Our weekly meal plan! 29th September - 5th October! #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Last weeks meal plan went really well. Monday set the bar high with Stu doing the cooking, even the simplest meal feels like a feast when you don’t have to make it yourself. We had steak pies, mashed potato and baked beans. Nothing fancy but it was delicious. I swear food just magically tastes better when someone else does the hard work. We stuck to the plan for most of the week apart from Friday. The idea was fish, chips and mushy peas but by the time Friday night rolled around the kitchen was the last place I wanted to be. We ended up getting a takeaway from the chip shop instead, spam fritters, chips, and beans. After my trip to Birmingham on Thursday I was still shattered so the takeaway was very much welcomed!

Can you believe it’s October this week? Where has this year gone? It feels like September just started and now here we are already talking pumpkins and hot chocolate. I don’t have too much planned this week but I do want to try some baking. I’ve been watching far too many cosy autumn videos on TikTok and now I’ve convinced myself I need to make cinnamon buns. Whether they’ll turn out looking like the ones I've seen online or end up more of a disaster is yet to be seen but I’ll give them a go.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Gousto meal - Crispy Chicken Katsu Curry Burritos.
Tuesday - Gousto meal - Sausage Meatball & Tomato Sauce With Fresh Orecchiette.
Wednesday - Gousto meal - Creamy Pork, Apple & Mustard Casserole.
Thursday - Tomato soup with cheese toasties to dip in. Just out of a tin but an easy meal.
Friday - Fishcakes, chips and peas.
Saturday - Home made pizza.
Sunday - A Sunday lunch of some sort.

What about you? What’s on your menu this week?

  1. Your meal plan sounds good! I have meatloaf planned for tonight and maybe a roast at some point for another meal? I'm not entirely sure and am glad I have tonight's meal planned :). Have a great Monday!

  2. I agree with you on two counts... for me, food ALWAYS seems to taste better when someone else makes it AND I can't believe how quickly September has gone by! Slow down Fall! Wishing you a great week, Kim!

  3. Scouting out the best fish and chips spots in London - I hope they live up to the hype. We have one place near us that does (almost) proper British fish and chips, but I think I got a bad piece of fish on our last visit and was so ill. Don't know if we'll go there again.

  5. YUM... my husband and I love a good tomato soup and cheese sandwich on the side. :-)
We are having meatballs tonight, with spaghetti squash, green beans and garlic bread.

  6. Oh dear, I am so not a meal planner, not for a whole week! I spent most of the day in the kitchen, made two apple pies and two chicken pot pies. Why I made so much when we only have two kids still living at home is beyond me, but old habits die hard. I won't feel like doing any cooking tomorrow, hopefully there will be leftovers! I totally agree that things taste better when someone else makes them! My husband cooks for me when we go camping, and it's so nice!

  7. So around here, I plan on meat that must be grilled outside, that is how i don't cook the whole meal myself....because I don't usually operate the grill. I especially like this on the busy garden work days.

  8. Every week I say I'm not a meal planner, but I'm not! LOL Yours always sound good! We don't have Gousto here in the States, but I have tried a couple of the meal plans that are available. I do just as well with frozen meals at our grocery store and something is always in my freezer. Thanks for sharing the yummies with us!
