Finally back into a routine. #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is....

It has been so hard to get back into the swing of things after Christmas but I think this is the week where we're finally back into a routine....Nothing much at all has happened this week. We have plodded on with life quite happily just doing normal things with no dramas...

It has been so cold here but we haven't had any more snow...I have seen photos of everyone having fun in the snow and was quite gutted when we had none....I think I would be happier about the cold if we had enough snow to make a snowman...

On Monday we were at the dentist's again! This time to get Becky's braces tightened. She now has a thicker wire in and they are on to the next stage of the treatment. They are now closing up all the gaps in her teeth. I expected Becky to have her braces on for a couple of years but at the rate they are going they may be off later this year with her only having them a year!! At least this time her teeth haven't hurt her as much as last time they were tightened....

We got a letter this week from Ellie's school.....Ellie is deaf in one ear and for 3 years the new class teachers haven't known until we have went and told them....I think deafness is an important piece of information which should be passed on from teacher to teacher but Ellie's school doesn't think it is....I have complained about this and more recently filled in a form about medical conditions so I think this has flagged up somewhere and someone has decided that Ellie needs an individual health plan....From what I can gather it means they have to take her condition seriously and make sure everyone is informed....Finally! It is something so simple that I have wanted for years....I am not going to hold back when I have this meeting next week.....hehehe

See nothing has happened....It is nice to have a uneventful week every now and again.....

  1. Glad that you are getting back into a routine and that Becky's teeth aren't hurting her after having her braces tightened - fingers crossed that they won't need to stay on as long as originally anticipated! Good news too about the school finally suggesting an individual health plan for Ellie - I agree with you that deafness is an important piece of information that the teachers should all be aware of. Hope the meeting goes well.

  2. Struth! Things like this continue to amaze me - of course it's important info to pass on, why on earth would they think it wouldn't be. Glad it's on the way to being sorted but I bet at some point they looked at you with a why didn't you tell us kind of look! #wotw

  3. It's nice to be back into the swing of things, isn't it? Glad that Becky finally got her appointment and that she's not suffering afterwards. It's about time the school took it more seriously, I know you've mentioned this issue many times before. Hope the meeting goes well x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

    1. It is...It seemed to take a long time to get back in the swing of things after Christmas but we're there now!
I know I have mentioned the school not understanding about Ellie's hearing at least 3 times on Word of the Week....It's ridiculous. I'm ready for an argument tomorrow. lol

  4. Hi kim, it's a shame you didn't get snow like some places in the UK, having fun in the snow makes the cold worth while. It's fantastic that your daughter may be out of braces earlier than first thought, the tightening can be quite painful.

Teachers should be informed of any child that has any sort of special need. Having a pupil that is deaf in one ear is quite a biggy and could make all the difference to the education of the child. And don't hold back, it's important that Ellie gets the help she may need.

    Hope the meeting goes well.

    1. I know it is a shame....Years ago up here we were always the first to get snow. hehehe
Yes! That is exactly it Debbie....The school seem to think because she can half hear she's fine. I won't be holding back! Thank you!

  5. Sounds like a good week to get on with things.
Great news for Becky's brace coming off earlier than expected, I bet she's dead pleased.

And glad to hear the teachers have finally taken note of Ellie's hearing condition. Sometimes these blooming schools are so half soaked it's untrue!

    Have a lovely weekend :) x
