Becky and I were keen to give this a try so on Friday afternoon we got all the ingredients together for strawberry ice-cream!!

45 ml of Milk
45 ml of Double cream
1 tbsp of Sugar
1/2 tea spoon of Vanilla essence.
Three strawberries - Crushed.

We mixed all the ingredients together and added them to the metal cone...Making sure not to go past the line indicated....

Then we got onto adding some crushed ice to the blue container....With a little help from Stu and a hammer....We added the salt and then had to take half the ice out to fit the cone with the ice-cream mixture in....lol

We fixed it all together and got shaking......

We shook and shook for about 4 minutes just to make sure that it was done....This was the result!

It was a little thicker then the mixture we put in but not exactly the ice-cream we were hoping for....

We shook for another 3 minutes....Took a look and not much had changed tried for another 5 and then I gave up!!

I came in the living room and had a sit down and a cuppa and then decided to try again......Maybe I had added too much milk?

I went through the whole process again.....After about 10 minutes of shaking this was the end result....We had ice-cream. Sort of! What ever you want to call it...It did taste delicious!! Just like strawberries and cream. If it had all turned into proper ice cream it would be enough for one portion for one person.

On Monday afternoon I decided to give it another go.....I had bought crushed ice to see if it had made a difference....I'm sad to say it didn't....After about 20 minutes shaking and a couple of changes of ice I got about the consistency as pictured above....I must be doing something wrong?!

We did have a lot of fun and excitement trying to make the ice cream but was a bit of a let down which is a shame.....I really wanted this product to work and be great but it just wasn't....

EDIT - PIease note: I have seen other reviews of this product where people have got perfect ice cream! It just didn't work for us!! This is my opinion and view of the product!

I was sent a new one to review and you can read what we thought HERE!!

  1. Interesting, I tried the slushy maker and that works quite well. I did wonder if the ice cream maker would be as effective. I can imagine its fun for kids to do though

  2. I was interested to read your review, I bought a little kids one of these with a cute dog or something on it a few years ago. It's equally rubbish, didn't make anything like the consistency you need and it wouldn't be enough even for my 2 year old even if it had worked. Disappointing!

    1. It was a shame it didn't work....I really wanted it to work.
I agree the portions would be small but still enough for an ice cream cone....

  5. Shame that it didn't turn out into proper ice cream, but at least it looks yummy. And you could always stick a straw into it and make it into a milkshake!

  7. See, we have the slushy makers and everyone else seems to think they are great, yet we really struggle to get a proper slushy from them. This sounds similar! Maybe my technique is wrong lol. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
