What I have loved this week! Week 12. #FridayFavourites

Hello there and happy Friday! This week has flown over, I have been busy with appointments, filling in paperwork, online shopping, jobs around the house, working in the garden and just the normal day to day things. I am of course linking up with Erika and Andrea to share some of the things that I have been loving this week.

What I have loved this week

Adolescence - Netflix!
Adolescence tells the story of how a family's world is turned upside down when 13 year old Jamie Miller is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl who goes to his school. I won't spoil it for anyone but wow, just wow! I watched all 4 episodes in one day and was blown away by it. It is one of the most creative TV shows I've seen in quite a long time. The show was filmed in one continuous shot and in real time for each episode made it feel like it was happening right then. The young lad playing Jamie deserves all the awards but all the actors and actresses were amazing! Watching it was an emotional roller coaster!

Family time!
We went to see my dad as usual on Friday but the only difference was that we all went. We've all seen him separately over the last few months but not all of us together, the bonus was my brother was there too. My dad loves having us all there and spoils the girls rotten. He made our lunch and because they were not keen on what he dished up he made them an alternative. My brother and I were laughing, we never got that special treatment when we were kids. If we didn't like what was dished up we would just have to eat it or go hungry. My dad says things are different now, yes because he's the grandad and not the dad. hehehe

Walkers Crisps!
Years ago my two favourite flavours of crisps were discontinued, Walkers Worcester Sauce and Tomato Ketchup. I don't know how or why but they have been brought back and so far I have seen them for sale in Iceland. I got a grocery delivery from them on Friday just to stock up on the crisps. hehehe

Walkers Crisps

Newcastle United winning the Carabao Cup!
It was cup final day for Newcastle on Sunday and they went to Wembley to face Liverpool! Newcastle are a fab football team but they never seem to do well under pressure but this time they smashed it winning 2-1. The last time they won anything major was in 1955 so it is a massive thing. Don't get me wrong the last 10 minutes of the match were tense but seeing the players and fans celebrate when the final whistle blew was something amazing!

Deliveries!
I ordered a few things online over the weekend and they have been getting delivered. I ordered from 2 different online stores and it came in 6 different deliveries. It would be easier if everything could be sent out at the same time but it is exciting to get something delivered when you are not 100% sure what is being delivered when! I ordered my dad's partner a little something for Mother's Day, she is not my mother but is as good as. I got carried away with myself and thought for that split second Mother's Day was this Sunday instead of next. So my dad's partner is getting her little treat a week early. It doesn't matter, she deserves all the treats!

A fire!
Stu loves to have a fire to burn paperwork and random bits of cardboard and he had one during the week. I love the smell that drifted in the house, not so much when Stu came in and absolutely stunk the place out. His clothes were put straight in the washing machine!

Fire

Wrestling in Europe!
I am a sucker for watching WWE wrestling and at the moment they are on their European tour and it makes me so happy as it means that the live shows are on Netflix at 7pm or 8pm instead of the usual 1am or 2am here in the UK. I can watch them when they are happening instead of having to wait until the next day and run the risk of seeing spoilers.

The start of Spring!
It was officially the first day of spring yesterday and even though for most of the week it hasn't been that much warmer it has been brighter and there's some heat in the sun! On Wednesday morning when I went outside there was still frost on the ground but by the afternoon the sun was shining and drying my washing on the line outside. This time next week we will be getting ready for the clocks to spring forward and there will be longer and hopefully warmer days ahead!

What have you loved over the past week?

  1. You week sounds really nice! How fun to find (and receive) snacks that you really like. I'll bet the family time was so special. My parents didn't get to be grandparents in my kids' lives (my mom was alive briefly when my oldest was very young) but I think they would be the same way that your dad is- way more permissive with the grands than with us kids! I will check out your Netflix rec. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  4. I totally agree that grandkids get all the good treatment! 😂 I’ll have to keep my eyes out to see if the Worcestershire chips make it across the pond as those sound really addictive in the best way! Have a wonderful weekend!!! 💛

  6. Your week sounds great. Lays has another name in England - weird to me. I avoid chips as I can eat just one. I become a pig and empty the bag.

  7. Ah so many good things you shared, thank you! I've been watching Severence and I'm obsessed! I'm a little late to the party but at least I don't have to wait for season 2! I am a Man City fan, so seeing how down we are this year, I'm just glad Newcastle won instead of Man U. Hope you have a great weekend! hugs!

  8. Oh yes all the grandparents say the same thing here when we point out how much harder they were on us than they are with our boys; I am constantly reminded that that's the fun of being a grandparent!

  9. I have been watching Adolescence, too! It's so good, and WOW describes it so well! The young boy playing the lead is incredible, and like you said, so are all the other actors. I have one episode to go, and I stayed up last night until 1 am to watch the first three. I'll watch the final one today. Your dad is so sweet to make your girls a different meal. I remember my mum would give in to my boys so easily, and I thought that if I had known what a softie she was, I would have been naughty as a kid. Haha, she was so strict with me! Yay for the chips you love being back in stock. Have a great weekend :)

  11. That made me chuckle about your dad, that's what grandparents are for. It's lovely that you could all get together at the same time to visit him.
I have to find those crisps, two of my fave flavours!
I really enjoyed Adolescence, the final epsiode had me sobbing it was such a powerful show and I hope some good comes of it.

  12. I have heard amazing things about Adolescence so we'll probably be watching that one next. I've heard it's very hard to watch, though. Hopefully I'll be able to get through it!
