Lego Friends Downtown Bakery - Review!!

My girls and I were recently sent the Lego Friends Downtown Bakery set to have a play with.....It came at the ideal time.....Ellie had been sent home from school after vomiting all over her classroom.....

When it arrived Ellie was asleep so I left it in front of her on the table so it would be the first thing she saw when she woke up....

Please excuse the PJ's and mess in the background I was in the middle of the housework when she woke up!

She was rather excited to see it and forgot all about being poorly! Lego makes everything better!!

Have some great construction fun with the Lego Friends Downtown Bakery!  Bake a custom cake at the Downtown Bakery with Mia! Open the sweet little shop by building the sign, canopy and outdoor display. Fill the shelves with cakes, bread, cookies and croissant accessories! When a customer arrives to order a wild-berry birthday cake, get creative in the kitchen with lots of food and utensils. Set the mixture into a pan and place it in the oven until it’s baked to perfection! Decorate it with fruit and ring up the order on the cash register.
  • Features sign and canopy, oven, outdoor cake stand, kitchen with utensils, cash register and a phone.Includes Mia and Danielle mini-doll figures
  • Accessories include cakes, bread, cookies, croissant, fruit and syrups
  • Open the cash register!
  • Bake pastries and cakes in the opening oven!
  • Fill the display stands with fun food accessories!
  • LEGO Friends pieces are fully compatible with all LEGO System bricks
  • Pieces: 253

Ellie dived straight on in and got with building....The instructions are very detailed and easy to follow....Ellie is 6 and a half and had no problems at all....

What we like...

There are so many accessories! The little food items are adorable!

It really appeals to girls unlike the other Lego sets which are available.....

This set encourages positive roleplay and creativity....

It's priced well...£25.99

The mini dolls are very cute....You get Mia in a bakery uniform and Danielle, basically a blonde Olivia in a cute purple outfit & a bow.

The Mini Dolls are a little bit taller than the regular Lego Mini figures. However the building is constructed using the standard-scale Lego doors and windows, making the set compatible with the other lines....

This is more than just a Lego building set...Once put together it is a great toy to play with again and again...

What we didn't like....

Ellie loved everything about it but I felt there was a lot of very small parts.....I can see quite a few pieces being lost over time....

That's it....There are no other bad points....If you are looking for a good introduction to Lego to a girl who maybe isn't so keen on construction sets then this is an ideal choice....

  4. I love that this range makes it more "acceptable" for girls to play with Lego - it's a shame that it has been so boy focussed for years. Wish it wasn't so pink though ;)

  5. That looks like a lovely set! I know that Lego come under criticism for the girly themed sets, but I know that my daughter will love things like this in a few years time (and I think that my son would enjoy a set like that now anyway!)

This looks like loads of fun :)Hubby bought DD (age 7) a Lego Friends set at the weekend while she was in hospital after developing a dangerously high fever (they kept her in as a precaution) and she had loads of fun with it. 13. I loved lego as a kid, but the only girly one I had was a kitchen. Don't think my boys would thank me for this but they love Star Wars and Ninjago lego #TriedTested

  14. The only thing I don't like is that it is so girly. Obviously it is aimed at girls but my smaller boys would happily play with this if it had normal lego people and wasn't in pink packaging.
