What I have loved this week! Week 11. #FridayFavourites

This week has flown over despite me just pottering around the house. I haven't been on top form thanks to being full of cold at the start of the week so I have taken things slow. It's Friday so I am of course linking up with Erika and Andrea to share some of the things that I have been loving this week.

What I have loved this week

Getting over this cold!
I had a rotten cold over the weekend but I am just about over it now! I have gone through so many tissues but thankfully it wasn't a bad one. I am totally blaming Becky for bringing it home, she works in care and seems to pick up all the germs and share them around.

Toxic Town on Netflix!
The mini series follows the real life battle of families in Corby, Northamptonshire, whose children were born with defects in the 1980s and 90s. Jodie Whittaker was fantastic in it and I finished all 4 episodes in one day! It is a good reminder of the ignorance of toxic waste and it's effects.

Garden work!
We had a wooden planter out the front of our house and it's been there for a good few years and it wasn't looking in the best of shape after just general aging, a car ran into it and all the dogs who like to take a leak on it.

(This was it when it looked nice)

Planter with flowers in

It looked like it was close to falling apart so Stu decided to empty it and move the soil into the back garden. It wasn't a big job but took time and lots of trips with the wheelbarrow. Now my flowerbeds in the back have some extra soil and Stu used the better looking wood to put some edging on the them. Everything looks so much tidier and getting rid of the planter has stopped the dogs stopping to do their business.

Early mornings!
I am not a morning person usually, but when I had my cold I was waking up and feeling wide awake. I wasn't even hitting snooze on my alarm. I am putting it down to the cold and flu tablets that I was taking which have caffeine in. My fella said I should just have an extra cup of coffee in the day now that I am not taking the tablets. I'd love to but anything more than one cup of coffee a day and I feel anxious about nothing! It was nice to be a morning person even if it was only for a short time.

Holidays booked!
Stu has 28 days annual leave from work each year and this week his workplace opened the holiday booking system. Everyone was rushing to book their days off for the year and Stu followed suit and got straight in there with his list of dates that he wanted off work. He has got all of them apart from one day, Good Friday! He didn't want it off because we had plans but because the buses are on Sunday service and he would be 3 hours late for work. His boss has said he can work and extra day the week before and have the Friday off so that's sorted and a days holiday saved. Phew!

What have you loved this week?

  1. I am not a morning person either! Maybe I should try those cold and flu tablets to help me get out of bed in the mornings, haha! It's wonderful that Stu got the days off from work that he wanted, and what a good boss to sort out the Friday! Have a great weekend, Kim!

  2. Love having the garden things all sorted and tidy. Yay to Stu getting holiday time all settled. I’m the same way, just can’t do more than one cuppa coffee. I do a tea too in the afternoon though. Have a great weekend!
