This week my Word of the Week is: Sick! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Sick

This past week seems to have really dragged. It hasn't been a bad one but it hasn't been the greatest at the same time. It's just been a bit meh! I for one am ready for the weekend!

Becky thinks she got food poisoning from a hot dog at the cinema and ended up not being well over the weekend. We are blaming the hot dog because she said it didn't taste right and if it had been a bug at least one of us would have caught it. She is absolutely fine now.

I was livid with one of Becky's managers at work. Despite the fact Becky told her that she was ill and still being sick she was told to either find cover herself or go in. The only people Becky knows at work are always in when she is in so couldn't find cover so she decided to go in just to prove how ill she was. She was sick twice and lasted less than an hour before she was sent home. All the other staff agreed the manager was in the wrong for making her go in and complaints have been made. I think the manager is a bit of a bully, certainly to the younger members of staff. Thankfully her other manager is lovely and rang Becky on Wednesday night to ask if she would cover someone else who was sick. Becky was fine with that, she wanted to make some of the missed hours up. It was a strange shift for her as she'd been at college during the day so the manager said she didn't have to go in until midnight and she could finish at 7am. I heard her come in just after 7am and as I write this she's still sleeping preparing herself for another night shift.

I am sick of this weather! We had a glorious weekend where I was walking around without a coat on, then another day when I got a few loads of washing dried on the line but then the rain came and it is poor effort at rain. It's that misty stuff that seems to soak you even more than full on rain drops. Ugh! I always complain in the summer about the heat but I am at the point where I would rather be sweating than wet and cold when I am out.

I have got to the point where I am sick of coming up with ideas to feed my family so I saw those Gousto recipe boxes were on offer and ended up ordering one for just over £17 that should feed 4 of us for 4 days. Everyone raves about them so we are keen to give them a try. It is being delivered on Sunday and I can't wait. It's not something that I will buy every week but I am looking forward to something different.

How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one!

  1. Glad that Becky is feeling better and no one else "caught" anything; though if it the hot dog tasted funny it probably was a mild form of food poisoning. I hate that so often now workers have to try and find their own coverage-- especially when sick. It's just nuts! What is the point of management if not to manage?!

  2. Wow! That must have been a nightmare for you and your daughter! Glad it's better now.
Can't wait to hear what you think of those Gousto boxes. I've never ordered anything on subscription box whatsoever! Have a great week ahead and we hope it warms up soon.

  3. Poor Becky, I hope she's feeling better now. I've ahd to go out in the cold a couple of times in the past few weeks and it really isn't nice, but I used to love it when I wasn't sick, I really didn't mind rain or snow so long as it wasn't windy. We have sunshine today, I hope you do too. x

  4. Sorry that Becky was sick this week. That’s appalling that the manager insisted that she go in or find cover herself. I’m glad the other manager is much better. The weather last week was dreary wasn’t it? Hopefully this week will be better. The Gousto box sounds like a great way of trying something new. We’ve had Hello Fresh boxes before and my husband and I loved trying new things but the children were less keen. Hope your girls enjoyed the new recipes though! #WotW
