Our weekly meal plan! 8th - 14th September! #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

I hope you had a good weekend. Ours was a good one, busy but fun. It started with the girls having a night away at an Emo music event and spending the night in a hotel. They had a fantastic time. Stu and I went wild and by wild I mean we went for a meal out and actually stayed out almost past our bedtime. We got the last bus home from town, it's years since I have done that, it was fun and felt like I was 20 again. By the time I climbed into bed I was beyond ready for sleep. Saturday was less exciting, all about catching up on housework and getting some blog work done and Sunday was a sofa day. I watched some of The Great North Run and some films, ate snacks and generally didn't move far.

Last weeks meal plan was a bit hit and miss. Mostly miss as we only ate three of the meals that I had planned. Nothing went to waste so there was no great loss. Over the weekend, I did a big Iceland food shop because the freezer was looking a bit bare. I didn’t bother with a Gousto box this week because I wanted to use what I’d already stocked up on and some of the Iceland bits looked too good to resist.

This week is a special one because it’s my eldest’s birthday! Becky already knows what she wants to eat, she’s very organised like that. she has loads planned and I’m just looking forward to being part of it and seeing her enjoy herself.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - A Roast chicken dinner. We didn’t have a roast yesterday and Ellie wasn’t impressed so today we’re making it happen. Roast chicken, crispy roast potatoes, mashed potato, roast parsnips, carrots, peas and of course Yorkshire puddings.
Tuesday - Leftover roast dinner pie! This is one of my favourite make it up as you go along meals and such a good way to use leftovers.
Wednesday - Becky's birthday meal!
Thursday - Salmon, broccoli & pea risotto. It's a meal in the bag and great for a quick dinner.
Friday - Pizza.
Saturday - Home made Chinese takeaway. Sweet and sour chicken balls, egg fried rice, spring rolls, salt and pepper fries and chow mein.
Sunday - Sausages, mash and veg.

What about you, what’s on your menu this week?

  1. Another birthday to celebrate- how fun! Speaking of fun, your weekend sounds fun with a night out :). Regarding food/meals, I was good about using items up from the freezer rather than going to the store and buying things (which isn't a huge accomplishment but makes me feel proud, nonetheless!!) Your meals for the week sound good. So far, I only have meatloaf planned. Gotta get my dinner thinking cap on... Have a great Monday!

  3. Roast chicken is a favorite in our house as well. In fact, we love anything chicken. Today for us is burgers, and I am still trying to figure out the rest of the week. Have an amazing day!

  4. I followed the link for Leftover Roast Dinner Pie, and I will be doing that for us from time to time! I am assuming the jam tarts are just the crust baked and then filled with jam? #MMBC

  6. As I always say, I don't plan meals for just me. I did buy some fried chicken (legs and thighs) while at Publix (our market) today. I had some for lunch, and there is enough for two more meals. I've been craving fried chicken for some reason, and it is satisfied now!! Happy birthday this week to your Becky!! I look forward to some photos of her celebration!! xo
