This week my Word of the Week is:
We have had a lovely week at home, mostly! We needed it after the weekend that we had. Friday night, out at the pub. Saturday at the agricultural show, Sunday complaining about the rain, then going to the pub and Monday going to see my dad!
Ellie is on her summer holidays from college so I am seeing plenty of her with her spending more time at home, when she can be bothered to get herself out of bed. Sometimes it's heading towards lunchtime before she comes downstairs despite me nagging! It's not even because she is sleeping, she will wake up at about 9am and then watch a couple of episodes of Grey's Anatomy. We have got on with the ton of admin preparing for September and her going back to college. Finance forms to fill in, sorting her bus pass and a few other bits. At least there is no uniform to buy. It has came up on my Facebook memories over the past week from various years complaining about the cost of the uniform. Eek!
Becky booked this week off work which came as a surprise to me, I knew she had next week off but she thought I just knew about this week! I guess my psychic powers are not working anymore. lol She has enjoyed being at home and not having to plan her life around work. She's done all of her washing, tidied her room properly and played on her laptop lots which she doesn't usually have time for.
On Wednesday I was left home alone while the girls went into town. I love them to bits but after having them here for a few days, together it was lovely to have some peace. Now, I am not used to them both being home at the same time for more than a day. I am not complaining though, we have had some giggles and there has been less bickering than usual. Don't get me wrong they have had their moments, especially when they are in the kitchen together but on the whole they've been lovely to each other.
The only bad thing about having the girls home is that I have totally lost track with what day it is. Stu being off work on Saturday didn't help either. I was sat here Saturday evening thinking it was Sunday. Thursday felt like a Friday and yesterday felt like a Saturday. Today I am hoping I am back on track and today actually feels like a Saturday although I doubt it will. lol
I cannot end my Word of the Week post without mentioning the football! Haven't the boys done well! Dare we start singing It's coming home, it's coming home. It's coming, football's coming home! After the first couple of matches in the Euro's I can't believe we are through to the final! It's going to be a tough match against Spain but we did it and got to the final, now we just have to win! I think Monday should be made into a Bank Holiday, I think there will be a few sore heads and people phoning in sick to work. hehehe
How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one!
Two very different meanings for home - one a actual home and the other one is football. I want to go to a pub to see the match tomorrow, it should be great. I liked how they played the last one.
ReplyDeleteNice to see that you are happy and relaxed. We are thinking of some renovations and talk a lot about that, which is not stressful, but it's not relaxed either.
What a Sunday it will be tomorrow! Gentlemen's Final at Wimbledon and England in the Euro Cup!
ReplyDeleteFootball's coming home! Loll I am waiting for this one. Although I have a sneaky feeling that we'll all be sad on Sunday night. lol. We will see. Nice to have the whole family home. Our girls will be here too so we will watch the football together. The boy is away on holiday so I guess he will see it with his mates. I wonder when they would announce that Monday is a bank holiday? Have a great week ahead my blogging friend.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've had a nice chilled out week.
Almost time to see if it's coming home! I really hope so. Enjoy the match! xx
How lovely to have everyone home but I know what you mean about enjoying some alone time. We stayed up until 2am watching the tennis and missed the euro finals. Sorry it’s not coming home this time :(
ReplyDeleteI've had my Little Man home for two weeks with his chest infection, he's been so poorly. We had nearly two weeks of no sleep and have been catching up the last two nights. He didn't to school today because it was a trip and I don't think he's well enough. He will go back for the last 4 days coming home at lunch time. It sound like you had a great weekend despite the rain on Sunday, I have to sort out everything for Boo for her new college in September, she might not need a uniform but her choice in clothing isn't cheap! And as I'm late replying I can sadly say that football isn't coming home again! xx
ReplyDeleteOur word of the week last week would have been recovery. We spent lots of extra time at home too while Alec recuperated from his oral surgery but he's off and feeling just fine this week.
ReplyDeleteIt’s nice to have a week at home, especially when things have been busy. Sounds like Ellie and Becky have been enjoying their time off from college and work. I can imagine that it’s had you confused about what day it is though – changes in routine are confusing! It was great that England made it to the final, shame they didn’t win though. #WotW
