We're going on a bear hunt....

We all know the story of We're going on a bear hunt....A book and story which is so much fun....

Follow and join in the family's excitement as they wade through the grass, splash through the river and squelch through the mud in search of a bear. What a surprise awaits them in the cave on the other side of the dark forest!

We're going on a bear hunt.
We're going to catch a big one.
What a beautiful day!
We're not scared.

When I was doing childcare at college I was sent out on placement to a school with reception class aged children who were reading the book "We're going on a bear hunt." they had a whole few weeks dedicated to lessons on various things related to the book....It was such a lovely time and I had so much fun....

So as soon as Becky became interested in real books....Not just board books for toddlers this was hunted out and bought.....I managed to get her a copy of it from a charity shop for about 20 pence....She fell in love with it too!

When Ellie was in nursery it was her favorite book too....They did a whole assembly about it and she fell in love with it.....It's been a while since the book was last read and has been collecting dust on the bookshelf until I decided to have a sort out of the books.....Now Ellie has gone and fallen in love with the book again and I think it's brilliant.....I love the story and love seeing how she acts it out (with the hiccups she did so well)....

We did have a minor disaster last week when Ellie turned the page too hard and it ripped....But a bit of sellotape and it is a good as new....Well as good as a book can be after 7 years....

  6. I think it's wonderful when a kid really connects with a book. For my son it was the 'Willy' books of Anthony Browne - amazing artwork we could explore for ages - and then, as a reluctant book reader (he has ALWAYS read everything else he sees - bus timetables, advertising, menus in shop windows etc) a few years down the road, he really loved Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants books. To my annoyance he's still not very booky, but I live in hope!
