I hope you are all having a good week? It's Wednesday which means it's time to join in with the Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond! Each week there are 6 questions, we answer and then link up. Simple!
1. May 20th is World Bee Day...what's something that's kept you 'busy as a bee' lately?
Just life in general. I feel like I have had a lot going on in my real life lately and being sick last week means that I feel like I am playing one big catch up at the moment. It's just day to day things like the housework, life admin, oh and of course the laundry. That is a never ending job!
2. Do you like honey? What's something you make or enjoy that calls for honey?
I use honey quite a lot now, some of the Gousto meals that I get include it in the recipes. Our favourite meal is the Sticky Honey Mustard Posh Dogs With Chips!
Last week when I had a bout of tonsillitis I was eating honey by the spoonful to ease my throat. It really helped when nothing else was. I did try to get a doctors appointment as I felt that poorly, I never go to the doctors unless it's serious but they had no appointments until next week and I hoped I would feel better by then. I do, just!
3. "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." Proverbs 16:24. What's a proverb you love, or one that speaks to you or has helped you in some way?
Fall seven times, stand up eight! It is so simple but it speaks volumes about resilience. Life is full of setbacks but this reminds me to keep going when things are hard.
4. Tell us about a 'sweet' moment in your life recently that filled you with joy, gratitude, or peace.
Last week when I wasn't feeling great people helped me out when they didn't really have to. I was so grateful! Becky buying me lunch one day when she knew I was off my food but ordered take out. I couldn't not eat it when she had paid, my friend just checking in with me, online friends offering advice and support, my dad dropping off ice lollies to help my throat and the girls being extra helpful around the house.
5. When you were a child, what did you want to 'be' when you grew up? How close did you come to that?
As a child I loved horses and was lucky enough to live on a farm with plenty of horses and ponies. I went through phases of what I wanted to do. When my dad was buying and selling racehorses I wanted to be a jockey, my dad would compete at show jumping events and then I wanted to be a showjumper. As I got older my dreams changed and I wanted to be a groom looking after other peoples horses. I actually ended up getting a Saturday job at some stables near where we lived when I was about 13. When I was 15 I wanted to own my own riding school after doing work experience from school at one. I got a job at another riding stables when I was 16 and ended up wanting to own my own stables but it was not meant to be. My family sold the farm, we moved to the city and I lost touch with the horsey world so my dream was over.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Now that the flowers are starting to appear in my garden there are more bee's buzzing around and I do love them, just watching them makes me happy. They just do their own thing bothering no one. Wasps on the other hand are evil! A few years ago we had a wasps nest in the roof above our bathroom and now whenever I see a wasp I get flashbacks to my bathroom being filled with the pesky things!
What an interesting childhood that must have been. Do you still miss the horse world? I'm sorry you've been sick and am glad you're on the mend. How nice to have caring family around you too. There are usually just the two of us here now, but still so much laundry. Whyyy? My hubs works outside a lot so that's a change of clothes, and if we exercise that's another so I guess that's where it comes from but I feel like there should be less! Take care and have a good day!
ReplyDeleteOh my, the wasp story gives me the shivers! I completely (sort of!) agree about the bees buzzing around in the garden. I used to LOVE seeing them as they are necessary for pollination. Then one day last summer, I was in the garden minding my own beeswax (if you will) and I felt the sharpest sting ever! A bee had bitten me! I definitely had a mild to moderate reaction to it- over the course of the week, a large red swollen area appeared around the bite site. This summer, I know that I will think of that sting often! I'm glad you felt cared for by so many last week. Being "off" stinks but it does tend to bring out the tender care in others which is comforting.
ReplyDeleteGotta love bees when they're doing their thing! Sorry you weren't feeling well. Hope the honey helped!
