This week my Word of the Week is: Cough! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Cough

I still haven't shaken off the cold that I caught last week. Ugh! It seems to be one of those which hangs around, well the cough at least! My dad has still got it, so has his partner and Stu still has a bit of a cough too. It's strange, the girls haven't caught it but Becky always seems to have a cold at this time of year and Ellie is just a trooper and never seems to catch anything. I have done plenty of Covid tests and they have all came up negative.

Going to York for the Christmas Market on Friday was a great idea but I suffered for it over the weekend. Cough, cough, cough! On Sunday evening when I was doing the food shop I added some cough medicine to the basket, just the cheapest one that they had, Tesco's own. I rang the doctors on Monday morning hoping to get an appointment but the best they could offer me was well in to December. I am hoping to be over it by then and now I feel like I will be, if you asked me a few days ago I thought I was never going to shake this cough off!

When the cough medicine arrived I had a mouth full and it worked, I stopped coughing! I don't know if the ingredients helped or the fact that it tasted that disgusting I just forgot about my cough. I carried on taking it and my cough had eased a little by Wednesday. It was the lack of sleep which did me in. I think I saw every hour Sunday night/Monday morning. I'm still not feeling 100% but I am better than I was. Phew!

We put off going to the cinema on Monday as I was coughing so much and we had a cosy day at home putting up the Christmas decorations. It looks so festive in here now. We ended up going to the cinema yesterday to watch Wicked and I absolutely loved it!! I did worry about having a coughing fit in the cinema but I was that into Wicked that I didn't think about coughing. Ellie and I have decided we're going to watch The Wizard of Oz over the weekend and we can't wait for the 2nd part of Wicked next year, it seems such a long time away!

We don't have much planned for today, I do have a mountain of washing to do, it has piled up during the week and then I think I am going to watch some Christmas movies!

How has your week been? I hope you have all had a good one! I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!

  1. There's nothing worse than an annoying lingering cough, Jake has one at the moment and it's keeping him awake at night. Have you tried a spoon of honey? it coats the throat and eases the cough a little. I hope you are feeling much better this weekend x

  2. Oh no! Sounds like you had a terrible cough going through some of the family. Leisa and I had one too, but thankfully we are over it now. Wicked is on my list to see but I can't take myself out the house at this time of the year unless I have to. I find it so cold now! We came back to find our decorations up so we are indeed feeling a bit festive too. Enjoy the season and I hope the cough leaves you alone.

  3. I hate it when cough's linger. I'm super unlucky because coughing causing severe spasms and I've cracked ribs just by coughing. The Little man has been coughing like crazy too. I'm glad you managed to enjoy the movie. I've always wanted to see the stage show but they really inflate the prices xx

  4. Sorry to hear that you still haven’t shaken off the cough – hope it is on its way out now. Glad the cough medicine helped. Lovely to have a cinema trip to see Wicked – we’ve not yet seen it but the reviews are amazing. #WotW
