Yay! It’s the 1st of February and January, the month everyone seems to dread is finally over! I didn’t hate it this year. I think keeping myself busy really helped the days not drag. I had a cold in the middle of the month but even that had a silver lining, forcing me to slow down and enjoy days without pressuring myself to be busy every moment.
This week has been a mix of staying busy indoors and avoiding the miserable weather outside. I’ve had enough rain for a lifetime. Every time I peeked out the window it seemed to be raining! We got a sunny, dry day mid-week and it felt like magic! It made me start thinking about my plans for the garden this year, seeds and growing things and yesterday was dry and sunny too which boosted my motivation and I got some jobs done around the house. I can't wait for spring!
Now for a photo every day!
25/365 - 25th January!
On Sunday, I was catching up with the wrestling which was on in the early hours. We have been spoilt this week. There was an extra show last Saturday, a 5pm start on Friday and a big show last night too.
26/365 - 26th January!
Just a chocolate eclair, an after-tea treat! It came in a box of two and I let Ellie have the other one, she loves sweet treats too.
27/365 - 27th January!
I finally finished my Hagrid’s Hut Terrarium! The plaster of Paris pieces from last week were the hut and the pumpkins. They are now painted and fully assembled into a little magical scene. I love how something so small can brighten a corner of my room.
28/365 - 28th January!
I made a batch of scones and decided to try something different. Normally I brush them with milk before popping them in the oven but this time I used a beaten egg. They came out shiny with golden brown tops that looked extra fancy but I still prefer the look that milk gives.
29/365 - 29th January!
I joined the library to get free audiobooks and they have so much to choose from. I have made a list of books which have taken my fancy and I’m excited to start working my way through them.
30/365 - 30th January!
I stepped out into the garden, to put some rubbish out and get a bit of fresh air. It was looking pretty dismal out there with the rain, the weeds and overgrown flowerbeds. It all looked pretty sad and ugly. The garden needs sorting out soon.
31/365 - 31st January!
Pancakes for tea along with bacon and eggs. A nice easy one because I wanted to be sat in front of the TV at 7pm ready to watch the wrestling!

Scones look great. Enjoy the books.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness...I sure enjoyed each of these images of the foods you shared. Scones are my fav and even better is blueberry scones. Stay warm Kim...It is so cold here!!
ReplyDeleteWe had chocolate eclairs just the other day. Hubby stopped to get them after his haircut at the barbershop. Soooo good!
ReplyDeleteI love scones and we often have savoury cheese scones with chutney for a snack, yum!
ReplyDeleteThe scones look great. I always make plain ones, but I use milk too. Egg is fine but I find I end up with spare unused egg, and then what do you do with that. Easier with milk to get the amount I need right. Glad you're getting into the audiobooks. My to read pile (well, on my Kindle) is never ending, however much I try and stop buying (I topped up by about 50 books on Stash my kindle day back in early January with free books which didn't help)
ReplyDeleteAwesome week! Your scones looks so good! You know every time I see these post I tell myself I want to do this and then I forget!!!! LOL!!! One year, I will do a photo every day!! I wanted to try that this year but...sigh....welll.....
ReplyDeleteI would have wrestled Ellie for that second eclaire!! Oh my goodness, I do love them!! Happy February, Kim!!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, scones! Probably one of my fave goodies that I liked to make, but I don't anymore (health problems, ugh). I used to make them for Scottish teas we had at a previous church. Twas lots of fun. (Hubby is Scottish.) I never liked eclairs, but hubby could've gobbled a thousand if I let him, haha. Have a wonderful new week and new month, Kim!
ReplyDeleteYour food photos are making me hungry, your scones look amazing. I never bother with a glaze when I bake scones but I really should if that's how they come out.
ReplyDeleteThe terrarium looks great, I hope you had fun making it.
I feel the same about my garden at the moment, I'm waiting for a few dry days so I can get outside and tidy up.
I'm not sure I've ever seen pancakes in a package like this here - we have lots of options that are frozen, but they taste just like that, like they were previously frozen! An ad popped up on Facebook today for pillow pancakes at M&S, I wonder what they are like?
ReplyDeleteThe chocolate eclaire looks delicious, and so do the scones (which also reminds me I haven't baked scones in ages). I didn't know you can get e-audio-books in the library, would need to investigate how it works. I used to listen to books on tapes many years ago, also borrowed from the library, I suppose the tapes don't exist any longer.
ReplyDeleteYour Hagrid project looks fab! It is colourful and whimsical, just lovely.
I was so curious, last week, what you were making and I love the look of the hut. It's so cute!! Well done!
ReplyDeleteMy garden looks the same, some of the plants need cutting back. With all this rain I am not keen on doing that though.
Dark days with rain deplete my energy, and I am glad you got at least one sunny day. Yeah, January is over. Let's hope you get lots of sun in February! MMBC
ReplyDeleteAvoiding the miserable weather at this time of year sounds like a good plan – it is nice when you do get a sunny day though. Love your Hagrid’s Hut terrarium. Those scones look delicious. #project365
ReplyDeleteYour scones look so delicious. Scones are one of my favorite treats, but they are surprisingly hard to find around here. I've never tried making them myself either, but I guess I should!
