This past week has flown over! I have had a good week. The sun has been shining, I've been outside more and I love this time of year when events and things are being advertised for the summer. It's time to pencil in some plans to the calendar. I am here today sharing some of my favourites from my week, I am of course linking up with Erika and Andrea.
Scamanda on Disney+!
I watched the four part docuseries on the case of Amanda Riley, the Californian woman who faked having cancer for almost a decade and fooled friends and family into giving her more than $100,000 for treatment. I of course have heard about the story of Amada Riley but this still shocked me. The lies she told, the lengths that she went to and there's no way the husband wasn't in on it!
Steak and Ale pies!
A few weeks ago I got these steak and ale pies from Asda and they were amazing and I have been thinking about them since so decided to get them again for over the weekend, we had them on Sunday as the girls had already made plans for what they were eating. There is loads of gravy inside and meat, perfect!
John Cena turning into a bad guy!
There was a big wrestling event on over the weekend and I caught up with it on Sunday and saw John Cena turn into a bad character again, a heel! He is retiring this year so it's good to see something different for him. For years he's been a good guy, an extra good guy but when he first started wrestling, many many years ago he was a great bad guy. He was so good at being a bad guy the fans started to like him. I am excited to see what his last year in wrestling brings.
Pancakes!
On Tuesday it was Shrove Tuesday, pancake day and we of course enjoyed plenty. I made them from scratch and I am pretty proud in how they all turned out. The girls enjoyed them with different toppings and I just stuck to lemon and sugar and lemon and golden syrup.
One-Pot Baked Mushroom Stroganoff Tortiglioni!
On Monday we had this meal for tea and all of my family loved it. My fella was a bit unsure of it just having mushrooms and onions in as well as the tomato sauce but it tasted so good. A few months ago I wouldn't have chose this as a meal as my youngest hated mushrooms but now she loves them and we can enjoy so many more different dishes as a family!
American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson on Netflix!
I remember the O.J Simpson trial when it was happening and knew it was a big thing but I didn't really take much notice of it. Since then I had watched a lot of shows this one revisits the infamous 1990s murder case and trial that captivated America. With new interviews and insights, it explores the chase, courtroom drama, and cultural impact, offering a fresh look at this pivotal moment in US history. It was an OK watch but there wasn't anything massively new in it.
Spring dresses!
Well they're not really spring dresses as such, I bought them last summer but they are flowery and colourful. It has been nice to wear something pretty. I am still wearing a cardigan with the dresses and my usual winter boots but the weather is getting warmer and it's only a matter of time until my sandals come out.
Being out in the garden!
The time has came to start sorting the garden out and on Sunday Stu did all the heavy lifting, moving things around and during the week I did some more tidying and weeding. It looks so much better already. The black bags covering the soil have gone, the little fence which fell down in the storm has been moved, the weeds have gone and all the plant pots have been emptied and are waiting to be filled again!
What have you loved over the past week?
Those steak and ale pies sound perfect, and yay for more mushroom-filled meals! I love the spring dresses and garden progress. Spring always feels like the perfect time for a fresh start!
ReplyDeleteLove John Cena and pancakes, lol. I definitely am plotting my pots for planting. We can’t plant here til end April and then the ground in May but I’m making my list and ready to go greenhouse hoping for sure! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see the sun! I just heard about that cancer scandal last night. That is so awful. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your posts because I get a snapshot of life in England. Happy weekend to you! We are getting touches of spring and daylight savings time so it will be light out later and it helps my mood so much!
ReplyDeleteI love how cheerful and happy your week was! Your pancakes looked delicious! I’ve heard about golden syrup but never tried it, is it something you buy in a store or would it be something to make from scratch? Always looking for more toppings for the boys and my sweet tooth! 🥰
ReplyDeleteI just buy Golden Syrup but you can make it with sugar water and lemon juice, there are recipes online. I had never thought of making it from scratch.
DeleteOh I wish I could get my boys to eat cooked mushrooms-- I'd put them in everything because I LOVED cooked mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteYou had a great week! I lived through the media frenzy with OJ Simpson and don't need a show to review it. He killed them and got away with it. Loved that your family is opening up to trying new food. Mushrooms are great and I was a big fan until my doctor made me quit eating them due to allergies. (I miss them!) It also sounds like your garden is ready for you to decide what you're planting this year. I hope your weather continues to take you to spring. I'm sure it's wonderful where you live.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! Thanks for reminding me about the show on OJ! I love true crime. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern on that dress is so cute!
ReplyDeleteYour pancakes look amazing! Like you I like mine with lemon and sugar best :)
