This week my Word of the Week is: Pottering! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Pottering
I have had one of those weeks where I haven't really done much but at the same time I have ticked a lot of things off my to do list. I've been pottering around the house at my own pace, with music playing, candles burning and a lot of the time in my comfy, fleecy pj's.

We had a couple of rainy days at the start of the week which meant I wasn't going anywhere so I stayed in and pottering about giving the house a good clean. I have really enjoyed spending time in the kitchen making a few hearty meals for us. The slow cooker has been out which makes me so happy, anything I put in there always comes out tasting amazing. I've made soup and Thursday night we had crispy pork spring roll wraps which were surprisingly easy to make apart from having to mix it with my hands, that was just a gross feeling. Since the kitchen has been decorated I am enjoying spending time in there. I even found myself sat on the kitchen bench, scrolling through TikTok, listening to the rain beat against the window, while drinking a cup of tea. It was just one of those nice moments.

Ellie and I have been Harry Pottering, watching the movies. She will never admit she is a Harry Potter fan because I am and it would not be cool to love the same thing as your old mam but she does love Harry Potter. hehehe We are going to watch the rest of them after we've finishing watching the new season of Heartstopper! Ellie went straight in with the new episodes while I started watching it again from the beginning to remind myself of what has happened in it.

I finally got around to defrosting the freezer, I had been putting if off all week but forced myself to do it when I did a food shop with Iceland. I only ordered a few essentials like fruit, bread, milk, hash browns, chips and some pizzas. I am doing well with my no spend month so far. I resisted the cakes and snacky food. I had to get pizzas though, they might seem like a treat but they're an easy meal for the end of the week and are a bargain from Iceland at only £1 each. We got some of the new one's, Thin Crust Chip Shop Chicken Curry and Thin Crust Hot Dog which are something a bit different than the usual pepperoni or meat feast.

Over the last few weeks I have found myself pottering around more on Instagram. I am actually enjoying it for the first time in years. I unfollowed a lot of people who haven't posted in years, companies which I only followed for blog things or competitions and now I am seeing more of people that I like sharing snippets of their lives. I've not got into doing stories or reels yet, it's just boring photos from me but Insta is making me happy at the moment.

Yesterday we went to see my dad, he was just pottering about not really doing much. We love our Friday visits. He was very proud to show off his new purchase, a full size organ! It has the double keyboard, foot pedals and even a stool with it. He has been teaching himself to play it over the week that he's had it. He got it from the local auction for £6!! He had planned on buying it and reselling it for a massive profit but now he's thinking about keeping it. I honestly never know what is going to be at my dad's when I get there. lol

How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one!

  2. Sounds like you had a fantastic week. Keeping busy at your own leisurely pace is what I call it. I can imagine how you love working in your 'new' kitchen now. Those Iceland pizzas sound yummy and different too! Do you think your dad is really going to learn to play the organ? I'm surprised he could even get it into the house! Have a great week ahead.

  3. pottering about sounds good. I can't believe your Dad got a full size organ for £6, my mum would have loved that, she could play the organ (and piano and accordion) I'm glad you are enjoying your new kitchen x
