This year I said to the girls we were going to keep the advent calendars simple this year, they were only getting one each and it would just be a chocolate one. Well, that didn't go to plan. I just can't help myself. I like to spoil my girls and I keep thinking they are not going to be at home forever so I will make the most of it while they are plus at the grand age of 45 I still want and advent calendar, there's something special about enjoying a bit of chocolate every morning in the run up to Christmas.
Stu and I are keeping things simple. Stu has a Cadbury's one, he always gets a Cadbury's one and I have a Reese's one. I was telling the girls how years ago I could only get Reese's chocolate from specialist, American type sweet shops but now you can get all sorts of Reese's, from everywhere now!
I really hadn't planned on going overboard with advent calendars but then I saw the Hello Kitty one on Shein which I knew Ellie would love. It was only £8.50 and each day there's a different Hello Kitty character to collect. Ellie didn't fancy a chocolate one this year and went with the Swizzles Sweet Shop one.
Becky couldn't decide what advent calendar that she wanted so I chose her the Celebrations Chocolate Christmas Tree Advent Calendar that way she would get a different chocolate every day. I told her that she was too old for a toy or fun one and then the mum guilt got the better of me and I decided to get her an extra one. She was mentioning an alcohol one but they are so expensive so the next best thing was a coffee one.
I spotted the Beanies 24 Days of Flavoured Coffee Advent Calendar on the Boots website in their Black Friday sale, I paid £12 for it but when I was writing this it had dropped to just over £10 which I think is a great bargain for 24 sachets of flavoured coffee. There's Gingerbread, Peppermint, Christmas Pudding, Yule Log, Mince Pie and Orange & Cranberry flavours! Yum!
We are now very excited for the 1st of December! Are you having an advent calendar this year? Which one have you chosen?
What a nice tradition for your family! Would you believe we've never had Advent calendars? I'm not sure why, except that I maybe it had to do with me not having one as a young child either? Enjoy yours!
ReplyDeleteHaving different advent calendars is nice and I like that each one of you has a different kind.
ReplyDeleteWe are having our daily gifts as advent, instead of big gifts on Christmas day. The first gift for my husband is an advent calendar with chocolate though. :))
There are an amazing variety of Advent calendars these days! We have several too, Walker's Biscuits to enjoy with our coffee when Vic gets home, and Vic has a Lindt chocolate calendar. I bought a fancy gourmet Advent calendar a few years ago with drawers and Vic said he was going to re-use it to add goodies for each day, we'll see if he remembers! Sophia got Forelock & Fringe's equestrian Advent calendar. I am so envious of your Beanies calendar! I bought a selection pack of their coffees from Ebay one year, individual sachets of a variety of flavours, and loved them. So sad Boots doesn't ship to the US. Almost forgot to mention that Malone has his own doggy calendar, too!
ReplyDeleteMy kids still get Advent calendars at 35 and 36 yrs old. They've got to the stage now where they prefer the kiddy ones as a joke...I'm pretty sure I got my eldest a Peppa Pig one last year :) xx
ReplyDeleteOoo fun, my boys have a swizzle. So much choice now x
