Our weekly meal plan! 8th - 14th April. #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Last week we had a great week of food, of course the meal plan went well as there wasn't much of a plan as were were eating out a few times. We went to our local pub for a meal, the all you can eat place in Hull and then yesterday we had Sunday lunch out at our favourite cafe. We had of course ate a lot of chocolate over the past week from Easter and sausage rolls and doughnuts from Greggs. I do love treat weeks like this but it is going to be good to get back to normal and eat some proper meals.

This week is going to be a normal one, mostly with a bit of routine. Stu is back at work tomorrow but Ellie still has another week off from college. I almost forgot that she had 2 weeks off for Easter. We don't have much planned, I was in the garden over the weekend and got it all dug up and weeded so I am thinking about doing some planting.

We are back on the Gousto boxes this week. I wasn't too fussed about getting one but the girls really pleaded their cases saying they really wanted the meals they picked out, I think the worst thing I ever did was show them the Gousto website. lol Ellie has said that she wants to help with the cooking so that is a bonus.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Jacket potatoes with baked beans and cheese.
Tuesday - Gousto meal - Lemony Chicken Milanese With Spaghetti and Tomato Sauce
Wednesday - Gousto meal - Pork Spring Roll Wraps With Sweet Chilli Sauce.
Thursday - Gousto meal - Smoky Beef Mince Enchiladas With Tomato Salsa.
Friday - Gousto meal - Garlic Bread Chicken Burger With Roasted Garlic Aioli.
Saturday - Red onion and bacon tart with new potatoes.
Sunday - Sunday lunch out! We have options now. I don't know whether we will go to the pub our our favourite cafe.

What are you eating this week?

Week 14 of #Project365 31st March - 6th April. A photo every day for a year!

Happy Sunday! I hope you all have a nice relaxed day! We don't have much on today, I did all the housework and gardening yesterday so I think today will be mostly sat, complaining about my achy back while catching up on the first night of Wrestlemania 40!

We have had a good week with Stu being on holiday from work and Ellie off college, we have indulged ourselves with lots of yummy food and sleeping late. I don't want to get back to a normal routine tomorrow but we need to, I become lazy when my family is home and I have them to help with jobs around the house.

Now for a photo everyday!

Garlic mushrooms and lighter nights
My girls
Dark and Kinder egg
My youngest and gardening gloves

91/365 - 31st March
We went out for lunch and this was Stu's starter, garlic mushrooms. The sauce was amazing and was cooked from scratch.

92/365 - 1st April
The lighter evenings are here!! I took this at 7pm and it was still light, what a novelty! I have been losing track of time on an evening though, I keep thinking it's about 4pm and it's actually 6pm. Oops.

93/365 - 2nd April
Just my girls. Ellie my youngest is looking too grown up for my liking. We went out for a meal and to the pub quiz.

94/365 - 3rd April
What a difference in weather! It rained off and on for most of the day. It was just after lunchtime when I took this photo and ended up having to put the light on as it was so dark.

95/365 - 4th April
Mini Kinder eggs are good but it's just a shame the kids wouldn't share more with me. Hmmf. To be fair if I had a bag full I wouldn't want to share either.

96/365 - 5th April
Out for another meal, to the all you can eat place in Hull! We love it and we do get our money's worth.

97/365 - 6th April
I got myself some new gardening gloves, hopefully to give me some motivation to get the back garden weeded and dug. It worked, I had it all done in a couple of hours and then enjoyed a nice, long soak in the bath!

This week my Word of the Week is: Overindulged! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Overindulged
When I was thinking of a word to use I couldn't decide whether to us indulged or overindulged. We have done everything to an excess this week so I think overindulged is the way to go.

Stu has had a week off from work and Ellie has been off college for her Easter break which has meant we have had a lot of family time. Stu especially needed the break after having Covid last week, thankfully we didn't catch it which is a small miracle but he felt tired out by the time he finished work. We have had so many lie in's. Not having an alarm clock set has been such a treat and we have all probably slept more than we should have. I am blaming the clocks changing for us being extra tired, of course it has nothing to do with us all staying up later on a night. hehehe

We have especially overindulged in food. Stu and I have been to the pub to eat out twice, once on Sunday where we had a 3 course Sunday lunch which I mentioned in my Friday Favourites yesterday and on Tuesday when we took the kids along for a meal. The food being served is cooked from scratch and is proper home cooked food but made to look fancy. I went with my usual scampi and chips which was perfect! Becky had the best lasagne ever, she was in cheese heaven, Ellie had the gammon which was so good and Stu had the sausage and mash. Their mash is amazing, they say it's creamy but words can't describe it.

We all had dessert which wasn't really needed as we were all full, we ended up feeling stuffed but it was worth it. We ended up staying at the pub for the quiz and it turns out we are cleverer than we thought and came 2nd.

We went shopping in Hull yesterday so of course had to call into the all you can eat place and of course ate far too much. On the way home we got cookies and donuts from Batch'd and we are having one last foodie treat with breakfast out this morning or lunch time if we end up sleeping late again.

I have got to the point now where I know I have overindulged in watching The Walking Dead, I keep having weird dreams about not so much zombies or fighting but going places and there being abandoned. This weekend is going to be all about watching wresting with it being the WWE's main event of the year, Wrestlemania. It's on over 2 nights but we won't be staying up to watch it as it starts at 1am which is just too late for us.

One thing I have not overindulged in over the past week is housework, it has all been done but I haven't had it all to do. My family might think they have overindulged in jobs around the house as they have been helping out but it has been nice for me. It has been brilliant to have a week of not having to wash the dishes, Stu has mostly done them, Ellie has kept on top of the washing pile and Becky has helped out when she hasn't been sleeping for work.

How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one!

What I have loved this week! Week 14. #FridayFavourites

Hello there and happy Friday! I have had a great week, my fella is all better after testing positive for Covid and the rest of us amazingly didn't catch it, He has had the week off work and my youngest has been off college for Easter break which has been a nice treat but I am lost with what day it is. We have had some sunshine, warm days but have been accompanied by lots of rain. I am linking up with Erika and Andrea and share some of my favourites from this past week.

What I loved this week

Sunday Lunch!
We went to the pub for Sunday lunch, it was the first time since the new owners took over they were serving it and they did a great job. We were lucky to get a table but arrived just at the right time. I had prawn cocktail for starters, roast chicken and all the trimmings for my main and chocolate brownie and ice cream for dessert. The owner was asking for feedback and the only complaint we had was that there was too much food for the main course, we felt bad that some of it went to waste. I got a whole chicken breast, leg, roast and mashed potatoes, parsnips, stuffing, a giant Yorkshire pudding then sides of green beans, cauliflower cheese, swede and carrots.

Gardening!
Earlier in the week we went to the farm shop and bought a ton of bedding plants for the planters in the front garden. There was a lot of weeding to be done before we got around to the planting but it was worth it. They look fabulous!

Easter Eggs!
We have eaten far too chocolate over the past week. Chocolate always seems to taste better in egg form. We've had the big Cadbury one's, Creme eggs and lots of mini eggs too, they are my favourite.

Barbie!
We went to the cinema to see the Barbie movie and enjoyed it so was looking forward to it coming on the movie channels on TV. I have watched it twice over the past week, I do love it! The bonus to watching it over the past week was that I knew all the songs so could have a good sing along.

Apple crumble and custard.
We ate out again at the pub later in the week and for dessert I had apple crumble and custard. I was starting to wonder why it was taking so long to arrive at the table but it turns out that it was made from scratch. I know they advertise home cooked food but still assumed they would use some things ready made and just reheated, it tasted so good!

A pan rack!
Since we had the new gas cooker installed the gas pipe is in the back of the cupboard more than it was before. The pans wouldn't fit in the cupboard so have been sat on the dryer for the past couple of weeks but it was getting annoying so my fella took the wood which came with the cooker packaging, screwed some screws in, attached it to the wall and ta-da we now have somewhere to hang the pans.

New hair!
This week I remembered why I don't like the light purple hair that I had, it fades too quickly! It was starting to go patchy and didn't look great so I popped a dark pink colour over the top and this is what I ended up with. It is so bright and will do for another month or so.

Quiz night!
We went to the pub's quiz night and actually did pretty well. We came 2nd! They were doing an online quiz for the first time using the Kahoot app which the kids remember using at school and I think it's a great idea as it stops cheating and people looking up the answers. The questions appeared on the big TV and you picked the correct answer on the app on your phone, you only have about 30 seconds which adds to the fun! It's amazing how many random facts I know that were actually useful. lol

What have you loved over the past week?
