I hope you are all having a good week? It's Wednesday which means it's time to join in with the Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond! Each week there are 6 questions, we answer and then link up. Simple!
1. When does time pass slowly for you? When does time past quickly for you?
It feels like times passes so slowly when I am waiting for something exciting. Like now is really dragging because I am planning my fellas and girls birthdays. I just want their special days to be here but I know when they are time will go so quickly and their birthdays will be over in a flash. Birthdays always seem to go twice as fast as other days!!
2. Do you have a favorite beach? What's your favorite 'beach' activity? Tell us what we'd find in your beach bag.
Ahh! I always say that Amble, on the Northumberland coast is the best beach I have visited, it might not be the biggest beach or a tourist spot but it is charming, quiet and just beautiful to look at. It is my families happy place, has the best chip shop, a little lighthouse, a working harbour and there is of course sand which my girls used to play on for hours when we they were little.
At the beach I just like to sit. Watch people and the waves coming in. If we go to the beach we have to have chips! They always taste so good wrapped in paper with lashings of salt and vinegar on.
In my beach bag you would find all the usual stuff, it's quite boring really. Sun cream, sunglasses, snacks, tissues, a towel, loose change, headphones and a plastic carrier bag to put any soggy clothes in.
3. Your favorite book or movie with a beach setting?
My first thought was Mamma Mia but it's not my favourite movie, I think I would have to go with Moana, I know it's an animated one but it's such a cute movie with a fantastic soundtrack.
4. What's a food you love, but find it's a pain to eat? Is it worth it?
The first thing which came to mind was corn on the cob especially when it's covered in butter but for me it's burgers which cause me problems! Buns, meat, salad, maybe bacon, pickles and onions, all piled high can be intimidating and trying to fit that whole thing in my mouth is impossible so I take awkward bites where half the fillings slide out the sides and end up on my hands, my lap or the floor. Then there's the sauce which oozes out the bun sometimes gets soggy and I end up with ketchup on my face. Burgers are totally worth the mess and fuss to eat though!
5. Do you like roller coasters? What's the best (or worst) roller coaster you've been on?
I used to love roller coasters when I was younger, I had no fear then but now, I like to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground. I think my favourite roller coaster from years ago was Nemesis at Alton Towers. It is one of those coasters where the track is above you and your feet dangle down.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
My youngest is 17 years old and is trying to find a part time job which is proving very frustrating as most places want over 18 year olds and won't even let her apply until she turns 18. What makes it even more annoying is that by the time the employers have processed the applicants, the interviews have been done and she gets a start date she will most likely will have turned 18 as it is her birthday in five weeks time!
What would you answer for these questions?
Now I'm craving chips with vinegar. We never made it to that particular spot while living there. We went to the beach at Brighton, and at first found the rocks odd, but ended up loving how therapeutic it felt to just sit and let them slide through your fingers. I'm sure your birthday celebrations will be fab! You're putting a lot of thought into making their days special and that is what I most appreciate on my own birthday. Knowing someone thought of me is the gift. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI never thought about a burger in that way but you are right- it's hard to get a piled high one in your mouth and then toppings can come loose as well! Your beach sounds lovely- not touristy- count me in! I love the Florida beaches we've visited but none have not been touristy (some weren't super crowded thankfully). That's too bad about your youngest and her tough time finding a job. I hope she finds one. Teens under 18 around here can find jobs pretty readily- we have lots of fast food restaurants and stores here. Growing up in my very small town, I couldn't find a job until I turned 18 so I know the feeling. Hope your day is going well :).
ReplyDeleteLove that description of eating a burger!
