Our weekly meal plan! 1st - 7th September! #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

It always makes me a little bit happy when a new month starts on a Monday, it just feels neat and tidy. Here we are in September! This year is going far too quickly. It was only five minutes ago that we were talking about Easter eggs and now suddenly the kids are going back to school and the nights are starting to creep in earlier!

It's back to college this week for Ellie and she is looking forward to it, this year she's doing mechanical engineering which is a change from last years electrical engineering. Ellie had a fantastic birthday weekend, I will write a blog post all about it soon. She got everything she wanted and then some, we had a lovely meal out, fun at the pubs karaoke, she had a night out with friends and even more presents. The house is still all upside down and all of her new things need to be put away, that is a job for today.

It feels like this week we will start to get back into a routine, life is more structured when Ellie is at college and it feels like summer is now over. Looking back we had a good summer, we didn't do much but at the same time our days have felt full and we made a lot of good memories.

Last weeks meal plan went well, the Sticky Sweet & Sour Pork Meatball Tray Bake was our favourite from the week. This week we haven't got a Gousto. Normally I love ordering one because it saves me having to think too much about what we're going to eat but when I looked this time there just weren’t enough meals that jumped out at us. That doesn’t happen very often and it’s not a bad thing as it gives us a chance to have some family favourites.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - I am not sure yet. I have enough to do today without needing to cook. It will be a help ourselves evening. Sandwiches, toasties, beans on toast or whatever people fancy.
Tuesday - Sausage casserole, mashed potato and veg. Perfect autumn food even if autumn isn’t officially here yet.
Wednesday - Chicken stir fry with Udon noodles.
Thursday - Spaghetti Bolognese with garlic bread.
Friday - Fish, chips and mushy peas.
SaturdayMeat free sloppy Joes with potato salad. We had this from Gousto ages ago and love it.
Sunday - A roast dinner of some sort.

What's on your menu this week?

  1. I haven't eaten meat in years, but I did used to love my mum's Spaghetti Bolognese. A school friend wrote to me not long ago on Facebook and said she had fond memories of eating "spag bol" at our house too. Hope you enjoy yours!

  2. We haven't had a roast dinner in ages. Star loves her roast dinners so much so sometimes I make a mini one just for her. The other day she went to the carvery with her boyfriend. It's only up the road, problem solved, lol. I think sausage casserole sounds good. I often have days when I just can't cook, it's usually after I've done my treatment, so we have a take out or the kids just sort themselves out. Daughter 1 doesn't miss me out.

  3. I am a little shocked that it's September already! Your meal plan sounds good... my son requested sloppy joes this week. I have never made sloppy joes before so I will have to look for a recipe! Have a great Monday!

  4. September is a good reset month, the heat is calming, and so is the busyness. Have a great week ahead!

  8. I'd love to have an "I don't need to cook day" and be close enough to swing by M&S for some picky bits!

  9. Hello Kim,
Your menu sounds so good! You need to share your sausage casserole recipe! I would love to know. That sounds good. We did grilled hamburgers and sausages today along with potatoes. I am doing leftovers tomorrow because we are leaving Wednesday morning to go on vacation for 10 days. So, limited cooking for me. But when we get back I can't wait to add some fall/autumn meals to the plan.
