There's a surge in the number of false positive pregnancy tests you can
buy online. People are buying and selling positive pregnancy tests....
Some are proper 'joke' ones in jokey packaging for oh so hilarious
pranks.....Others are designed to show a positive result whoever wees on
them......Others are real - used tests that show a positive result!!! These are wrapped in convincing packaging the same as well known brands
and come with no mention on the packaging that they are fake.
After a quick search on Ebay I found these in seconds!!
I may be getting old but I just don't see the funny side of this!! A joke is supposed to make you laugh! Plastic dog poo is a prank....This plays with peoples emotions!!
Think of the distress if this was given to someone who had fertility
problems....had just suffered a miscarriage...was having relationship
problems...financial crisis...health problems etc.
I can think of a few idiots I've seen on Jeremy Kyle who would use this sort of thing to turn peoples lives upside down....People who are vindictive enough to use this as a means to trap someone into a relationship...
The more I think about it and the fact that there appears to be a market for this the more I despair for society!!
No not right at all!!
What is the purpose of them! Like you I don't find them funny at all unless you're pulling this stunt on a bloke and then it's quite blatantly obviously it's a joke - (by that I do mean get him to wee on it) - other then that, I think they are open to abuse!
ReplyDeleteThey are so wrong..
DeleteHmmm, this isn't a funny joke at all!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a bit weird that someone would buy a real, used pregnancy test - strangers wee anyone?
I know....Who would want to buy something covered in someone else's wee! Madness!
DeleteThese are just wrong. Sounds like they are made for bunny boilers not jokers....
ReplyDeleteThey are....Could cause so much trouble x
DeleteWhat a weird thing to buy or sell for that matter!! Thanks for sharing Kim I had no idea that these things even existed!! You bring up some valid points in regards to issues it could cause should someone purchase one for a joke.

It is so strange....It's right though....You can get just about anything off Ebay...lol x
DeleteThis is very disturbing. I don't really know what to say! What is the world coming to?!
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteI don't see the purpose of this I don't think its a topic for joking about..
ReplyDeleteThis is not funny at all. I fail to understand how anyone can use this as a topic of prank. And to use it to entrap someone in a relationship is just horrid and disagreeable.
ReplyDeleteThis absolutely disgusts me! I don't think joking about being pregnant is funny to be honest especially when you know how pathetic a lot of people are now days and would actually use these to trap people in relationship. I didn't even know these existed until reading your post. xx

Well highlighted, Kim. The more people that know these things are in existence the less likely people are to be fooled by them.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the statistic that there are supposed to be 1 in 10 kids in the UK whose father thinks he is the father but in fact the kid was fathered by someone else that the mother was having an affair with. Personally, I think that figure sounds too high, but if it is true, there are a lot of blokes living in a fools paradise!!
Thank you..
DeleteWhoa...That's interesting but scary to read x
To make a joke that someone is pregnant when they are not is very distasteful. I was very disappointed to see people are selling these.
ReplyDeleteI saw the article on Parentdish and it made me really angry! How is this an industry... surely people have better things to do with there time... crazy! x
ReplyDeleteI also saw this on parentdish, its horrible and pointless x
ReplyDeleteOh my God I did not know at all that this was going on. I spent a FORTUNE on real pregnancy tests, for approx 6 months. If I'd heard this back then when TTC I would not have found this funny AT ALL xxx
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! When I read the title of this blog post, I was hoping it wasn't what I was dreading. Imagine what could happen if someone with bad intentions got hold of those fake tests? x
ReplyDeleteWith my first and second children i was told the 11 tests with the top brand test were fake because the doctors test showed negative 4 times and they told me i was having a phantom pregnancy in my first child, it was only when my boobs were leaking at only 1 mnth into my pregnancy (mine starts almost instantly before imiss a period im wierd lol) that i ordered for a hospital test t be done and it confirmed i was correct , but oh my ive heard of woman buying tests from pregnant woman already weed on to show and trap a partner into staying with them , and i afgree with you this is not funny to me either as i see it not as a joke to be pregnant but a life changing event that really is for life, who would laugh, i know i wouldnt if i was that man on the other end feeling trapped and wondering what on earth
ReplyDeleteso very creepy!
