Our weekly meal plan! 19th - 25th August! #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

August is the fastest month of the year, well for me it is. It always seems to whiz over. Of course it's the summer holidays and Stu and Ellie have their birthdays but if it could just slow down a little that would be great! It doesn't seem that long until Ellie will be back at college. Thankfully we are just about all ready for that, I did the last of admin for that and ordered her bus pass. We don't have any uniform to order or buy as she has the boots and overalls from last year. She could have had new but it's taken her a year to wear the boots in so they are comfy and the overalls were and are still too big on her. As much as the college is about equal opportunities for all sexes the overalls are still made for young men and not so much for young ladies.

Last weeks meal plan went to plan! We ate everything on the day that I had planned. We have found some new favourites from Gousto. The herby pork and egg burger was so simple to make and delicious and the BBQ butter chicken was amazing! Who'd have thought mixing butter and BBQ sauce and putting it on chicken breasts would make them taste so good. We actually had two meals out for Stu's birthday on Friday. Breakfast and our evening meal. We certainly ate well and by 8pm it felt like were in a food coma. It was worth it though although he didn't actually get his birthday cake until the Saturday.

I have no real plans for this week but I am sure I will find something to do with myself. Becky's girlfriend has been away for the last couple of weeks on holiday so Becky is looking forward to seeing her again. I think later on in the week the girls and I are going to do a bit of birthday shopping. Ellie has enough but Becky needs to pick out some trainers that she wants and a few other things.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Gousto meal - Sticky Honey Mustard Posh Dogs With Chips! Our favourite!.
Tuesday - Gousto meal - Pepperoni Pizza Mac 'N' Cheese.
Wednesday - Gousto meal - Sausage & Roasted Veg Tray Bake.
Thursday - Gousto meal - Hoisin Pork Burger With Black Sesame Chips.
Friday - Pizza
Saturday - Prawn cocktail salad with some nice brown bread.
Sunday - A Sunday lunch of some sort.

What are you eating this week?

Week 33 of #Project365 11th - 17th August. A photo every day for a year!

Sunday again and this week has flown over, we have been busy. We have celebrated Stu's birthday, had a trip to the hospital for Ellie to have a blood test, it was nothing serious just a check up after being in hospital a couple of months ago and just pottered around the house. I have been out more than usual which of course is a good thing although as of writing this yesterday I am hiding in the house as Stu is tidying and reorganising the garage. I do not want to be roped into to help. hehehe

Now for a photo every day!

Ice lolly and a cat coaster
A 20 pound note
Back garden and sparkly nails
My fella and I and the garage

224/365 - 11th August
An ice lolly. We have eaten a lot of frozen treats over the last week or so. This one was a Tropical Twister. Yum, yum! I stocked up the other day on more and treated myself to some Feast Ice Cream sticks.

225/365 - 12th August
Karma is a cat coaster! Ellie bought it for herself. She is asking for a cat again and I am saying no again.

226/365 - 13th August
It was only this week that I saw the new £20 notes with King Charles on. I don't usually have money, I am one of those people who just pay using my bank card.

227/365 - 14th August
The back garden is looking pretty wild but the bee's and butterflies are loving the flowers. We are going to hold off cutting it as this time last year when we did the weather was too hot and it did the grass no favours.

228/365 - 15th August
Sparkly nails. My family were questioning my choices when I painted them black, they breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the sparkles and jazzed them up a bit.

229/365 - 16th August
Stu's birthday and he had a great day! We don't usually get photos together but I made a point of making him pose for one, he wasn't happy. hehehe

230/365 - 17th August
Stu decided today was the day that he was going to sort the garage out. It started with taking everything out. He counted more than 15 Gousto cardboard boxes. He is putting his foot down and folding them up and is going to take them to the tip. I keep saying they will come in useful for something.

This week my Word of the Week is: Out! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Out

For the last month I have been a bit of a hermit, I haven't been going out much unless it was to my dad's or when Stu has been with me. This past week I've had no option but to go out and I actually enjoyed it.

Ellie was supposed to have a blood test, just a check after being in hospital at the end of July but things happened and the blood test didn't happen. We got a phone call from the doctors asking if she was ready for it and we were good to go. It turns out our doctor sends under 18's to the hospital to have blood tests but it wasn't just a case of booking us in for that, that would of course been too easy. We had to wait until the day after the phone call to get the paperwork and Ellie and I had a walk out to get it on Wednesday morning. I have been walking to the doctors and for years it has always taken me 25 minutes, Ellie showed me a short cut and it cut 10 minutes off the walk. How did I not know about the way Ellie took me? We then decided we needed to go into town to get something nice for lunch, we might as well treat ourselves since we were out of the house. It was a nice walk, looking at all the fancy houses that we don't usually see. Lunch was only a Tesco meal deal but it was so good after not having one for ages. We called in the post office too to get Stu some birthday cards. They always have the best selection locally to us.

I have spent some time out in the garden doing some weeding, why didn't I add that to my least favourite activities post earlier on in the week. It's like laundry, a never ending job!! Thankfully it didn't take me long, with the ground being so dry all of the weeds were coming out easily.

On Thursday we were out at my dad's. He was on with building another shed, putting the tin sheets around the sides. My brother was helping and Ellie was laughing at him saying she'd be banned from college if she used ladders like he does. The ladder wasn't flat on the ground, he was hanging off it trying to reach over to put a big bolt in and at one point actually left the ladder and ended up on the wooden joists at the top. He's a danger! lol

Yesterday was Stu's birthday and also the day we had to go to the hospital for Ellie's blood test. We had breakfast out and then headed to the hospital. Getting blood out of Ellie was a lot easier than when she was in hospital, well almost! The nurse tried one arm and got nothing and tried the other arm and it came flooding out. Phew! We went back into town and did a bit of shopping and then headed home to get ready for a night out. Of course we went to the local pub, had some food and a few drinks.

How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one!

What I have loved this week! Week 33. #FridayFavourites

How is it Friday already? This week has flown over! We have had a good one, we've not been up to much really but it has been nice just doing our own thing and whatever we want. I am of course linking up with Erika and Andrea for their Friday Favourites.

What I have loved this week

The Umbrella Academy!
I saw that the 4th and last season was released on Netflix last week and I jumped straight in to the new episodes and didn't have a clue what was going on. Time to watch it from the beginning! I forgot how good it was!

On one day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who creates the Umbrella Academy and prepares his "children" to save the world. In their teenage years, though, the family fractures and the team disbands. Fast forward to the present time, when the six surviving members of the clan reunite upon the news of Hargreeves' passing. They work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father's death, but divergent personalities and abilities again pull the estranged family apart, and a global apocalypse is another imminent threat.

The characters are so different from each other and the soundtrack is just brilliant! I only found out this week that The series is based on a collection of comics and graphic novels created and written by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way!

This coaster!

karma is a cat

Ellie has restarted her campaign that we must have a pet and a cat is the obvious choice this time! Earlier this year Becky was asking for a dog and I said no then and will still be saying no to a cat too. Our life is not ready for any type of pet, I am not saying never, just not at the moment!

15 years since heart surgery!
This time 15 years ago we were getting ready to go into hospital for both of my girls to have open heart surgery, I blogged about it yesterday. It's something I don't want to remember, it was such an awful time but at the same time we celebrate it as the girls are here, healthy and are doing well!

An unplanned night out!
Stu rang from work, while he was on his afternoon break and asked if we wanted to go out for tea. When he rang I was walking home from my dad's so was feeling quite stressed, I am still not doing well at being out of the house so I said no, I don't want to go out. By the time he had finished work, early which was a treat in it's self I had changed my mind and me, Stu and the girls went out for tea and I am so glad we did. The food was of course amazing and it was lovely to catch up with some friends that I haven't seen in ages.

A prawn Tartlet!

A prawn tartlet

My favourite ever starter is a prawn cocktail and I didn't think that such a basic starter could be improved but it has been! Our local pub is now serving a Prawn Cocktail Tartlet! All that is different is there is less lettuce and a pastry case in it's place which makes it even more amazing to me, not being a huge fan of lettuce!

Stu's birthday!
Today is my fellas birthday, I had planned a night away but that was cancelled because of things happening at home. We do have some things planned for today which should be nice for Stu, at least he remembered to take his birthday off work this year, last year he didn't bother and it was rubbish as we hardly seen him. I think Becky has got him the best present this year. 36 pairs of socks, they were a bundle off eBay, all new of course. He is always complaining how he can never find any socks as we all pinch them, there should be no complaints now. hehehe

Ice cream and lollies!
This week has been a warm one, every day has been in the high 20's sometimes reaching 30C which is pretty warm for this part of the world. Opening the back door and windows was a waste of time, it was just letting hot air in so we sat inside trying to stay cool and all of the ice cream and ice lollies have helped. We've had all different flavours and types. I am so glad I stocked up and I bought more to come with the grocery shop yesterday.

What have you loved this week?
