This week has flown over....The kids break up today for half term....It doesn't seem that long ago the were off school for their last holidays...Anyway this week my word of the week is....
On Wednesday we went to visit the Secondary school Becky will be starting in September....Boy oh boy it's big....My little girl in such a big school worries me....
We found out which tutor group she will be in and met her form tutor who is a lovely lady....That eased my mind a little....There are a few kids in her tutor group who she knows from her school now and she gets on with them all so that's a good thing....
We even got to try the canteen food out.....School dinners have come on a bit since I was a kid....lol
We did have a bit of a moment.....Becky nearly cried! She was being shown the padlock for her locker and how to use it....Turn it three times to the right.....Round to a certain number, back to another number, round again then to another number.....I found it complicated never mind Becky but like we said to her if that's her biggest worry about secondary school she'll be fine....Me on the other hand I will be a nervous wreck!!
Oh, such a big step! I'm sure she'll be fine, but I can completely understand the worry. Great that you had a good visit, a good start x #WotW
ReplyDeleteOh I feel for you Kim!, I have a while until Monkey is at that stage but i'm sure it will come round fast enough. I bet she will love it :) xx
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, that is an important visit. I've got Boo started primary school in September, so we can both worry about our girls together! Thanks for sharing with #WotW
ReplyDeletesounds like a very important week. such a big step! #WotW
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! She is going to love it... great that you were allowed to go with her, meet her form tutor and even sample the food. That should make September so much easier for her. x Mel #WotW
ReplyDeleteNew schools always seem soooooo scary but our kids adapt so much quicker and easier than we do, trust me after a week it will feel like she's been there forever :-D
ReplyDeleteA milestone! Bittersweeet to see our children go out there and face the big(ger) world. Hopefully she will adjust to life in that big achool fast =) #WOTW
ReplyDeleteAmazingly they settle in quickly, but in my experience you as a parent become more isolated, the car park becomes a drop off zone, you don't know anyone else, or the teachers - you become the 'New Kid on the Block' again. But with that comes a sigh of relief (once the initial dread has subsided that your child is going to stumble and fall without you) as you watch that child blossom and flourish as a young person. A lovely post. #WOTW
ReplyDeleteOh wow they grow up so fast. I hope shw enjoys secondary school and good luck to her. #wotw
ReplyDeleteA very big week for the both of you. Definitely an emotional time. I'm glad you like the teacher, that's a good start x
