Our weekly meal plan! 3rd - 9th October. #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Last weeks meal plan was mostly a success. The Slow-cooker Mexican corn chowder did not go down well. Ellie said she has vomited better looking food and Becky ate a little but we all ended up leaving quite a bit of it which is a shame as I hate food waste. The Sage and onion pork meatballs I made on Monday were a hit though. They were so filling and tasted and smelled so good. I will be making them again.

Over the past few days I have bought quite a few of the girls Christmas presents and ended up treating myself to a hand blender, what have I become. lol Years ago a treat would be a new outfit or pair of shoes now it's stuff for the kitchen. I have needed one and I mostly bought it just so I can make soup more easily. I had been using the bigger blender that we use to make smoothies but it is such a faff. I will be trying it out during the week when we have our favourite soup.

I had a little miracle happen on Friday. I got my online food shop as normal and there were no substitutions. It is the first time in a long time that that's happened. I even bought some random things that I wouldn't normally and they arrived. It's little things like that make me happy.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Meat free mince sloppy joes with potato salad.
Tuesday - Fried egg, chips and baked beans. So simple but so good.
Thursday - Sausage and tomato pasta.
Friday - Pizza.
Saturday - We're out for the day so something either when we're out or something like toasties when we get in.
Sunday - A roast dinner of some sort.

What are you eating this week?

The best TV shows to watch in October. #Blogtober22

I am taking part in Blogtober 2022 and will be writing posts with various themes/prompts throughout October. Today's prompt is: Best books to read in October but as I am not a big reader I am going to go with the best TV shows to watch in October.

TV remote

I love what's on TV at this time of year. There is of course home comforts like Great British Bake Off and Strictly. The soaps always have a big week of episodes in October and there is all the returning TV shows coming. Now seems the right time to watch quite a few shows which new seasons coming over the next few months.

The Walking Dead.

If you have been putting off watching the Walking Dead watch it now! The new and last season starts tonight in America. I only started watching it when the 3rd series was running and I've been hooked every since. I rewatched it a few months ago just so I was all up to date for the new series!

The hit series follows a group of survivors struggling to survive after a zombie apocalypse. As the world overrun by the dead takes its toll, their interpersonal conflicts present a greater danger to their survival than the walkers that roam the country.

The Crown!

Netflix has revealed the premiere date for the new season of The Crown. November the 9th! So if you haven't seen it, now is a great time to catch up.

Based on historical events, this series dramatizes the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that have shaped her reign. It really is a fantastic show. I saw that there was a warning put out on Twitter reminding people that it is a drama show not a documentary. lol Season 5 sees another set of cast changes as the focus shifts onto arguably the most turbulent decade of the Queen's long reign, the 1990s.

Emily in Paris.

The third season of Emily in Paris Coming to Netflix on  December 21st so now is a great time to catch up with the previous seasons. I love it. It's so easy to watch with around ten 30 minute episodes per season. It's funny and is pretty light hearted.

Emily in Paris follows Emily Cooper, a college graduate American with a Master's degree in marketing in her late twenties from Chicago, who moves to Paris for an unexpected job opportunity. She is tasked with bringing an American point of view to a venerable French marketing firm. Cultures clash as she adjusts to the challenges of life in Paris while juggling her career, new friendships, and active love life.

Grey's Anatomy season 19.

Grey's Anatomy will be returning for its 19th season this month in America which means it will be coming soon here in the UK too. I can't wait. I only started watching a couple of years ago and have rewatched it since. It is brilliant! I have laughed and cried along with it. I've gone from hating some characters then loving them as their story progressed.

Grey's Anatomy is medical based drama centred around Meredith Grey, an aspiring surgeon and daughter of one of the best surgeons, Dr. Ellis Grey. Throughout the series, Meredith goes through professional and personal challenges along with fellow surgeons at Seattle Grace Hospital.

Hocus Pocus 2.
Hocus Pocus 2 is available now to watch now on Disney Plus. I have been looking forward to watching this so much and as I was writing this blog post last week I probably have already seen it. hehehe

In 2022, twenty-nine years after the events of the first film, three high-school students must work together to stop the Sanderson sisters who have returned to present-day Salem looking for revenge.

What are you looking forward to watching on TV over the next few months?

Week 39 of #Project365 24th - 30th September. A photo every day for a year!

These weeks seem to be going in such a blur. Knowing that it's October today and there are a lot of postal strikes coming I have cracked on with the Christmas present buying. I started to have a little panic partly about the presents getting here and partly because Ellie is so hard to buy for. I have got her main present, a phone and a few things off her Amazon wish list and surprisingly a few things from Smyths.

Hasn't it got cold over the past week. The extra duvets are back on the beds, I'm wrapping up well but the same can't be said for my family. They were walking around with no socks on and thin pj's with t-shirts the other night complaining they were cold and they wanted the heating on. Nope, no way! Not until they dress appropriately for the weather. lol

Now for a photo every day!

Pizza and pumpkin
Meatballs and a conker
Sunflower and a toy catalogue
Foggy outside

267/365 - 24th September
Home made pizzas for tea. We made little one's and everyone wanted different toppings on the two they were having. What a chore that was. In future they either make them themselves or they get one bigger one each.

268/365 - 25th September
My pumpkin is doing well. When I planted it earlier this year I didn't believe that it would be ready for October, coming from a seed but it's getting there. I don't think it's quite ready but I am keeping a close eye on it.

269/365 - 26th September
The Sage and onion pork meatballs were good, they were more filling than I thought they would be but they tasted and smelled amazing. They were a hit with the whole family and I will be making them again.

270/365 - 27th September
Ellie found her first conker of the season and then went out looking for more. She came home with pockets full! I found her some more when I was out and about on Thursday.

271/365 - 28th September
My big sunflowers are dying off but the little one's are still going strong!

272/365 - 29th September
The Smyths catalogue arrived. I miss buying toys for my girls but there's still quite a few things out of it that they want including some reasonably priced Funko Pops.

273/365 - 30th September
Yesterday was a grey and damp day starting off very foggy. It didn't really get any brighter.

10 things you don't know about me! #Blogtober22

I am taking part in Blogtober 2022 and will be writing posts with various themes/prompts throughout October. Today's prompt is: 10 things you don't know about me!

Me with pink hair

Happy 1st of October and 1st day of Blogtober. Today's prompt is 10 things you don't know about me which I had to think long and hard about. I have been blogging for almost 10 years so I feel regular readers will know most things about me. There is also my About Us page where you can get an idea of who I am and who my family is. I need to update it again as the girls are a year older now. lol I think over these almost 10 years of blogging I have told all my secrets so for my 10 things I will have to come up with some really random things.

1. I have lived in 13 different homes. Mostly all in the North East of England including Stockton, Thornaby, Redcar, Durham, Spennymoor and Ashington. I think we are in our forever home now living near Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire.

2. I am obsessed with mint humbugs at the moment and probably eat far too many.

3. I am so bad at texting people back. I read the message, end up doing something else and then forget all about it.

4. I only own 3 pairs of footwear. Smart black boots, a pair of trainers and some welly boots.

5. My natural hair colour is dark brown with plenty of grey hairs coming through not that you see it though. I dye my hair and have been all different colours over the last few years. I first dyed it bright red in 2019 and I haven't looked back. I've been pink, red, blue, green which was a mess up, purple and a mix of all those colours. At the moment my hair is blue but by the end of the month it might have changed, who knows.

6. I am watching Orange Is the New Black for the first time and I am loving it. Crazy Eyes and Red are my favourite characters but I am warming to Pennsatucky now.

7. I swear far too much. Never on my blog or in front of my dad though.

8. I hate paying for anything with my bank card. I get flustered and never know where to scan it. I will only use my bank card when I really. really have to.

9. My full name is not Kimberly, it's just Kim. My parents thought they were clever just giving my brother and I names with 3 letters in thinking nobody can shorten them, the problem we have is people try to lengthen my brothers and my name.

10. I only know popular music, in the charts if it is played on TikTok. I never listen to the radio anymore unless it's old music from the 80's and 90's. I feel old.

What is one thing that I don't know about you?
