This week my Word of the Week is....
On Saturday our boiler stopped working properly.....It was heating the water and the radiators upstairs but not the one's downstairs which matter.....We got in touch with the landlord and the earliest she could get someone to us with the part was Monday....Thankfully the rest of the weekend wasn't too cold.
On Monday the repair man came....He knew what the problem was and it was supposed to be a quick job. Take the old pump out and put a new one in....hahaha Nothing is ever simple when it comes to repairs on this house....He couldn't find the pump.....Our boiler is under the fire in the living room. The pump was supposed to be in the wall at the side....So he cut a hole in it and it wasn't there.....Oops. Yes it is as big as it looks....
He ripped up the laminated flooring and some floorboards and found it about 3 foot from where it should be....What should have been an hours job turned into a 3 hour job but the heating is working and seems better than ever!
Yesterday the our usual boiler man came to give the boiler a service....Our landlord said he would fix the hole while he was here. He's a jack of all trades....He didn't....He assumed it would have been smaller....lol He's off on his jolly holidays now so will be back to do it after he's sunned his self....I can live with the hole for now....The pile of dirty washing in the basket hides it....lol
Last week I wrote about how we were going to get Becky's braces fixed on the Friday....Oh no. The receptionist had got the day wrong. We were supposed to be there on the Thursday and not the Friday. So Becky had to wait all weekend to get the hook which holds the elastic band put back on.....It was a quick fix but very annoying that she had to have a couple of hours off school on Friday for nothing and more time off on Monday afternoon.....

In other news...
Becky forged a note in her planner from me so she could get out of PE....It didn't work and she ended up with a detention. lol I am still chuckling about it now....You have to give her points for trying....
Ellie started Gymnastics.....She has been dying to have a go and school were offering 12 kids the chance to do it after school so I put her name down and she got picked...She came home on Tuesday with a sheet of things to practice including forward rolls....I have been trying to convince her they should be saved for school....Forward rolls on laminated flooring is not going to end well....
It snowed!! We woke up yesterday to a light dusting of snow and it continued to snow for most of the morning.....The kids were very excited until it dawned on them that they had to walk to school in it.....lol Wet feet all round because they didn't want to wear their wellies....Grr! By the afternoon it had just about gone and what was left turned to slush....I wrote this last night and I am absolutely dreading today.....We're forecast severe ice and more snow....Eek!
We have had loads of problems with our boiler, its a total nightmare our house is freezing
ReplyDeleteEek! I hope it's sorted soon x
DeleteGlad your boiler got fixed but not good that you've been left with a big hole - hope that gets sorted out soon and thank goodness for baskets of dirty washing which hide things like that! I'm a little envious of you having snow - we've yet to have any down here yet but slush and ice is not fun!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have had some snow by now!
DeleteThank you!
Oh no, that is a big hole! Oh well, good excuse to leave your ironing pile untouched ;-) So frustrating to have to go back to the dentists, but at least it's all done now. We had a dusting of snow here for the last couple of mornings, but all gone by the afternoons - hope we don't get more I hate driving in it! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've ended up covering the hole in a towel. lol It was causing a draft. lol
DeleteThat sure is a big gap in the wall! Hopefully it will get sorted and the finished appearance will look good. I find my daughter's bedroom the warmest in this house. #WotW
ReplyDeleteMy girls bedroom is the warmest too....It has the hot water tank in so it helps!
DeleteThank you!
Glad you have the heat back but what a shame things had to get ripped open/ up to allow it to happen. Mich x
ReplyDeleteI know...Such a mess!
DeleteThank you!
Things are never where they should be, are they! Hurrah for having piles of washing to hide the hole - I think that's what I would use to hide it too! 😂 xxx #Wotw
ReplyDeleteDirty washing does come in useful sometimes!
DeleteThank you!
Hi Kim, so glad you've got your boiler fixed, I can't imagine living in England without the radiators working properly, I'd probably die!
ReplyDeleteThat is a rather large hole, I bet it's the first time you've ever been grateful for having so much washing?
Well done to your daughter for getting picked for gymnastics and Becky will have to practice forging notes a bit better if she doesn't want to end up in detention... Either that or don't do it! Don't children do the funniest things?
xx
I think if it hadn't have been fixed I would have moved out until it was...lol It's been so cold here!
DeleteThank you! She's loving the gymnastics and yes Becky needs a little practice at writing notes...lol
Glad the boiler was fixed, and hopefully before the snow arrived. And forging notes did make me smile and take me back, the times we used to forge our parents signature in our homework diary, only to have to explain it to mum and dad the following week! Have a great weekend :) #wotw
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have anymore snow :(
DeleteThe note was so funny...lol
Thank you!
Glad they sorted your boiler, as you know we had the same crap too.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that Ellie got chosen to do Gymnastics, I hope she really enjoys it.
And I must admit Becky forging her PE letter did make me smile, I'm guilty of doing this at her age, only mine was for swimming! x
Boilers are a pain in the bum....hehehe
DeleteShe is having a great time with Gymnastics!
Thank you!
