The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey!!

Last night we did a stupid thing....

We went to bed at Midnight and decided to watch The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey!! We had all intentions of just watching half an hour of it then going to sleep....

Nooo.....At nearly 3am we had watched it all.....Not for one minute did I regret it....It was worth being tired for this morning.....

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever... Gollum.

It is hard not to compare this film to the Lord of The Rings films but you can't help it especially when the film starts preparing for the party at the beginning of the first LOTR films....This is not Lord of The Rings though....Yes there is Gandalf & the elves but it is so much more it is a whole separate story!....

Martin Freeman as Bilbo is a highlight...The guy knows how to act...As much as I like Frodo and co. from Lord of the Rings, Bilbo is much, much easier to like and root for...Bit of a fanny at the beginning but man's up a bit by the end!

The first 40 minutes could of been hurried up a bit more....Seemed to really drag before anything happened...There was a couple of funny moments and songs but that's about it....But after the 40 minute mark it really picked up!! The film flew over....It ended way too soon....The last scene I screamed at the TV!! Why did they have to end it there....I wanted more!!

I'd never actually thought, how Bilbo got the most famous ring but this film explains it....Loved Gollum of course....Crazier than ever!!

One thing I did think....There was too many Dwarfs!!
Dwalin, Balin, Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, and Thorin.....lol You just couldn't make a connection with them all....To me they were just there many characters!!

Overall, the Hobbit delivers....It's beautiful, it's fun, it's entertaining, it's a great film, and if you can forgive some pacing issues and accept the fact that it's a new series of films....You'll love it, that's for sure!!!
