Our weekly meal plan! 8th - 14th July! #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Last weeks meal plan went well! We ate everything but not necessarily on the day that I had planned. Our weekend was the best with it being the agricultural show. We went to the pub on Friday evening to see an Abba tribute band and the pub was doing a BBQ. We had burgers, hot dogs, cheesy chips and chips with chicken curry which was way to spicy for me but Stu and Ellie loved it. On Saturday at the show we ate far too much. Burgers, pulled pork, pizza, brownies and fudge! We were going to get an ice cream but ended up with a hot chocolate as it got quite chilly. It was still a good day though. On Sunday it rained and we decided not to go to the show. By early evening it dried up and we ended up going to the pub for kebabs and to see a couple of bands. It was such a good weekend but I do feel like we need to eat some proper meals.

I forgot all about ordering a Gousto box and only realised late in the week so I had to have a real think about what we are eating and turned back to Gousto for some recipes. We don't have much on this week, after the weekend we need a quiet few days. I have all the housework to catch up on today which I didn't do over the weekend and that's about it.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Chicken fajitas.
Tuesday - Meatloaf with baby potatoes and carrots. This is based on a Gousto recipe but instead of lamb mince as it's so expensive I am using beef.
Wednesday - Quiche and salad. I will be making the quiche with whatever we have in the fridge.
Thursday - Tuna pasta salad.
Friday - Homemade fish fingers with chips and minty mushy peas. Gousto taught me how to make my own fish fingers and they do taste better than shop bought one's,
Saturday - Pizza. They might be home made.
Sunday - A roast dinner of some sort.

What are you eating this week?

Week 27 of #Project365 30th June - 6th July. A photo every day for a year!

We have had a good week and such a busy weekend so far. On Friday evening we were at the local pub watching an Abba tribute band which was fantastic and yesterday and today see's the local agricultural show happening. We were out yesterday but did make a point of getting home in time to watch the football. We will be out today too as long as the weather isn't too bad. It was forecast rain most of yesterday but there was one big shower and that was it, we didn't let it ruin our day, we just hid in the craft tent until it had passed.

Now for a photo every day!

Shania Twain
Shoes and red nail polish
My youngest and the polling station
Abba Tribute and horse stunt people

182/365 - 30th June
Shania Twain was one of my favourite performers at Glastonbury. She is someone that I would love to see live! She hasn't seemed to age either! She looks the same as she did in the 90's. lol

183/365 - 1st July
Ellie bought herself some shoes, her first ever one's with a high heel. I was a big dubious at first thinking there was no way she'd be able to walk in them but she surprised me. She is a natural in heels. She wore them on Friday evening and it was only as we were walking home she complained about sore feet but it's no wonder with all the dancing that she did.

184/365 - 2nd July
When I was in hospital with Ellie I picked all the gel nail polish off, partly due to stress and partly due to boredom. I gave my nails almost a week of a break before I repainted them a very bright red! Years ago I used to shy away from bright colours now I just think life is too short not to have fun!

185/365 - 3rd July
Both myself and Ellie had our hair cut and dyed. I did it and I think I did a good job.

186/365 - 4th July
Stu, Becky and myself went to vote and then spend the evening dying to know the result. I stayed up until the first few areas announced their results and woke in the morning to see that Labour had won. I am not a fan of Starmer but our country needed the change.

187/365 - 5th July
Our fun weekend started with us going to see an Abba Tribute band. They were brilliant, sung all the hits and had everyone up dancing. The pub had an outside bar and BBQ going and it was such a fun evening. There was a group of young lads up on the pub wall watching Abba, singing along and dancing which gave everyone a good chuckle.

188/365 - 6th July
Show day! We love the local agricultural show. It is such a good couple of days out and something different to do. We stuffed our faces with burgers, pulled pork, doughnuts and we were going to get an ice cream until it turned chilly and we ended up with a hot chocolate. In the main arena there was a team of stunt riders and horses who were amazing to watch!

This week my Word of the Week is: Good! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Good

This week has been a good week, well it couldn't be any worse than last week after Ellie's drama's. She is fine and it has been lovely to spend time with her as she is on her summer break from college now. There has been a lot of grovelling and sucking up from her. hehehe She's had her phone took off her and limited internet access so she has spent more time being sociable instead of looking at a screen although she has been playing a lot of The Sims! I say playing it but she just likes building houses and not actually dealing with The Sims lives. We have said we will all be spending less time in front of screens over the summer.

Becky made me so proud! She was out on Thursday all day and could have stayed at her friends but she made a point of coming home just so she can vote! I think it's good that she uses her vote as many of her friends don't bother and they are the generation who need to have their say to change things!! I am glad the Conservatives are out, I am not a fan of Starmer but the change needed to happen. I suppose it could have been worse.

A few weeks ago I mentioned how Stu had a dispute on eBayStu sold a computer part and the buyer said the package arrived empty. After I took over messaging being not as polite as Stu the buyer backtracked and said it arrived fine but it was opened and stolen from inside his house. The buyer still expected a refund and of course eBay sided with the buyer like they always do. We were not having it so I found the dispute a dispute part of the website and there was a little button to press to have eBay ring. Stu spoke to them on the phone and explained what had happened. It turns out because the buyer provided a tracking number the automated thing assumed the buyer was sending the item back for a refund, the item that had been stolen! He did seem like a scammer and eBay thought so too as his account has been banned. The guy on the phone was a great help and made us realise how much of eBay is automated. Stu had his money returned within a day. I don't know if the buyer had any money refunded. I don't think he should have but it was a good result for us.

I think in a past life I was a hairdresser. hehehe I haven't had good experiences getting my hair cut in the past and I will never forget the time Stu took Ellie to get her hair trimmed and it was nowhere near straight so now I do the hair cutting and I think I do a good job!

Hair cuts

I cut and dyed mine and Ellie's hair during the week. Ellie's is so easy to do. I put it in two hair bobbles one on the top pointing up and one at the back and just cut. When the bobbles are taken out she has layers! It's just the fringe that I struggle with, I can never get it perfect, the bit in the middle above her nose is a little short but it looks better than it did! I ended up cutting my hair shorter than I had planned as I cut too much off one side and then had to cut more off the other side to make it match. Oops.

My plants are doing well again! Hooray! After missing watering for them a couple of days last week they were looking pretty sorry for themselves but I've been watering them but trying not to over water them at the same time and they have came back to life. My biggest issue over the past couple of days has been keeping them upright. It has been a little bit windy and the taller plants have fallen over more than a few times.

I am hoping for some good weather as we are out and about all weekend. It's looking like we could be getting some rain so I must remember my umbrella! We must be home by 5pm tonight to watch the football. I hope the England team do better than their last match, that was stressful!

I hope you have all had a good week!

What I have loved this week! Week 27. #FridayFavourites

I had a break from linking up to the Friday Favorites with Erika and Andrea last week, in fact I didn't even write a post of things that I loved as we had drama with my youngest and I just wasn't in the right head space for blogging. Things are much better now and I have some favourites to share. We have a busy few days planned but I will get around reading the other posts and commenting sometime over the weekend.

What I have loved this week

The NHS!
Our National Health Service is amazing and I am so grateful for them. My youngest was admitted to hospital after doing something silly. She got drunk on one of the hottest day's of the year and was treated for dehydration and alcohol poisoning. The doctors, nurses, health care assistants, cleaners and even reception staff did all they could to make the whole awful experience as easy as they could be. Ellie even said that she felt like she was wasting their time when it was her fault that it happened. Yes, it was her fault but we are not holding it against her, we were all teenagers once and made stupid mistakes. Words have been had, she hasn't had her phone for over a week, treats have been few and far between and there's certainly no going out with friends for the foreseeable.

Football!
England are through to the quarter finals of the Euro's but they sure went the long way around it. They were losing one goal down from around 25 minutes and most of us watching at home were saying the manager should be sacked for not bringing substitutions on. It seemed hopeless until we scored in the last minute of extra time which I don't think anyone expected! It went to extra, extra time and we got another and sailed through to the next round. I almost lost my voice shouting at the TV. I don't think my nerves can take watching another England match. I have enjoyed watching the other matches too. On Saturday we saw a game stopped just before half time because of a storm, there was thunder, lightning and a ton of rain, people had to leave their seats because of it! I've never seen a match stopped like that before! There was Cristiano Ronaldo crying because he missed a penalty. Lots of yellow cards and disallowed goals. I think I love all the drama more than the actual football. lol

Rain at the football

My own bed!
After spending a night, mostly awake in hospital with Ellie I really am appreciating my bed. On the 2nd night of her hospital stay Ellie's dad stayed with her and I was in bed just after 8pm and woke at around 6am. That seems to have gave my sleep pattern the kick up the bum it needed and now most nights I am asleep by 11pm and waking up just after 7am. I am not a morning person so that is amazing for me! I feel like I am getting quality sleep and feel amazing for it!

Game of Thrones.
I did start watching House of the Dragon, the prequal to Game of Thrones and got about 10 minutes in and realised I was not in the mood for it. I needed something easy to watch and Game of Thrones was the obvious choice. I've seen it all before and it's great for a bit of background noise and something that I can occasionally glance at.

Glastonbury Festival.
Over the weekend most of the festival was shown on TV. Dua Lipa, Coldplay and someone called SZA were headlining but some of my favourites were Shania Twain, she of course was amazing and how does she not age? There was also Paloma Faith, Paul Heaton, The Streets and Cyndi Lauper. I always think I only know one of her songs, Girls Just Want To Have Fun and then she started singing and I knew a lot more!

Shania Twain

An eBay win!
I am going to write more about it tomorrow but my fella sold something on eBay and we think the buyer was a bit of a scammer as he claimed the package was empty and then changed his story to it was stolen from his house. We didn't expect my fella to get any money back as eBay always sides with the buyer but he did. Phew!

Moving the furniture!
Every so often I like to change the furniture around and over the weekend I did just that! I now have my armchair at the other side of the room from the window and I can see outside. I am one of those nosy neighbours and like to see who's coming and going. hehehe

Voting!
It was our General Election yesterday and my fella, eldest and myself of course voted. I think our country is expecting to wake up this morning after all the votes have been counted to a new Prime Minister being announced, I hope so anyway, there needs to be a change. I just hope it's for the better!

What have you loved over the last week?
