Sunday again! This past week has flown over. I don't know if it's because we had a Bank Holiday at the start of the week, it has been the half term break or we're at the end of May. Whatever it is I feel like I need a refund on this week as it has just gone in a blur. It has been a great week. I have done a lot of pottering around the house, had a day out with the girls and sorted the problem of Ellie's tiny bedroom! A productive week all round! Even yesterday was a busy day sorting out upstairs after having everything upside down with sorting Ellie's room. Once everything was tidied I even hoovered the stairs which usually isn't a Saturday job as Becky is usually sleeping after or before her night shift but she is out.
Today is going to be all about relaxing, well for me it is. The girls have plans so Stu and I are free to do whatever we want. I think we might have a lunch out. This month we have cut down on the amount of times that we eaten out, we ate out at the start of the month and that is it. We got to a point where we seemed to be eating out every week that it didn't feel special anymore.
Now for a photo every day!
145/365 - 25th May.
We've had plenty of rain this week which means there have of course been rainbows in the sky! The rain has been silly! Like yesterday we left the house and it was raining by the time we had got 5 minutes down the road it has stopped and the sun had came out. I took my coat off as I was too warm. Five minutes after that it was raining again. lol
146/365 - 26th May.
I was about to pull this out thinking it was a weed but I thought to check on my Plant Identifier app and it turns out it is a sunflower. I did plant some wildflower seeds but didn't think sunflowers were included.
147/365 - 27th May.
It was nice to get on the bus on the way home just to have a sit down and get out of the rain. Usually we would stop for a sit on a bench while walking around town but because of the rain there was nowhere to sit. Hmmf.
148/365 - 28th May.
I tidied up the corner of the living room that was a dumping ground for all things random. I love my shelves filled with random things like Lego but it is so hard to do the dusting, I always fear that I am going to drop the models. It looks so much better now.
149/365 - 29th May.
Ellie's bed was taken away to be shortened so she was sleeping on the mattresses on the floor. We're shortening the bed so it would fit across her room instead of down the long wall. Before anyone says we should just buy her a new bed have your tried to find one under 6ft long. It would have meant paying a silly amount for a custom built bed.
150/365 - 30th May.
Why pay for a custom built bed when my dad and brother are good at finding a solution for things like this. They chopped it down to size, rebuilt it and it was even more sturdy than it was before. The also took some of the height off so it would fit better under her window but still leave room to put the drawers back under the bed.
151/365 - 31st May.
The bed it up and it fits!! Phew! There is now a big space behind Ellie's door where there will be a dressing table going. Her clothes rail is going to go onto her wall and Stu doesn't need to move the TV. Just after I took this photo we realised the TV would twist round on it's bracket attached to the wall. She just moved her mountain of pillows to the other end of the bed and that has saved Stu a job of moving the TV.
May flew by so quickly didn't it, I can't believe it's the half way point of the year already!
ReplyDeleteA bonus sunflower growing is such a bonus, I haven't touched any weeds this year yet because I had wildflower seeds growing so I'm not sure which is which at this point.
Your Dad and brother are so handy, it's great to hear Ellie's room has come together nicely I hope she enjoys it.
Glad you managed to get the bed fitted in the room, sound quite a fluff though, but worth it in the end and good idea just to sleep the other end rather than relocate the TV. I've had sunflowers in my wild seed packs this year also.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there was quite a bit of rain down in Cornwall and on the journey back, there's still been very little at home. The fields and my plants do need a bit more, but we've just had grey before the sun's come out again. Nice one on them fixing the bed. So handy when you've got someone at home who can/does jobs like that. I've been using my plantsnap app a lot this week too. I've got a lot of random plants that have popped up that I'm not sure are weeds. Including a lot which have grown in a corner where I did sprinkle some random seeds, and there aren't usually more than a few dandelions. So fingers crossed they're actually flowers.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe we are heading into a new month already! May was a blur.
ReplyDeleteYour Dad and Bro have skills! I bet that has saved you a small fortune. I imagine custom beds are really expensive. It looks so cosy.
I love your display corner. You have got a nice set of Funko Pops there! xx
Yah for the newly built bed fitting nicely into the space! Love that you discovered a flower instead of a weed! That has happened to me a few times where I almost pulled something thinking it was a weed but it wasn't. Plant identifier apps are the best!
ReplyDeleteHow lucky to see a rainbow! Don't think I've spotted any this year so far.
ReplyDeleteGreat to have people in the family who are good at practical things. Deconstructing the bed and re-building it is a great skill (my dear husband wouldn't even know where to start).
Glad you realised it was a sunflower just in time.
Love your Funko Pops display. Ours are all out of boxes, and are a pain to dust, as is anything Lego. :)
What a beautiful rainbow! I am so glad Ellie's bed fits so nicely into the space you had planned.
ReplyDeleteI'm not mechanical at all. It's great your men handled cutting down the bed. Comes in handy. #MMBC
ReplyDeleteYou always find such fun and varied photos to include. I love looking at the photos first and wondering what each refers to before reading your description. Always a fun read, Kim!
ReplyDeleteThe rain showers have been driving me mad as week. I feel like I am forever putting on or taking off my coat. I didn't know you could get an app that could identify plants, I will have to have a look as I have plants growing on my garden and I don't know if they are wild flowers or weeds. You are so lucky to have family members that were able to help with the bed situation and everyone is happy with the outcome.
