Share our Lives - My least favourite activities!

This months Share Our Lives linky prompt is: Least Favorite Activities! I had a list a mile long when I was thinking out this blog post but they mainly involved jobs around the house like cleaning the loo and changing the bedding. lol I thought a bit harder and came up with the tasks in my life which make me groan, roll my eyes and wish I was anywhere but doing them.

A cat feeling Ugh

Waiting in queues!
Oh, the joys of standing in lines! Brits are famous for our queuing skills. It's practically a national sport. But let’s be honest, standing in line at the post office, the supermarket, or waiting for the bus can be mind numbingly dull. It's a test my patience, stamina, and how many times I can check my phone without seeming too obvious. They are like a vortex that sucks away precious minutes of your life. Waiting on hold, in a queue on the phone is even worse. The elevator music, the repetitive "Your call is important to us" message and the uncertainty of how long I'll be stuck in phone limbo!

Paying bills.
I know they are part of life, everyone has bills to pay but I really dislike paying them. When it's pay day and I see all that money I smile and then remember half of it will be gone in a couple of hours on silly things like rent, gas, electricity, water and food! I remember the good old days when my biggest financial concern was how many sweets I could buy with my pocket money.

Waking Up Early!
I am not a morning person. I never have been and I never will be. Thankfully now I rarely have to set an alarm clock. That sound, I used to dread it! When I do have to get up early I hate it, obviously I always seem to have the worst sleep and waking up early feels like being dragged out of a warm, cosy paradise into a cold harsh reality!

Filling Out Forms!
Whether it’s for a job application, medical history, or government paperwork, filling out forms is a tedious task! The boxes are never big enough, the questions are often confusing and there’s always that one section that I forget to sign. Last month we had to fill in the forms for my youngest girls 2nd year at college, they were online and that didn't make the job any easier! Ugh!

Dealing with teenage/young adult dramas!
It's great that my girls come and talk to me about their lives but some of the dramas that they get themselves involved in is just ridiculous. Of course, I am their mother and I will help them when and where I can but I would rather they didn't have these dramas that they've involved themselves in!

Grocery shopping!
It's not even the going to the supermarket which bothers me, I don't. I do an online shop every week and get it delivered. It's the trying to remember everything that we need, booking it at the right time and coming up with ideas of what we are going to eat! That is one of the reasons that I love getting Gousto boxes, everything for the meals are delivered.

Doing Laundry!
Laundry is the chore that never ends! Just when you think you’ve conquered the mountain of dirty clothes, another pile magically appears. (thanks family). Sorting, washing, drying, folding, putting away and let’s not forget the socks. Where do they go? I saw a meme years ago saying something like "nudists have the right idea, less clothes to wash".

Small Talk!
Small talk is an art form which I have never mastered! I find it so awkward whether it's with the taxi driver, someone in the street or the person next to me in the queue. The small talk is always about the weather too, I just find it so boring and sometimes wish people wouldn't talk to me.

What are your least favourite activities in life?

  1. You made me LOL about small talk! Hahaha, I’m the same way! Filling out forms is the worst, and I always put it off until the last minute. It’s bad enough dealing with paper forms, but now I sometimes have to fill them out on the computer or phone, convert them to PDF, and send them back. Ugh, it’s such a process!

  2. I also hate filling out forms. I feel like if I do it wrong, there will be severe consequences. Ugh.

  3. I hate forms. a lot are so repetitious too just worded differently. Our school paperwork was all online that I had to do 3x, why couldn't everything just copy and paste from one child to the next.

  4. I don't like lines and small talk either.

  5. I really don't enjoy grocery shopping either. There was a time that I did, or at least did not mind it, but these days...not so much. And I 100 percent agree with small talk. I do NOT enjoy it. Especially idle chat about the weather....folks seem to enjoy talking about the weather as much here as they do over there!!

  6. I hate paying bills, too! I think it's the worst way to spend both money and time and, sadly, there are always more bills!

  7. Waiting on the phone on hold is endless, drives me nuts and don't get me started on forms.

  8. I can't believe I didn't think about waiting in line or getting put on hold and yes, filling out forms is the worst. I get really annoyed when the same form with ask me some of the same questions on both the front and back; like is it really that hard to flip it over and look?!

  10. I am not keen on small talk either. Laundry is so annoying. I do 4-5 loads, all the clothes are clean... and I go to take a shower and put new stuff in the laundry basket! Arrghhh :))
