This week my Word of the Week is: Disrupted!! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Disrupted

Last week my Word of the Week was Sunshiny but this week has been the opposite! The sun has shined a little but it has been quite chilly too. It has really messed with me getting the washing out on the line to dry. When it looks like rain and I choose not to hang it out and it stays dry and then when I do put it out, it gets really grey and looks like it will rain.

Our week has been a good one but there have been a few disruptions. Not big ones in the grand scheme of things but enough to put a few spanners in the works. Plans have changed and we have just had to roll with it.

The event we were going to on Sunday was cancelled because of the rain. It was fine. We had already decided we were going out somewhere no matter the weather and we went out for lunch. It has been decided next time we will book so we don't have to rush as much. There will be a next time as the food was so good.

Ellie is working hard at college, she has just over a month left until her school year ends and she leaves college. It doesn't seem that long since she started. Eek! I was expecting her home early one day but changed her plans and decided to stay back and do some extra work. As things stand, she has already passed her course based on the coursework she’s done so far, which is amazing but she’s not stopping there. She’s pushing herself to do even better, which makes me so proud. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for her at college. There have been challenges along the way but she’s just kept going. She really is a little trooper.

I was sat here minding my own business mid-week and the Sky TV box randomly went off. I pressed the remote to turn it back on and it wasn't working. I don't know how or why but I switched it off and back on at the plug and the Sky TV box came back on but the remote had somehow unlinked itself. I got it working thanks to the help of Google but I have no idea why it did what it did. Hmmf.

There have been disruptions on the roads here. For what seems like months, they've been working on a road nearby. I think putting new gas pipes in and during the week something went wrong as people passing said there was a strong smell of gas. Then came the notice online that the road would be closed for a week and diversions would be in place. It's the main road into town, so everyone is going to be disrupted. Becky had plans during the week and had to change them just to make sure she got into town on time with the bus going another route and I hope the college bus drivers have got the memo about the diversion in place.

Becky's plans were also disrupted yesterday. She was supposed to be going to her Grandad's but the buses weren't running as one had set on fire and they closed the road! Eek! Thankfully, everyone got off the bus and there were no injuries but it did sound scary. You can guarantee if something is going to happen on the roads, it always happens near the Humber Bridge which stops traffic and there is no way to get over the river unless you drive right around and it is quite a long way. The buses would rather just stop than take that trip.

How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one! I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay to join in with her Word of the Week linky!

  1. I hope you have less disruptions this weekend and next week. That is awesome about Ellie- about persevering and continuing on with her coursework. You must be so proud of her! How nice (though annoying to have to do it...) that you figured out your TV remote. I hope your weekend is a good one!

  2. The bus on fire is scary, I am glad nobody was injured. Ellie is doing so well for studying more, this will help her when she needs to work. It's fantastic she is seeing this. I hope next week goes to plan.

  6. That's a lot of disruptions! I'm learning to pivot and think outside the box when plans change. Sometimes I'll even give myself a pep talk in front of the bathroom mirror when something has been disrupted, and it helps–haha. So good to hear that Ellie is doing so well at college, good on her!

  7. It sounds like you were playing washing line hokey cokey!
Well done to Ellie for workign so hard, I can't believe she's almost finished that has gone so quickly.
How awful about the bus, thank goodness nobody was hurt.

  8. Such a bummer to have so many disruptions, but it sounds like you're rolling with it! And can you believe that it's been chilly this week here in Georgia, too?? It's SO unusual for it to be like this in mid-May. Normally we've been in the 90s every day for several weeks by now.

  9. That was a lot of disruption. Our Virgin box just decided to stop working last week. Thankfully the engineer came the following day and we got a new box so up and running again. Hope this week is running more smoothly for all of you.

  10. Technology is just plain weird, it seems to do what it wants. The bus fire sounds a little scary, glad everyone was ok. #wotw
