What I have loved this week! Week 22. #FridayFavourites

How is it Friday already? This past week flew over. My youngest has had the week off college, it was half term. The last break before her long summer break! Come to think of it the last year school year has flown over, it doesn't seem that long since she went back to college in September. Today I am linking up with Erika and Andrea to share some of the things that I have loved over the past week.

What I have loved this week

Planting plants.
The plants that I grew from seeds were getting too big for my little greenhouses and pots, despite me moving them into bigger pots so I planted them in the garden in the ground this time last week, not thinking about the weather we had to come. So far so good despite the rubbish weather we have had over the last week, wind and rain. If they can survive that they should do well, even the sunflowers are still standing.

A day out with my girls!
It's a rarity having both my girls available for a day out at the same time so I made sure to take advantage when they were both free to have a trip to town. They had Father's Day gifts to buy and did well and got some fab bits, they both needed odds and ends and I needed to drop some paperwork off for something. It was a successful day out even if we did have to buy a couple of umbrellas when it started chucking it down, we were expecting lighter rain not the downfall we had.

Progress with the bed!
I mentioned last week about my brother coming up with a good idea to shorten Ellie's bed so it will fit the other way in her bedroom and free up some space. The metal frame is a good foot longer than the mattress so in theory it will work. We took the measurements again and again just to check, the bed was dismantled and taken away mid-week for my brother to work his magic, Ellie has deep cleaned her room and now we wait! Hopefully it will be returned sometime over the weekend.

A rainbow!

Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story!
Off Netflix. Recently discovered police recordings and first-person accounts tell the story of Fred and Rose West, two of the UK's most prolific murderers. I was a teenager when the news was filled with the horrors about what Fred and Rose West did and have obviously heard a lot about it since. This documentary was so interesting but awful at the same time, those poor girls.

Appropriate Adult!
Of course when I watched the documentary this this two part miniseries was suggested to me by Netflix. Based on actual events it tells the story of Gloucester housewife Janet Leach who played an important role in uncovering the crimes of Fred and Rosemary West as an appropriate adult, a volunteer who sits in on police interviews with vulnerable adults to help safeguard their rights. The drama centres on the time between Fred West's arrest, his 1995 suicide and the conviction of Rosemary West.

The end of the football season!
It all came down to the last match of the season to see if our team would be playing in the UEFA Champions League next season. Ideally they had to win their match but they went the hard way around. They lost their match so it all depended on the score in another match. I am not usually a fan of Manchester United but I was so happy when they won, it meant we came 5th in the league and we're on our way to Europe.

  1. So fun that you had a day with your girls! We’re getting lots of rain right now, so the plants and flowers we planted a bit ago are getting a good drink of water. I’m sure it will be unbearably hot soon. Haha I hope you have a great weekend.

  2. It sounds like a good week! How fun to get to spend time with both of your girls even though a downpour occurred :). I hope Ellie's bed shortening works out... at a minimum, it got her to clean her room so there's that, lol. I hope you have a great weekend!

  5. Sounds like a good week. Hope the bed shortening works. I should imagine watching the Fred and Rose West story was quite harrowing. I've started watching the series about the plane bombing that came down in Lockerbie. I can remember watching about the plane coming down but I didn't remember how badly it affected the village.

  6. I had never heard of an appropriate adult before...is that just a European thing?

I haven't seen a rainbow in several years. It's sunny with dark clouds today; maybe, just maybe???
