youngest and some shorts and t-shirts for my fella.

My dad's new/old car!

Reliant Scimitar

My dad has a thing for old cars and has bought himself a new one, a Reliant Scimitar. It needs work doing on it and it only has the drivers seat in it but it's something to keep him busy and I think it will be in the road by the end of the summer. It's from the 1960's and the bonus is when he gets it roadworthy he won't have to pay vehicle tax on it as it's so old.

Home alone!
I had a day home alone on Tuesday! It doesn't happen often, in fact I can't remember the last time it did happen. My fella and youngest were at work and college and Becky who is usually sleeping before or after a night shift had slept at her friends house so I had the whole house to myself! I didn't do anything exciting, I vacuumed upstairs and the stairs which I can't usually do when Becky is sleeping. That was the highlight of my day. lol It was nice not to have to tip-toe around making sure I didn't make too much noise.

Bridgerton!
I watched the last few episodes of Killing Eve that I thought I had seen but soon realised I hadn't, I wasn't happy with the ending. Hmmf! Anyway, I finished it and Bridgerton popped up on my screen. It has been on my to watch list for years but I never got around to it or understood the hype! I totally get it now! I am well and truly hooked! The costumes, music and romance of it all have got me! My favourites are Penelope & Eloise at the moment. I was doing well at avoiding spoilers until yesterday when the new episodes were released. I have seen someone in a wedding dress who was nowhere near getting married at the part I am watching!

Tomatoes are growing!

Tomatoes growing

My dad showed me his tomato plants while I was visiting him on Monday and I was very annoyed that his actually had tomatoes growing on them. He still has his in a greenhouse so they are thriving, mine are outside! Hmmf! Anyway, I came home and had a really close look at my plants and found I do have tomatoes growing, they were hiding around the back of the plants!! Hooray!

Blogger issues are fixed!
I have been struggling to insert links and resize images over the last few weeks! It has been so frustrating and I have had no motivation to write blog posts as it was such a faff but as of writing this everything seems to be working as it should. I know I have probably spoken to soon and it will probably stop working by the time this post goes live but it was actually fun to write this blog post without any fuss.

What have you loved this week?
