Our weekly meal plan! 8th - 14th November. #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Last weeks meal plan went pretty well. The creamy chicken and mushroom one pan casserole was the biggest hit of the week. It was something different than just a casserole in gravy. We skipped the fish finger tacos and ended up just having fish finger sandwiches as Ellie was out with friends and Becky was asleep preparing for a night shift at work.

Stu and I are going Christmas shopping today, I think we're going to Hull just so we can go to the big B&M store. I might have to have a visit to Lush, Greggs for a Festive Bake and Costa for one of their Christmas drinks. It's going to be a rush to get back for Ellie from school but we should be OK as long as the buses are running on time.

Apart from shopping we don't have much on. Ellie has a pretty big week as she is getting her Covid vaccine at school. I will be keeping a close eye on her afterwards as I am very anxious about her having it. I am sure she'll be fine.

This week is operation empty the freezer for Christmas as I am planning to get an Iceland shop over the weekend with the turkey and meat for Christmas and some party food. From what I have read Iceland release their full Christmas range today.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Some sort of casserole with mashed potato. I have mixed veg and some beef in the freezer.
Tuesday - Pork and apple sausages with potato wedges.
Wednesday - BBQ chicken pieces, rice and spring rolls
Thursday - Burgers in buns with fries and corn on the cob.
Friday - Pizza.
Saturday - Curry, rice, naan bread, poppadoms and mango chutney.
Sunday - Roast pork, mash and veg.

What are you eating this week?

Winter berries. #MySundaySnapshot

It feels like all I have done on social media for the last week is complain about the cold. It really is cold though. I am sick of it already and it's only going to get colder over the next few months. Winter is coming.

I can see how much the weather has changed by the hedge on the way to my dads house. It is a good indicator of the change in seasons. It only seems a few weeks ago that it was overgrown with lush green grass and weeds now it is looking pretty bare even with the leaves that are left. What does stand out are the berries.

Week 44 of #Project365. 30th October - 5th November. A photo every day for a year!

I have been in a right grump this past week for no real reason apart from it has been cold. It has been a good week though. I got bargains from the local auction, some fence panels and our new fence is slowly being put up.

I have been doing more Christmas shopping but Becky has put me to shame and has nearly finished hers. She got 8 parcels delivered yesterday and had me getting selection boxes with the food shop. I am not panic buying selection boxes, she does actually need 10. lol

Now for a photo every day!

Christmas decorations
Carved pumpkins
Fence panels and my fella
The first fence panel up
My eldest at the cafe and a Friends Hot chocolate gift set

296/365 - 30th October
I got myself some bargains from the local auction. 2 packs of baubles for £2, a Christmas flowery thing for £2, three tree ornaments for £5 and a wreath for £5. I am so happy with what I got and I will probably be back at the auction today buying more Christmassy things. hehehe

297/365 - 31st October
Halloween and we of course carved some pumpkins.

298/365 - 1st November
We got a ton of fence panels from the man up the road for £20. He got a new fence and was getting rid.

299/365 - 2nd November
I have seen a lot of Stu my fella this week. He works outside and as the weather hasn't been great he has had a couple of days off. He has made his hours up though so we're no worse off, phew!

300/365 - 3rd November
The first fence panel was put up. It still needs painting on our side but I think it looks so much better. It gives both us and our neighbour more privacy and it is so much better than the old fence.

301/365 - 4th November
We went out for lunch yesterday with my dad. We ended up at the cafe near us and we had a look around the auction.

302/365 - 5th November
They will whack Friends packaging on anything and people will still buy it. I did for my eldest. lol. It's a hot chocolate set and I was pretty surprised that it was all different flavours. I got it from Tesco for about £6.

This week my Word of the Week is: Cold! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Cold

I could have also used the words wet, dark and grey this week too. The weather certainly has changed and it has put me into a right grump. I wouldn't normally say I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder but I am starting to think I have a touch of it as I haven't been in the best of moods this week and I have had no motivation for anything. I am sure I will be fine as I have a busy few weeks coming up to take my mind of the cold and get me out of my foul mood.

On Saturday we had fun at our local auction. We arrived just as it started to rain and would have stayed dry if we didn't feel the need to go to the cafe for a sandwich and a cup of tea. I ended up running through a puddle and soaking my feet which left me feeling cold for the rest of the day. It didn't really bother me until I got home as I was having fun buying some Christmas decorations and ornaments.

The clocks changing really messed with our heads and it has made us all feel tired earlier than we should. When it gets dark we are thinking it's about 7pm and it's actually only 5pm and we have had the heating on a few times this week and it has been lovely especially when we've been out in the cold during the day.

We got some fence panels from a man up the road who was going to sell them elsewhere. We paid £20 so we got ourselves a bargain. A while ago we were quoted over £2000 to get a new fence put up so £20 is a lot cheaper. Our fence is awkward. It was custom built so the concrete posts are not all the same distance apart and none of them are normal fence panel sizes. Grr.

I ended up stood out the front holding the fence panels on the trailer while my dad and Stu carried them into our garden. It was windy so we didn't want them blowing away and it was rather comical seeing my dad and Stu carrying them, they nearly got blew away a few times. They have started work putting our new fence up during the week and so far it's looking great. We had a chat with our neighbour and she loves it. It's a good couple of feet higher than our old fence so gives us all some privacy. Cold has stopped work a few times. It was bitter out there on Wednesday and they keep coming inside to get warmed up. Bless them.

There is a firework display locally tonight and I don't know if we're going to bother going, the cold is putting me off and to be honest it's pretty annoying what they organisers have done. £5 per person, £3 per child entry if you walk in or £10 for as many people as you can fit in a car. No wonder they are encouraging people to walk. It really is not fair for those who don't drive. Ellie is on about going with a few of her friends. They are not bothered about the bonfire of the fireworks, they just want to go on the fairground rides.

I am sitting here under my blanket with a hot water bottle after being out for most of the day running errands and I am just starting to warm up although my ears are aching. I really should have worn my woolly hat.

How has your week been?
